grinding teeth or wisdom tooth? and others....

Went to do something i had not done for a couple for years-- visit dentist.
Morning wake up, found my whole left side numb, can't imagine i was sleeping facing down on my left side for the 5.5 hrs. Left upper an lower jaw felt a bit numb in the morning, perhaps that I grind my teeh due to the awkaward position.
After. at office, lots of "rocky events" such as they upgraed my MAc G3 to an old emac, with the enw OS 10 ( or panther) install. but turn out fount size so small and the position of the computer too low for my eyes' easy viewing.
From teh afternoon, my left jaw and teeth started to feel pain, dun feel like talking. Not that type of tooth decay pain, but the type were the pain shot up to yr cheekbone.

Boh pian lah, decided to visit the dentist.

Din't know the entist at Bishan are so popular, had to wait til 8pm then manage to slot in my appointment.....
Dentist knocked on my teeth, yet i didn't feel pain. to my horror, he found out taht my left upper wisdom tooth was badly decay. Though I feel no pian at all. He said the wisdom tooth grows on a spot where it's hard to maintain, and the correct way for the toothbrush to reach it was to brush the inner teeth with my mouth close, not wide open' so that the tooth brush can reach inside. Darn, I had been brushing with my mouth wide open all these years.

took an x-ray, but could find any problem, so he gave 3 assumptions
1) the musclepain from the grinding
2) the sensitive teeth and gums
3) the decay wisdom tooth

But hor, the area where i was feeling pain was not the area where the upper left wisdom tooth located. But still i had to choose an auspicious date for the extraction.
Anyway, he cleaned and polished my teeth, arhhh, i haven't been near those machines ever since i finish my course of braces. Dentish quite "farnie" one, he told me to raise my hand up if I ever feel pain. I really almost can't tahan when he start using the machine to scrape my front teeth, was raising my hand to signal I felt pain, and though he would stop for a while. Yet he was apologising, kept saying "sorry " . Alamak! But then hor, come to think of it, at least this male dentist more gentle than the female dentists I encountered. Could still remember the Primary School dentist, she was so fierce that nobody wants to visit her clinic .

After washing my mouth full of bloodied saliva, he was like commenting me : "Yr threshold of pain quite high huh." Haha, he expect me to cry & whine meh? That type of pain I still can bear, though shed 2 tears at some point.

Spent $75 on today's x-ray, dental consultation, polishing and cleaning. Need to see him again next week to do fillings and then another date for extraction. Which will cost me more than $100.

Aiyoh, how to save $ with expenses like that.

WL sent me his blog's url. initially thought that was his new blog, then realised that was the same old blog he had been using. quite surpised that he's sharing. And need to thank him for the wishes he had wrote on his latest blog.
Had spent time looking at this past issues. hai.. he seems to have some wrong ideas. While he was worrying that he may be giving me some wrong ideas, I at that time was also afraid that he might get the wrong idea. Think need to clarify with him later.

Movie & CD

Had free " Residential Evil: The Apocalypse " movie tickets (kindly sponsored for Maxim readers, and of cos staff get tickets too) for yesterday evening show at Jade 1. Had asked WL along, cos i know my gal friends not interested in all these creepy sci-fic. Didn't even watch the 1st part showed years ago, but heck care lah, free tickets. Initially, can't figure out who's the good guy, who's the bad guy. I wonder was it because I am not feeling well (had runny nose & cough) that cause my mind unable to interpret those "scary scenes", cos at the later part of the show, i feel numb watching those "dead, virus infected ppl" walking down the streets, eating ppl. Or was it the show is really that "sian" at the end. Had to admit that some parts really gave me a shock, but those are more due to the "perfect timings", than the special effects.

WL offered to send me home after the show, which puzzled me initally. Cos he dun drive, and if he send me, he will take another hour to reach home. Futhermore, when we were together, he seldom send me home. Rejected that offer cos it's really inconvenient, and I am fine to travel home alone. If friend has a car, and offer to send me home, then i won't mind lah. Hahaha, i also dunno why i like car rides.

***********************
Bought 2 CDs today. And co-incidentally, they are compliation albums.

1) one of my favourite singers, Jacky Cheung latest compliation-- Black and White, which contains 5 new songs and other songs from his albums from 1984 -2004. Managed to get one of the last few "Black limited edition" albums, which means I also get a free poster.

2)Elva Hsiao's compliation -- 美丽的插曲. Tempted to buy last month, so now finally can't resist. A nice package, contained postcards of her previous albums and intro, a nice lyric book and 2 CDs.

So that means I can't buy anymore CD this month.

ribbon

no mood to blog this week.
lot's of things are in a mess.
Dun understand why the top management can pretend nothing ever happened.

Anyway. for the past few days, our office are filled with ribbons. Cos two of my colleagues are selling them for charity.
One is a Pink ribbon project , where Pink ribbons in brooches form are sold ,for Breast Cancer Foundation .
Another is ayellow ribbon project (yellow ribbon fastened to a safety pin), to raise funds for the ex-convicts.

These two ribbon projects had been mention over TV news reports, in newspapers & magazines recently. So buy one to help the people if you see volunteers selling them. :)

"So you still have the sms? Can sent back to me, so that I dun have to re-type".

No more MediaWorks?

so tired, realy u want to write, but have to cos it's an important news. So make it a quick one.
thais afternoon, was busy packing for the Maxim roadshow that i did not bothe to check my emails. until my colleague told me she saw quite the ppl at Mediawork at the carpark smoking, cos they might be quite stressed and this afternoon, news come out that Mediacorp and SPh's mediaworks merge. SPh only get to keep 20% share. Sounds like mediaoworks being bought over instead. And chances of Channel I continuing operation are rather slim.

Really shocking huh? No hints dropped b4.

We in magazines are not so affected, but like my colleague said, she feel so sad for the staff at mediaworks. After 4 years of hard work, there came this news that the two media companies merge back. All the efforts put in were wasted.

Quite a few ppl used to think that SPH will buy over Mediacorp, not this way of merging...
********************************************

just some quote i found interesting from a fwd email :
"I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken from you too soon and all the less important ones just never go away. And the real pains in the ass are permanent. "

Maxim trade party 16 Sep

Went to attend (or mainly help-out) Maxim traders party at Rouge. left teh office during lunch time to go there to help out.
Heh heh, we took a long time to have lunch.
Went to this Serene Centre ( along adam rd, b4 turn into Bk timah rd) to have main meal at the Black Canyon . I ate the American fried rice, which other ate the green curry, Quite funny when it's logo look like an outback America franchise, it serves fusion food, like my colleague who ordered this spagetti in green curry sauce.

According to my colleagues, though the green curry doesn't look spicy and it seems diluted, it is very very hot.

Then went to have 'dessert' at Island Creamery, just a few shops away, . OOOOOh, they have nice mudpie and unique ice cream flavours. we ordered a scoop of horlicks ice cream, teh-tarik ice cream, chendol ice-cream and reverse oreo ice cream, with a big slice of mudpie. emmmhhhh,Ice-cream tasted so yummy. I like the teh-tarik ice cream the most.

Together with D., we packed arodn 500 goodie bags for teh guests. Luckily the small items were redemned in a way where they have to present the coupons to the Maxim girls (models). So we only need to slot in a coupon and the copy of Singapore Maxim into the goodie bag.

Party started from 7-10pm. and I helped out at the counter from 7-9pm. lots of gate-crashers and cheapo people. only our RSPV list, less than 100 confrimed turning up. Yet we had more than 400 guests. there were lots of cases where one people bring in lots of friends.

Drinks serve on the house were Chiva (whisky) shots and a cocktail called "Chivas Maxim" -- a drink specially concocted for the nite. There were two version, one is chiva with lime. one is Chiva with lime plus some scotch whisky (that taste weird).

Shall i say that lucky I was on duty, or else I would be drunk. for i only get to drink 2 glasses after my work. Was told that a few of our colleagues were drunk, one gotta be carried out ofter she concussed, and two got into a fight. Apparently, this Chiva is quite potent, a guy immediately turn red after taking a double-shot.

Anyway, my group and i stick to our selves an din mixed around with teh trade people ( no point lah). We went to take our "Magazine cover photo" at the Canon booth where they were promoting the photo printers. those interested get to stand in front of this big magazine cover, and have yr pic taken by the canon digital camera and collect yr photo prints from the new small photo printers. We jokingly asked for male models uinstead of the female Maxim girl, and our good colleague really help to arrange for two male models to take pic with 5 of us .

Special request woah. And i gotta stand beside one model.

Anyway, saw a few things which really make us shake heads. Like ppl from top management really like dun care abt their image, grab every opportunities to be close with the models. Hai.......

Guys......

Tuesday, September 14, 2004

Finally, received a copy of the local Maxim magazine produced by my company. And free lanyards too. Didn't dare to wear the red-black one as afraid it will "lak-seh".

Fliped through the contents, quite interesting though. Especially when we can recognised some locations of the photoshoot. Haha ,all unglamourous places within our office compound . Hmm still can't figure why men like to read these type of magazines......

Packed some stuff for the Maxim trade party this Thur (which most likely i'll be handling the reception, or be a "door bitch". Duh! the guests invited are all MD, GM , or whatsoever big-shots of the companies, how can I bark at them if they bring along their gate-crashing friends). Also packed the stuff for the roadshow this weekend. Haha my guys friends, if u buy a copy of Maxim at the roadshow, u can get a free goodie bag. interested? $5 a copy only. Cost less than Singapore's FHM too!

Posting for 10 Sep 2004 Friday

Had to write abt what i did at work this morning. Arggghhhhhh. never have I been in contact with that "thing".
All becos of the Maxim magazine my company is launching . I was made to help out to collect some stuff to be packed into the Maxim goodie bags, and turned out I had to collect 2500 packs of condoms!

Luckily there were packed in boxes, and one of the boxes used was a Maggi mee carton box. When I was pushing the trolley filled with cartons of toothpaste and condoms to our office store room, a male colleague raised his eyebrows and asked " Maggi Mee huh?"

" Nah, Condoms." i relied nonchalantly.
"Really huh?" he was amused.

Sian lah, not I want one ok. Sms my friends, telling them what "unique experience" i had. And my best friend replied " heehee, u din't keep some for yourself".

Duh!! Should have replied her if she want some. She needs them more than me. Hahaha

Posting for 11 Sep 2004 Sat

Went to Suntect City in the evening to act as one of the 30 audience judges of the Channel u's idol search show The Next Big Thing.
I wasn't as excited as other when Benjamin Ng won. Had to admit he belong to the "teenage gals 'idol" type. But till now, he only showed his dance moves, didn't sing or act. Wonder how far he can make it once he embarked on his career as an artiste.

Was surprised that Sa gang yun didn't make it to the 3rd round even though i know he can't make it with his "pai-nang look". Was hoping to see how good his kou1 cai3 is in the 3rd segment.
My vote goes to contestant no. 12, Zheng PeiYu, who unfortunately, had her microphone slipped off, yet she handled the situation well.

As for William Hung, think his comments are all so boring, the usual " great performance". " i enjoyed it". The only different and IRONIC comment he gave to a contestant was " I think his singing could be better".

I thought what she did for the past few weeks were bad, but this evening found out something worse.

i really can't believe a mother would frame her own daughter, try to avoid letting her own daughter to meet her grandmother (which is her own mother).

Evening reached home, saw aunt ( my mum's sis) at our house, Mum cooked laska for family, knowing i cant't eat spicy food. My brother had to call me to tell me to buy my own dinner. While eating my takeaway food in the kitchen, aunt came over and asked why I didn't visit grandma's house awhen the rest of family did go a few weks ago.

"Huh?" i was shocked what made her think that. It was my mum who dun wish to see me go. I recalled that day, i heard mum telling father and bro that they are going to grandma's house, but she didn't tell me, as she had start to gave me her " black face" look as she had demanded more $ from me and i did not increase the monthly allowance ( how to give when i did not get pay increase?).

Knowing her pattern that she will mentioned that I'm thick-skin to tag along when she never ask, or will mention to the rest that it was i who don't want to go , i purposely asked my bro in front of her that If I had to go. My bro replied " it's better that you don't go"
And they all left without asking me.....

Darn! Bet she was telling lies to relatives that i don't want to go, didn't respect elders.

Aunt mentioned how disappointed my grandma was, as they were celebrateing her b-day together with my cousin's birthday that day. She said that grandma didn't want to cut cake and was waiting for me, tried to called me but her vison was blurred. And she even asked left a slice of ice-cream cake for my parents to take home to give me.

"huh? Cake? i dunno there was". i was shocked. Aunt was also in disbelief when I confirmed that i never ate nor seen the slice.
(later saw in the video that my sis took that day, which showed there was really a cake, so Aunt can't be lying)

I was hurt. Not hurt that i didn't get to eat the cake, hurt by i know what my mum did -- took home the cake, hid it, from me, yet told them i did eat it.

What shocked me more was that aunt told me that grandma's health was deteriorating. she starts having headaches every now and then, getting dizzy and had been seeing docs more often. she advised me to ignore whatever my mum said to me next time and go visit my grandma as she seems to have only a few more years....

To think my mum did not even let me know anything all this, she scolded me everyday, makes things difficult for me, just over money matters. I dunno why all of a sudden she start making trouble ober this. She really can't expect me to give her half of what i get as i had to pay for my bills and school fees. I had already got a pay cut ever since i switched job from public to private sector last year. i am earning abt hundreds less a month, yet I never deduct my allowance for her .

Two years ago, i will give her more $ in august as i gotten pay increase of a hundred in Aug. But now, this new job only give pay increase at every Jan, and i only got a meagre $10+ pro-rated increment in jan . How can i give her hundred dollars more when i don have it?!!!!! Till now she would not believe the pay i am getting now is abt the same as my starting pay as my 1st job. Initially , i thought she was having menopause, so try to bear with it. But she is really horrible, start to say taht whatever i eat cost $. morning, when i make half a pack of Milo, she start nagging that that milo cost $. It's not she don't have $. My Dad's working, gave half of his pay and she's working too.

She knows that Grandma her own mother dotes on me, yet she never tell me abt what's happening to her.....

Come to think of it, it's very ironic that i can't communicate well with grabdma, as i don't how to speak dialect well, yet grandma loves me more than her. on my 21st birthday. It's usually the custom where parents to give the child a golden key, yet i received a gold pendant from grandma, present from aunt, yet not even a birthday wish from parents. When she saw my presents from friends, she scorned "What's so great abt birthday!"

Till now, I could remember what she had said years ago that 'raising kids is for the kids to give her money to support her when they're older'. So that means she raised us is because of the money that children will have to give her, not becos she love us.....

昨晚花了两个小时做张生日卡给他.......
感触很多......
有好多话想对他说, 但最后只在卡上写下简单的祝福.

只要那张生日卡能顺利到他手中,我已心满意足了.

pottery & other

had my 2nd pottery lesson @ Clay Studio, Bras Basah complex this evening. Today we learnt coiling. To me, it takes more time to do than last week's pinching menthod, as had to roll strangs of clay, coil them one by one. .

but i think my artwork today is better than last week (the "ribbon" dish). Next week doing glazing lor.. must think of the colour combi.

Had a small Pri-School classmate gathering yesterday. this time saw Jianyun. Four of us had dinner at XO Holland Village Fish Head bee hoon (located at Chinatown's mei shi jie). We ate the fried fish slice beehoon, big butter crab, pai2 gu2 wang2 and you2 cai4.
Food really damm nice. Next time will bring other friends along.

**************
Didn't bother to type in the chinese words, cos now I'm feeling not too good.
Angry, hurt, sad actually, by someone who care more abt money she can get.......

drunk

Thought I'll be but....
Nah not me, it's someone else.

yesterday, was the first time i drank more than my own rule of "not more than 2 glasses". So today wake up, head fekt skightly heavy.

Afternoon at 4.45pm, our office have it's monthly regular party. How weird my bosses are. Everyday, they want us to reduce cost, yet they suggested this monthly parties where each department will take turn to host, given a budget of $300. (What can u buy to feed abt 100 ppl with $300). I think the parties are more for the top amanagement to bring in their guests.....

Also strange that there seems to be lot of liqueur, given the tight budget.

Anyway, our small group didn;t wish to hang out at the lounge (in our office), so we sat at a corner chatting. felling bored, 2 gals when to grab a mug full of Johnnie Walker (see, this type of ah-peh whisky shows that the party is actually meant for the top management ppl) and sprite. Then we played some lame games like 猜拳 ,007 and 中级密码. Who ever lose drink the mix lor. Think I drank abt one mugful of mix ( we made abt 4 mugs), face turn red for a while but not drunk.

After 7pm, went to Wala Wala at Holland Village. Promotion was one-for-one for housepours and wines. They ordered a jug of Hoegarden (so make that two). then someone order another jug of vodka lime and Hoegarden. plus there was a free jug of Carlsberg from the neighbouring table. That makes it 7 jugs in all.

Yeah had to admit we 're rather rowdy playing 007, finger guessing games, digging at the birthday cake (celebrated C. & A.'s birthdays) instead of cutting it into slices. One of the female colleagues later became so hiigh that she was desperate to drink the last bit of beer.

Think she got drunk. which left her close colleagues feeling a little guilty as they thought she can handle it.

There's a difference between "can drink" and "dare to drink".....
