我的决定是对的.

“我的决定是对的。”~张惠妹《我要快乐》

Was telling Du & ZhuYin-look-alike last week that I really felt like cringing whenever I had to sing the last sentence of the song. Cos I dunno if the decision I made was right.

花了很多时间去考虑,询问很多朋友的意见。
可是,最后还是得由自己去做决定。
由于不是大家一致认同的决定,我很难说服自己“我的决定是对的。”

(continue this post after a week).

Ok ok. I shall reveal what I had chosen, for those who do not know.
I choose the company which is located far away from my home (perhaps I shall get myself an mp3 player), pay increment at a later date and jobscope which is more challenging than the other.

Even though the other offer’s pay (after a year) is tempting, I really can’t see myself to do something which I do not like just because of $.

A few friends comments that they would have choose a simpler job, cos at this point, they would like to settle down, have time to plan their wedding or new homes. While some just want a simple job, which allows you leave exactly on the dot hence having more time for activities (meet friends, took up courses…).

I do have plans for further studies and I know the organization I had chosen to work for is located at the other end of Singapore. But from the interactions with them, it seems that they are more encouraging towards life-long learning, they mentioned that I could start work earlier so that I can leave earlier on those dates then. (Otherwise I just hope there will be vacancies at the headquarters and I can be transferred to the head office then).

I did took my friend’s advise to list down the various factors to aid me in choosing: traveling distance, stress level, future boss, benefits, environment. But then how are you really gonna to judge the future boss and environment base on what you had seen in the interviews…

I have to say, if I care only abt myself, $ is not a factor, I would not even have to make a choice between the two in the first place. Things will be much simpler then. Just “grab & go”.

Anyway, I had signed the contracts. To my surprise, there is this flexi-benefit entitlement of $520 after a year. Not bad arh.

2006 Xmas Lightings vs 2005 Xmas Lightings

Went to Orchard Rd to take pics of Xmas lighting last evening. We couldn’t help commenting that many of the decors seem “recycled”. So before I write a proper post on the Xmas lightings, here are some creations I had did out of boredom (yet din spent many effort on them ) on the similarities of 2006 Christmas Lightings and 2005 Christmas Lightings.

torn...

I was torn.
It was a case of more choices = more trouble.

really had a hard time weighing the two choices I was facing.

Option A :
- pay same as option B
- though a bit far, but there are 2 direct bus
- jobscope boring -- managing schedules and doing powerpoint slides
- boss seems veru authorative (cos interview panel only consist of him, HR officer not present)
- dunno the environment cos they never arrange for me to meet up
- next pay increment date in late 2007

Option B:
- Pay same as option A
- travelling distance very incovenient, will tale at least 1,5 hours.
- environoment & colleagues & boss seem nice
- jobscope more challenging (include HR function which I wanna learn) & I was told that there are some periods which can be very stresfull
- next pay increment date is mid 2008 cos by joining in Feb 2007, they are unable to access me in mid 2007.

Consult some of my friends and then they were thinking of monetary wise, option A is better. But i really cnat see myself having stuck with doing something I dun like just becos of a higher pay in the following year.

However for Option B, there is also a risk. since they are so keen to have me onboard, willing to wait till Feb. They must be having some expectations from me.... Also have to factor in the travel cost and travel time. I might be tired in the long run...

Torn... this is not a case of "spoilt for choices"

(to be continued)

姑娘nails& 超可爱 necklace

If u think my super gu-niang handphone is not enough (refer to my prev post), I had taken a step further by having super gu-niang finger nails!

Last Friday, 17 Nov, we left office early to view some Public Service exhibition. Spent only 30 mins there so we all shave an early Friday off. As ther is still quite some time before I meet the SPH gang dor dinner, I went to 拜拜 first before walking ard in Bugis Village.

Though I have more than an hour to spare, Decided to have a manicure cos:

1) till now I dunno how to cut my finger nails straightly. ( few friends will know I cant interpret straight lines)
2) Nails always get chipped off. Guess it is time to give them some TLC.
3) Recently start develop this habit of pricking my nails when I am nervous or in intense thinking. So was thinking if I done my nails up pretty, I wun bear to prick them.
4) Manicure package are cheaper there. For a classic package, it is $18, which includes exfoliating and massage.

One bad point is that the whole process took me more than 1 hour, which left me unusually late for my dinner appt with SPH gang. Furthermore I lost my watch ard Bugis area. Sob Sob. Guess I’ll have to make a new one.

Have a round of steamboat with the SPH Gang. Nicco was mentioning French & I were
狠角色 or was it 很角色。 She pronounced it as “hen jiao se”, which, erh I think was incorrect. Frankly speaking, I really dunno when it is appropriate to use the phrase.

Told them abt my job switch plans. Which I will talk more about in the next post...

Weekends were spend slacking at home. Nah, I could not sleep until 自然醒。Tiger was at her “menopause temper flaring “ mood again. How can I clean up my are when I wanna use the area to do my necklaces and xmas card.

Made 2 and a half necklaces and 9 Xmas cards over the weekend.

One necklace is a black and white for xuexiang jiejie. Another completed necklace is this supercute necklace (click on pic for an enlarge view):

(realized I made a mistake when typing my blog add. Haha).

Hmm was wonder who will like this as Xmas present. Hahaha.

the "untahanable" hp (at least to guys, i think)

did something to my hp last nite.
Before that, some of my guy friends and gal friends had mentioned that can't "tahan" my hp, specially when it is pic and I had attached an extra girly pink and purple beaded chain to it.

Sometimes, I was tempted to say :“李圣杰都有用过,都没说什么。” (yah, happened to pass him a call made to my phone soon after I had done the interview with him. I was really tempted to take a picture of him holding my girly hp then. hahha)

I decided to make it more "un~tahan~able" by adding crystals stickers on it.

Yah , purple crystals leh. Very me wor. kekek

***************

Actually received a call form the "located in outram area" Company on tue, saying they are kee to take me in.

Huh, response time so fast! I actually prefer the other job leh....

Summary of past few days ‘ events

11 Nov:
Went to the salon to “touch up my hair”. Cant possibly go to interview with my rebonded–effects-wearing-off hair. Found a pair of white shoes to match my interview outfit (discounted price of $20)
Bumped into Huifen & Her Hubby @ Ya Kun. Was surprised when Huifen told me she just attended her colleague’s wedding. Just March this year, she & her ex-fd were the hosts at Huifen’s wedding dinner, and now, she is married to a Japanese.

12 Nov :
Morning, KTV with flutterby & her fd
Afternoon, lunch at Vilage @ Heeren (no much difference fr Marche. The good thing is that they did not impose a minimum spending of $10 on each card.)
Evening, meet up wih Sindra & EW at Marina Square.

13 Nov:
Morning : interview @changi area.
Late afternoon, Interview at Outram area.

Seems like the interview now are not so simple. Gone are the days where the HR asked u how much u knows abt their companies. I was also given an essay question to write and made to do a personality test consisting 230 questions.
By the way, in between the two interviews, I was at home and flipping through the newspaper. Saw that 0221 came out as Starters prize in Sunday’s Toto. Din I mention we managed to raise $221 in donations because of the significance of 0221? If u buy $1, you’ll get $250 leh. Buy $1 I-bet, also will get $20.

Went to Muchuan with Eileen in the evening. It’s good to see Monsters in full strength again. Ah Du finally received his 2 precious volumes of 武林秘籍 -- his lyrics lah.

Anyway, either the world is such a small place or, Singapore is such as small place. In the midst of the session, Eileen found that someone familiar seated right behind us. As she had guessed, they were her secondary school seniors.

And wasn’t it a few weeks ago, I found that someone whom I have not met for 3 years also know affiliated to Muchuan & Du.

Had super after their performance. Reached home ard1am, but I only managed to sleep ard 3am. So right now, I’m feeling restless due to having less than 4 hrs of sleep. Have something on tonite too.

Looks like I have a busy week ahead. Wed, Thur , Fri evenings were filled with activities.

I really need to allocated some time to make my necklaces and Xmas cards. (had already tried to steal some time by making the beaded necklace while listening to Monsters’ performance last nite)

My 1st Xmas Card for this Year

This is the first Xmas card which i had made and already given it out :)
Coincidentally, the person who received my first Christmas card this year is also the one who received the first Chirstmas card I made last year.

Think I am going for "Classic Look" for this year's cards. This may look simple but it took me more than 1 hrs. Well 30 mins was spent on writing the words "Merry Christmas" on the envelope. Noticed the embossed words on the card. It's a new technique I had picked up.

when u have so many offers...

I dunno whether I should feel happy when the company which I had went for the two rounds of interview called me on Monday to tell me they are offering me the position. I had to be honest with them and tell the HR that I wish to start work in Mid Jan only, instead of a month later. Meanwhile she said she will checked with the department and asked me to fax over my payslip, telling me that we will talked again after she get the details .

“detail?”

“Your pay?”

So I guess she must be thinking I may not be interested after with the pay they will offer.

Saw J online, and finally told him abt the name of the organization which is offering the job. He was sort of in the same boat as me, we both happened to apply for different positions under the same organization in July and were only told to go down for interview months later. Should I said he is more lucky, his interview was held earlier than mine and he was offered a position last month.

Was telling him I don’t wanna loogee my bonus cos it is near to year end already, and furthermore I had just submitted 2 more applications last Friday morning cos I din expect to be selected. Expect a headache if the two companies start calling me during these period.

Went to consult a few friends. And all of them seems to think the best way is to try to get convince the organization to late me start work next year.

Well, I dunno if they ‘d…

Then on Tues morning, I saw an email from one of the 2 companies (which I had submitted my application forms to), asking me to go down for an interview. Woah, I just submitted last Friday and their response time is so soon!

Then came the call from the 1st Organisation’s HR, offering me a pay with I had stated as “expected salary” during the interview. Haha maybe I should had asked for more then. But when I asked the HR abt the situation regarding my starting date, she’d mention she will need to check again.

So I was like feeling rather vexed, cos I dunno what is the best decision to make.

And guess what. There came a call from the 3rd company ( yes, the other company which I had submitted my application form to) asking me to go down for interview scheduled on the next day. Told her I can’t make it in such a short notice and she mentioned she will get back to me again.

There my headache grew bigger…

I tried to make the light out of it by joking to my friend :”How come I so popular arh?”. But then I really couldn’t laugh at my own joke…

Then HR of 3rd Company called again, saying they had arranged me for an interview schedule on the same day of the interview which the 2nd company had scheduled (and at different timing).

Haiz!

Suddenly thought of the song that Jonathan Leong sang at the idol finals.:

“Should I stay, Should I go”.

Should I stay for a few months to get the bonus,
Should I go for the offer
Should I go for the interviews?

Time trickling away. 1st organization have not get back to me yet. I went to apply my leave , but still unsure if I should have done so. Cos what if 1st Organisation called back to say they are ok with me joining them in Jan?

烦啊!

Then 1st organization called, saying that the latest I can join them is 18 Dec, cos one of the staff is taking maternity leave, and ask me to think abt it.
Haiz seems like it is not negotiable. Perhaps they think they had given me the best offer by giving me the salary as I had stated to them.

Kind of tired abt this whole process cos it seems to be a waste of my time and I don’t want them to think I am wasting their time too.

Forget abt it lah. Shall focus and pray hard for my other interviews.

Shall see what fate plans for me….

Together We Will Rock for Charity

Attended KDF ‘s Together We Will Rock For Charity Concert at Fort Canning Green on 4 Nov 2006.

Just the night before, we found that we have an extra free ticket. And if you have receive my sms asking you if you are interested, yes , that was the concert I was referring two.

The concert starts at 7.30pm, but we heard that Energy’s fans were there as early as 6am in the morning! When we reached at 3pm, there were already two long queues forming. As expected, some people cut queue. Later, we noticed that they were holding the complimentary (standing at the back) tickets, we can’t be bothered with them. Haha. Let them cut bah, we’d still be the ones with the closer view.

According to the organizers, ticket sales were slow. And it was sad to hear that Singaporean locals dun support local bands. Not many fans of the Superbands bought tickets.. Most of them were holding the complimentary tickets. Guess it’s just the situation here, unless u had made a name for yourself in overseas music industry, the locals won’t be willing to pay to watch your concert.

First to perform was one of the Superband finalists—Lucify. I had never catch an episode of Superband on TV before, so I dun think I have any preference for a particular band.
Well, I have to say despite starting off with a fast number, Lucify failed to lead the crowd. To me, it seems that the lead singer’s vocals is weak. Couldn’t really catch what he was singing. Out of the 4 songs (or was it 5) they performed, I could only recognized “我只在乎你”and “第一天”。

Next to perform was Soul. I have the impression that since they are from Superband, some of them will be playing musical instrument. And it turned out that Soul is like a boy band . Ehh I have to emphasize that I do not have a chance to catch any episode of Superband. Vocal wise, I think they are better than Lucify. As for their dancing skills, eehh, think they still need to work on it. At least they managed to stir some response when they perform their dance (lots of gyrating moves..) If my memory din failed me, they sang “傻瓜”,“ForYou ”and did a dance segment.

Next, of cos , was Superband Champion – 迷路兵。After hearing them performed “you make me wanna fall in love”, “勇气”& “喜欢你”,I was really impressed with their music arrangement. Had heard their version of “勇气” on the airwaves but what they performed that night was a bit different.

Then, it was the overseas artistes’ performances. 先出场的是“元卫觉醒”。They sang “幸福下载”, “天空”,and two other songs which I can’t remembered the titles. They were quite “suay” cos they were the ponly performer that faced hiccups (or rather technical errors). First, another song (supposed to be next in sequence) was played , and then while they were abt to sing another song, there came the tune of Li Sheng Jie’s song. Oh-oh.

One interesting thing they did, (which so far I had not seen any artiste done it before) – one of the duo, 卫私理whipped out his camera at at interlude of their song, said “Hello Singapore” and took a picture of the crowd. 平时都是观众拍艺人,哪有艺人拍观众的。

They also made some changes in the music arrangement of their song 天空。 (this is the reason why I am starting to like listening to Live!).

Next to appear on the stage was Sam Lee, 李圣杰 , in his new hairstyle (dyed black and cropped short at the sides) .Guess everyone know his live! singing prowess. He sang “关于你的歌”,“最近”,“很想说”,“眼底星空”& “手放开”. To me , “眼底星空“ is really a damm difficult song to sing live, and not only he sang it in perfect pitch, he made lots of changes in the 转音 of some notes that bring the song to a high level of difficulty.. Noticed quite a lot of people were recording his Live! performance which make me “dui” . Seems like I better invest in a new camera soon. Hahaha.

4 lucky audience also managed to take home his autographed tennis balls . Too bad he din throw to the area my friends & were standing. (there was a gal in wheelchair right in front of us…)

Stayed on for a while to watch Energy’s performance but we left halfway in the midst of their 1st song as we cannot bear with the screaming fans behind our backs. 再呆下去不是耳聋,就是有可能被推倒。 太恐怖了!

没有遗憾了。
At the last minute, we decided to donate $221 to KDF. The figure makes the whole experience more meaningful.
:)

Gor said something to me which makes me ponder how different I view my life from how other views it.

He (and I know quite a few friends too) seems to think my life isn’t monotonous.

Ehh, I don’t think so leh….

Blog’s stagnant for a few days liao.

Had been orientating a new colleague in my department for the past few days. What I dun like is the stupid email from the u-know-who who want me to report at the end of everyday on what I had taught her.

Darn.

I really feel like a caged animal now.

Anyway, I am taking my off-in-lieu on Friday and hence having a long weekend break. I am not going to pick up any calls from the office. Bleh!

Side-track a bit. Think I flunk the 2nd round of interview (wonder it is good or bad, since location is so far away and have to worry abt the possibility of forgoing my bonus). What makes me think I flunk it is because yesterday, I received an email from them which was by mistake, asking me to go for a 1st round interview. So it seems that they have not decided on any candidates for the previous round and began short listing other possible candidates.
So I din do badly after all. Heheh.

不知不觉,现在已来到11月了。How much longer can I tahan the current working environment….

I wanna break free….
带我远走高飞…..

**********

Was quite happy that we managed to collect $200 in donations for KDF, thanks to some kind, generous souls.

可是,我还是有点小遗憾。I couldn’t help thinking, it would be better if we managed to raise $221 (0221) rather than $200。 0221 is a more special number than 0200, If u know what I mean. Guess I do have some “perfectionist streak” in me…..
