I dunno where this is good or bad.....

Guess my Interview of 李圣杰 led to my mum knowing there is such a singer in the industry.

Yesterday night, while watching Channel 8's news, there was a report on Halloween scence in Singapore. And when my mum heard the news anchor mentioned 万圣节(Halloween), she said this to my bro:

“李圣杰,万圣节(杰)”

I dunno whether to laugh or to cry....

What to do at MacDonald's. hahaha

Well, this is a super overdue piece

In the midst of TXY Banjiang in Aug, we the "老人s" slipped out to MacDonalds.

And of cos the guys from 漫画快餐 are the ones with lots of creativity.
Can't remember how the conversation start. They mentioned that a long long time ago, when they hang out at Macs and apparently nothing to do after finishing their food, they began to play with the paper cups and found that they could make "tribal chiefs" out of them.

(if u still cant figured out why it seems like a tribal chief, well , think of the inverted "M" arch as the eyes. )

So now , after many "evolution" through the years, here we present you an "Arabian Tribal Chief" using the paper carton of the new chicken foldover, large cup, large fries Carton, serviettes and straw.

Now, u'll never look at MacDonald's cups the same way again on yr next trip right?

Art @ Vivocity

Met up with WenXin last Sat 21 Oct to check out the new shopping mall—Vivocity. Where else!

I bought my digicam along, intending to track down all the sculptures of Vivocity, as featured in the Straits Times, but just as soon as we entered the Basement 2 of the mall from the MRT, this hop caught our attention.

So many candies, chocolates!!
The shop was really congested with people from all age groups. I thought parents would be controlling their kids, saying things like : “No , these are bad for yr teeth”.
But to our surprise, we saw families in the queue with basketful of candies and chocolates. It really make us seemed so pathetic cos the two of us only bought 2 boxes of Raffaello chocolates, a Wonka bar and a coconut Kit Kat bar. Actually I was really tempted to purchase another Honeycomb kit Kat bar and some mint chocolates… kekeke

走马看花地逛了B2的商店,we proceed to Lev 1 to check out the sculptures (there aren’t any shop in B1).

There we spotted this, Flower Tree by Choi Jeong Hwa from Korea. It is a 6m tall spherical bouquet of colourful fiberglass flowers “blooming” amid real tree.

Then we checked out this 13m fiberglass sculpture which is simply titled “Snowman” by inges idee art collective from Germany.

Wanted to take pictures of Aphrodite’s Roses (Wine-red rose sculptures) by Hiroshi Yoshimizu from Japan but unable to do so, cos some people who don’t know they are art pieces, mistook them as seats and sat on them.

Walked ard Level, and then Level 2 and then we proceed to level 3. There were quite a few sculptures at the outdoor pool, but this caught my attention.

This art piece is titled “There” by Henk Visch. It is a fibreglass sculpture of a gymnast frozen in flight. It is powered by motor & occasionally turns in the air. And such a coincidence that was we approached it, it was turning (for less that 10 secs) . But it’s too late for use to dig out our cameras. Hence we checked out the Food Republic food court at the same level before we returned to the pool again to take pics of it.

Now then, if you are wonder where the hell am I so smart to know the titles and the artists, well…, the credits goes to the report on Strait Times, 17 Oct 2006 . The info are extracted from there .

Updated entry regarding 14-20 Oct 06

Was intending to write abt the events happened on14 Oct yesterday, but was so upset over something. It still have not been solved and getting worse.

Dun wanna talk abt it.
Anyway lets get back to what’s pending reporting

On sat, had a early bird KTv session with fannie, flutterbly and her frd. Will only dare to try out newer songs in KTV rooms. Fannie was so surprised when the bill came --$7.50 each.

Met up SD to get ticket. Then she just asked if I am interested to attend Yi Jie Qi (易桀齐) live! Singing performance at Ai Qing Hai. Wasn’t interested in him and since there is a free “music lesson” and to avoid from being a light bulb of fannie and her bf, so off I went with SD.

Strictly speaking, I do no think it was an impressive performance. It can’t be compared to Li Sheng Jie ‘s Live but at least it’s still better than n the Huang Guo Jun’s performance I had seen last year.

Somehow, I’m kind of tired when I heard the host , his friends and he himself commenting things like though he is not that popular, the passion he have for music, the efforts he had put in ….

Firstly, I do not think he had really put in a lot of effort. Using poor memory as an excuse, he always has to refer to the clear folder containing all the lyrics to the song. Furthurmore, the songs are all his works.

Shalln’t talk abt his vocal prowess and techniques as I am not an expert in this area. Somehow just feel that

When he sang those top hits which he had wrote for other singers, such as “如果有一天“,“你是我的幸福吗?”,we couldnlt help thinking if he had chosen to records them in his album instead, they won’t be that popular among the listeners.

15 Oct 2006

Completed an oriental-style necklace using the ebads I had biught from the craft shop yesterday morning. Guess I am hooked.

16 Oct 2006

Tot the usual chibambom will be going down to muchuan as mentioned earlier, but was but was put on BR Flight. (haha u know what I mean). But I was shocked that when I had stepped into the café, there no no other patrons! Most likely due to the haze.

Spare me from sending dedications slips too, for I just had to shout out the songs I wanna hear, and the 3 Monsters can attempt new songs.
And before the clock strikes 10pm, sips appeared at the door, holding a guy’s hand. Since she had publicized it on her blog, those who know her shall know who he is.

17 —18 Oct

Really pissed off by my current sup (or boss). Making me forking out hundreds dollors of stuff to claim, and he had the audacity to say he have no $ . What kind of boss is this.

And there are others “vomit blood” incidents which I dun wanna type out.

Anyway, I retreated into my own world once I reached home. Put all my energy into the making another beaded necklace.

19 Oct

Working under a monster is really sian.
What spoilt my mood was that the responses we get from some people regarding charity donations.
Somehow its seems like 人做某些事都是有心机的。
It’s really demoralizing that it is always we the 3 musketeers doing all the work and other just tapping onto us and some “active” members are just being active to get something out of us.

20 Oct

Remember the long interview experience which I had mentioned in my prev post.
I thought I had flunked it. Yet this morning, while I was still on the train, I received a call saying I was one of the shortlisted candidates and they’d like me to go down to meet the team members.
Now, there’s one more thing to worry abt.

Some Songs Are Just Not for the Opposite Gender

This is what I learnt after a ktv session (I’d rather call it a singing practice session as we sang in Hall) with my friend.
There are some songs which people like to sing, even though it is originally sang by a singer of the opposite gender. Eg: gals still try to Jay Chou’s songs and I do seen guys attempting songs by A*Mei & Liang Jing Ru.

Well. What happened was that after issuing the challenge for me to sing Coco Lee’s 《被爱的女人》, somehow the verse “让爱固定下来” kept ringing in his head. Since I had accidentally dedicate the song again, I challenged him to sing it.

Despite him singing it in a suitable key, and changing the words “女人”to “男人” ,it still sounds weird and we couldn’t stop laughing.

If u know the tune, trying singing this:

“在镜子前面 我是个被爱的男人
他就在门外 这个周末我可以依赖在他的胸怀”

Sounds Gay right? Hahahaha..

Then to avoid from being “gayish”, he tried interchaging the words “我” & “你” (as in “我” becomes “你” and vice versa). But then it really seems 无理头,& I kept giggling.

U try singing these :
“你的美丽要我的温柔 帮你保留下来 “
“你不要爱一再一再彩排,你不是每次失恋后都能重新再来”

还记得阿杜(the MuThu Singh)曾笑说《被爱的女人》是首情妇歌。 这分明是为女生量身定做的,所以男人最好不要碰这么“姑娘”的歌。

13 Oct 2006

Took leave to attend an interview . Actually I am not interested in the after knowing the location of the office, (they only told me abt the exact location after I confirmed my attendance) but decided to go in the end to “honour my words” and not to create a bad record.

As what my friends said, should go there just to gain experience.

Well what an experience it was! For it was really a different experience. It wasn’t similar to the interviews I had 2 years ago (and years before that), though the job scope is similar. The interview last from 4pm to 5.35pm. Really mentally draining….

Then met up with the “Poly schoolmates & Gang) for a drink at WineBos, Huifen mentioned that they had a free bottle of red wine at the shop , as the last time they weny, they enjoyed this “buy 2 get one free” promotion. So the 6 of us enjoyed one bottled of red wine and ordered another bottle. Quite cheap lah, with each of us paying only $4.50 each.
For yr info, the place is more like a lounge as no smoking were allowed.

Guessed people won’t believe what innocent things we did. Think Megan started of a 冷笑话 regarding the magic trick she can do with her toes. Then this led to us thinking of other lame magic tricks we can do.

Wendy then suggested us playing After two categories (Chinese words and Countries), Megan and I still remain unscathed. Actually there wasn’t any forfeit. More often, we were interrupted by KL, who was unfamiliar with the Chinese phrases we used, e.g: 香囊, 囊中之物.

And something funny happened. In the midst, Huifen started giggling and she struggled to say “怎么我的朋友脸上都有一颗痣,而且是在右边。” And true enough, with the exception oft of Huifen, the remaining 5 of us all had a mole on our right chin (of cos some are smaller). And to think after so many years of knowing each other, we only find out abt it now.
And more 冷笑话continued:

“我们应该叫“五月痣”!”
“不是啦!是‘五颗痣’。”

“我知道为什么Huifen没有痣了。因为她皮肤白白的,痣也是白色的。”

yeah, 很冷。

weddings week

6 Oct 2006

Took a day off (yeah I had a day off for working on a whole Sat early last month. Kinda loo-gee leh) to attend Liying’s (and his huaband Alan) ROM.

It is the first time I attended a friend’s ROM at ROM building. Haha. Huifen’s had her Rom held in her house last year, whereas other friends only invite me to wedding dinner.

We spotted Liying as my friend & I reached the building. Yes, she looked so pretty in her pink gown, curly and real thick eyelashes (and we do think she is the prettiest among the other brides presented). She also invited some of her poly ex-classmates along. Huifen and her husband reached abt 20 mins later. Once they came, Huifen became the target for teasing. She seems to gained a few pounds on her usual skinny frame, and as her husband put it :嫁给他后,好吃好住。

Seems like quite a few couples chose to get married on that day, despite it being a weekday. Perhaps it is also due to the Mooncake Festival which falls on the same day.

We moved into the room as the LCD showed up the name of the couple, asking them to standby.

Franly speaking, the ROM process seems so short. Less than 5 minutes. The Justice of Peace seems to be in a rush ( we were told that he mentioned to the couple that he was already behind schedule). The couple said their vows (which was a different way from Huifen & Jeffrey’s ROM held last year) , exchanged rings and then we were ushered out of the room.

As usual, we took a few pics and then we proceed to Goodwood Park to have our High Tea Buffet – a treat from the newly weds. The cakes and the chicken wings were great. Had a round of main course, appetizers and desserts . So that makes 3 rounds. We were so full that we decided to skip our dinner..

It’s really us for Liying to invite us 4 to her ROM as we can have someone to chat with as we are not familiar with her other friends , not to mention her husband’s friends. Haha.

Then, Huifen start to comment that my ROM will be very special as I always have specials touches to the parties I organized.

Anyway, as for her customary wedding, it is likely to be held late next year, after they have receive the keys to their flat.

8 Oct 2006

Attend a colleague’s wedding at Sheraton Towers. It’s quite a formal & proper event. Can’t believe there was actually no “sabo~ing” from any tables at all. Not that there weren’t any liqueur available. Having attended quite a few weddings from young, this wedding really brought a new light that not all couples will get sabo on their wedding dinner. Guess it really has to depend on the atmosphere. As nobody starts the ball rolling, others also feel “shy” to sabo the couple.

It’s time to blog abt something apart from the normal

Well, I’m supposed to write another流水账 of what happened over the past week but then 孙燕姿’s 《雨天》reminds me of something.

There are songs which I “fall in love” with them instantly not because of the melody or I can relate to the lyrics of the song. It can be just because of one powerful sentence.

Well, seems like there ‘s a craze over the Mooncake Festival Toto Draw. For the past few days, my colleagues have been talking abt it.

And right in our midst, there emerge a “bookie” – no, he’d rather call himself as “investor”. He went ard, collating bets from colleagues and in the end manage to secured 14 “clients” (out of ard 30) with each investing $5.

However, due to the overwhelming response of Singaporeans, by the time he went down to place the bets, all the I-toto tickets were already sold out. Not to make a wasted trip, he invested on other different combo of the game.

Quote of the day:这不是赌博,是投资。

Well, shall see if we can get our dividends next week.

Quite obvious that I like the song, if not, I would not have bothered to "touch up" the lyrics.

Meetings

Had been trying to catch up with my friends after my birthday, let me recall:

24 Aug - Swensen dinner at Plaza Sing with L
27 Aug - Cream Bistro with LL, LY and Fannie came after they left.
9 Sep – Bugis with WX
16 Sep – Met up 2 Taitais @ Orchard , then movie at Cathay.
24 Sep – KTV session with Poly friends
28 Sep – Dinner at Fisherman Wharf with Ah Shuis (the SPH gang)
30 Sep – Dinner with FL, YF and then kopi session with HY

Still need to catch up with a few others, especially the Oct birthday boys & gals. I have 10 friends who are borne in this month.

Anyway last Friday (29 Sep) was a “siao” Friday. My company decided to make it an “Active Day”. Lots of activites were cramped within the afternoon. We left oofice for Sentosa at 1.30pm.

1st activity: 2 rounds of luge and skytrain. For the fainthearted, they took Skytrain through & fro. I was driving cautiously at the 1st round of the luge ride, obeying the “slow down” signs, but then saw with a few experienced riders zooming pass. Hence for the 2nd ride, most of us were driving at a much faster speed. Honestly speaking, after the 2nd ride, you ‘d think the distance is so short that you ‘d wish you can went round “chasing cars” longer.

2nd Activity:
1.5km Nature Walk. A chance for us to feed the “Combat Mozzies”. Needless to say, we all end up perspiring. Yet we had…

3rd Activity:
Captain’s ball match at the beach.
Siong!

And if it’s not enough, we had…

4th Activity:

Telematch. We din want to do it, but have to as need to accumulate points. So played a round of “catching water bombs with towels”. Think we were supposed to have a freebies match but due to the lack of time (we. were promised to be let off at 5.30pm) it was cancelled.

Actually thanks to the experiences of TXY Captain’s ball match, I didn’t feel thoroughly exhausted. In fact I had to rush home to washed up and get changed before meeting my friend for KTV.

Think Chengyao & other NP juniors will be interested in this.

So due my friend who had asked the “famous librarian” along for singing, I gotta see his 庐山真面目.
Had often heard from Yoyo, Huimei and Yuzhi that there is this handsome librarian at their Poly. Chengyao even demonstrated how the students naturally stopped looking at their books and glanced at the librarian whenever he walked past.

Well, this 小帅弟 (he is much younger than me, haha) also brought a friend along. Until my friend turned to him to mention something, only then I confirmed that he is the one my juniors have been talking abt. I wanted to tease him by saying “久仰大名” but decided not to in case my friend said I “sian” him again. ( well, cos early last week he mentioned he’ll be asking the temp librarian along and I asked if he is the handsome librarian whom I had heard abt yet I was met with my friend’s reply “ u wanna sian him har?”. Sorry arh, for your info, I am not interested in 小弟弟,juz curious abt this 传奇人物 that Chengyao, yuzhi and huimei seems to be so excited whenever they mentioned him.)

Anyway Yoyo, one sad news for you. You wun be seeing him in yr library anymore as last Friday was his last day of service at the library. That was the reason why my friend asked him out for KTV. So I foresee the library will not be as crowded as before? Hahaha.

******************************
My msn nic for today is something I had thought of:

*因为有距离,所以才会客气*

Flutterby said 有意思,while I think it is still a bit too simple….
