Hip Hop & 雨伞情
Received an sms from my colleague this afternoon mentioning she had bought her attire for hip hop lessons, so we can start the lesson 2moro. Hurray!
For those who knew me, yes I know , stop raising yr brows.
For those who didn't know me well, you see, I am the sort of inactive person who only really works out ONCE A YEAR, for the annual captain's ball match in my club. I dunno how to cycle or play any sports like badminton, tennis and squash ( tot someone said he will be teaching me, huh?). Learnt swimming years ago when I was young but I hate swimming.
I used to walk back home from Bishan MRT ( where my previous company transport drop me off from work) to my home thrice a week. The journey took abt 20-30 mins. It was so call my "regular exercise".
After I had changed job, I reached home later than before. Since the bus I take stops at the bus stop near my home, I didn't bother to exercise anymore.
Then one fine day, during a lunch talk with my colleagues, we were talking abt dreams when one of them mentioned she wanted to be a dancer. Somehow , the dance studio "jitterbug" was mentioned. While others ladies were talking abt checking out kick-boxing classes. I decide to pick up dancing than kick-boxing as I know I don't have the stamina to do the later.
I think my grandpa's illness had something to do with me being more active in exercising. He was seriously ill last month and was in ICU. That was the period were our hearts stopped everytime the phone rang, for fear that.... He is still being hospitalise and I pray that his condition will improve.
So I guess now, while I am still young (but not that young liao), better learn new things and start exercising regularly to keep fit. I know my lungs are rather weak. I tend to get breathless and cough easily. It's difficult for me to take long deep breathe, and I tend to take quick short breaths, which is rather dangerous.
However, there was still a fear in me. I don't know I have the stamina to do an hour of hip hop. After all, I was excused from PE lessons for a year in my sec school days and still have breathing problems now and then. I know my friends have been worried, especially when they encountered days when I have serious attacks and had to be rushed to hospital. I really dislike it when ppl always asked me if I am fine whenever I was playing captain's ball for my team and during camps, they don't let me be in charge of camp stations that may have a lot of physical activities. I feel normal, and dun wish to be branded as a "sick person".
I can't blame them. Afterall, it is the fact that if my attack occurs, there is a chance of it leading to death. (choi!). How to explained to them that the breathlessness experienced is not the same as the breathlessness resulted to strenuous activities. This year Captain ball match, I played all the rounds for my group and was fine. True, I was exhausted easily but I know how not to pushed myself too hard.
Also planned to learn other sports if I have the time and if friends willing to teach. Had tried rollerblading 2 Sundays ago and it wasn't as difficult as I thought. Give me a chance to prove that I am not a 身体衰弱的女子(weak girl). Ok? ;-P.
as for this 雨伞情 "yu san qing", it is a song sang by Hokkien pop queen Huang Yiling. Haha think I had mastered it just now by only spending less then an hour. Maybe it is because T. sang it at last Friday KTV session, so I paid quite a lot of attention on the lyrics (I dun understand hokkien, you see). I took a few days to learn her other hokkien song "爱到才知痛"(ai4 dao4 cai2 zhi1 tong4) last month. Guess once you mastered a hokkien song, it is easier to learn other songs as some of the words are quite common and the style is quite similar. For these two songs, both have only two parts, you sang both parts, repeat both parts again, sing the 2nd part again (the chorus) and repeat last sentence of the song.
hmm, dun think i will turned into Hokkien pop fan lah. Long way to go.
hmm, how come no Hainanese pop singers that we youngsters know of.......
