the last day of 2005

Date check: 31 Dec 2005.
The last day of 2005.

Am not going to write abt my reflections of 2005 and resolutions for 2006 today, for there is something more important to do.

That is: to thank my dear friends and wish them well.

Had my reservations for writing this piece, cos close friends will know I am not the type to express my gratitude with words. To me, it seems awkward to write “flowery phrases” of how I feel abt each individuals. That’s is why the comments I wrote on the greetings cards are rather general…

不善于用言语表达,那就用行动表达.
That’s why I chose to make cards & other small gifts for my friends.

Why the change this year?
I dun see it as a change, it is just a small step forward I am taking. So dun expect much from this piece ok? I won't be listing down my friends full names, you(‘ll) know who you are.

Shall now start off with My Old Friend (u know who you are):

If I’m not wrong, I remember you wishing me well on yr blog last year. Thanks for that ya. Thanks for not revealing my blog even to the closest person in yr life now, even to that extent that it caused a quarrel between you two. Thanks for asking for my permission before revealing my blog address, though it made feel guilty that yr consideration for an old friend would caused such misunderstanding.

Frankly speaking, we communicate better this year, don’t you think so? We are able to talk to each other abt our love ones, the past , without any awkward feelings. 感觉上, 真的好象是个老朋友. Glad that we remain friends.

Wishing you a smooth year ahead in all areas of yr life in the coming year. Remember yr promise to give me a big ang pow on my wedding dinner, but still I think you will get married before me and I promise that you will get an ang pow from me too, hahaha .

To Fannie, my dear friend for 9 years. Wow, next year is going to be our “10th anniversary” . Times really flies then. Was really touched when you showed me yr special photo albums which include the photos of us taken during our “orbit looking” years.
不过, 你现在已经变成了个大美人了.应该感到高兴嘛!

There’s one thing which I had not told you: after all these years, though it seems that I had make more friends, but you are the one whom I have the same “frequency” with. Even when I had not been updating you abt my life during the period when I am busy with my stuff, you are still able to speak on the same wavelength when we meet up. You know there’s our special “tao huay talks”…..

Seems that you had been through quite a few ordeals this year. 很难想象, 瘦小的你, 竟然背负那么多重担 ( I sounded exaggerating hor). 可是,你总算苦进干来. I wish you well in yr love life (hahaha) and hope you can find a job which you like.

To my ex-colleagues cum friends; Thanks for including me in your gatherings, for remembering to save a seat for me for free movie previews. Thanks for your presents given on my farewell, my birthday and on Chirstmas. $210 Isetan vouchers from you all this year! That’s quite an amount huh! Thanks for continuing being my supplier for magazines. keke

Really missed those kee-siao days I had with you all at work. I missed Dr Lowem calling me “ Weeeeng xxxxxx xxxxxx” early in the morning before she head to the canteen for breakfast. I missed the Ah Shui~s calling me Ah Shui. I missed the common table where we shared our snacks. I hope I din turn suay-ku now for I dunno what’s is hot in the market as I a unable to see what are the stuff you all had bought back after your sourcing trips.

Well.. I dunno how many of you will still be working there by end of next year… but still I wish you all retain the “kee-siao ness” in you while working hard to meet the datelines. Life is boring without you all.

To “W” , thanks for putting up with my “kee siao ness” and “kee siao” with me for the past few months. I would not have become “Mrs Li SJ” without yr skills. Really appreciate all the help you had given, especially during my bday gathering preparations. You made such a good coordinator.
And you really proved the saying of “ A friend in need is a friend indeed!” (you know what I mean).

I hope that you will be able to find a job with good pay and benefits, should you decided to quit yr job in 2006. And, I hope you are able to "cure" yr problem and not 沉迷下去. (u know what I am referring to).

To my gor , thanks for all the advise given to this 小妹 of yours this year, and for all these years. 有时跟你讲话, 你却crap 得想让我吐血, 但是, 认真时,却会搬出一堆 “人生大道理”。
Wish that you would obtain a perfect cap score again for yr last semester of studies。 希望你毕业后能大展鸿图。

To the other “三大太太” : thanks for bearing with this 李太太ya。
林太; 2005 seems to be not a good year for you in yr love life。 Treat them as life lessons ba。 也许,经过这些事后, 你学会不再轻易动情。Hope you will not experience any heartbreak again。
王太:thanks for allowing me to ka-jiao you when I am bored at work。 每次都会配合我, 但这样做,是不是有点纵容我, 使我“越陷越深”? keke。
Ok ok, serious now。 Thanks for being a great listening ear when I need one。
Hmmm what to wish for you leh? Wish that you will win the top prize in the coming competitions and hope that 你能跟王先生有近距离的接触。 哈哈哈, 那时你最想要的吧。
金城太:( or should I say “former Tao tai”)The world is such a small place, 真没想到你会认识我另一位朋友。 从你身上, 我学习到一些“哲学”, 像那句“不说是个遗憾, 说了至少有个答案”(是这样写的吗?)。If not for you who commented that I should voiced out my anger, I think now, I would had bottled everything up and explode one day。
你说过别人跑一步, 你就得跑三步才能跟上。 我想我也是如此吧。 那就祝你在2006年里能跟上他人, 然后与他们“平起平坐”。

To the TXYs I had remain in contact with , thanks for all the help given 。 (I always say “ thanks for the help”, seems that I have lots of 贵人)。 HY and XY, you may not be reading this, but I really appreciate tat you are so willing to be my photographer whenever I need。 Big cow and Xiao di, thanks for your free of charge performance in Aug, haha。
Thanks Yoyo and AL for the “sacrifice”, I am so sorry that the “frozen dance” with remains in most of my friends’ minds.
To the ladies whom I often meet for tea sessions, glad that you all will spare some time despite your busy schedules。Glad that we are still able to keep in contact after all these years。 Hey, I will be calling for another session soon。
To qium, thanks for being a great helping hand and the encouragements given。
May you have a smooth year ahead and I am waiting for yr red bomb in a few yrs time。

To JQ ; Surprised? How could I not thank you for providing all those valuable info。Not to mention the time u had spent in uploading, sending those stuff to me。 Looking forward to see you next year。

To “SL” : Well, I think you are not reading this now, I will be really surprise if you do。 But who knows, as you took me by surprise recently。Should I decide to let you read this blog of mine one day, just wanna let you know, I am glad that we are in contact again。

To those friends whom I had missed out , it is not that you are of any less importance。 Just that I dun have time to write out everything。 I do remembered the advise you had given, the jokes we shared。 Thanks for all the great memories you had given me in 2005。

Hope we have a good year ahead in 2006!

大白兔奶糖

Promised my friends that i will blog abt this.

See this pic?

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This are 大白兔奶糖. They are my favourite sweets since I was a child.

Now, show you what I had found in the market:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

ARGHHHHH!!!! Chocolate flavoured and Strawberry flavour 大白兔奶糖!!
I can't accept these!!!.

Was thinking: Must show friends, to see if they would believed that pur childhood sweet had "evolved". Hence bought 3 packs of Chocolate 大白兔奶 and exchanged one with my colleague who bought the Strawberry 大白兔奶
And there was this Red bean flavour which I din buy....

If you wanna know how they tasted, they taste weird.....

总觉得好象失去什么似的.
奶糖因该是白色的啦. 何况是"大白兔" 牌的 (白兔是白的嘛!).

And below are abstracts of lame conversation regarding the sweets with friends.

"为什么要推出巧克力口味的?"
"因为白兔也有 brown的."

"那 strawberry flavour 怎么解释?"
"........"

Merry Christmas & 23-26 Dec 05 (updated)

Had actually prepared the following before Xmas, but din have the chance to post it until now, so here's a belated Xmas greeting:

Here's wishing you a:

As I had promised, here are the pics of the gifts which i received from colleagues and pics taken at Muchuan XMas Countdown dinner.

Will talk more abt them at another time. Rushing off to do some window shopping.

*********************

Updates posted on 27 Dec 05:

23 Dec 05

Received a big cow cushion from my partner. Oww, din expect her to give such big present. Then there is a Pooh toy (dressed in purple) and a pack of magnetic bookmarks from another colleague. She had purposely chosen the purple pooh for me.
Oh yeah, now my cubicle is even more purplish.

Also received a flower bookmark, a box of home-made short bread, a box of Ferrero Rocher, a Body Shop gift set from other colleagues. As for the teddy bear which was stuffed in Pooh’s basket (see pic), it was given by our company. Staff welfare presents huh…

Had a Christmas lunch in our office. Frankly speaking, it was quite boring. We just eat and talked among ourselves. No lelong, no auction, unlike my previous company. (hey Ah-Shui~s, did you all helped me to snatch some lelong lorbangs? keke)

Then later, when getting back to work, something happened. It left me in a state of surprise, shock, bewilderment (whatever u called it lah). Not to mentioned I was even more confused and puzzled after the conversation. It is really a case of “unexpected”. And somehow it never occurred in my mind that such thing could happen.

Anyway, let’s proceed to 24 Dec 2005.

After settling some stuff and kopi talk with my friend, I rushed down to Muchuan for the Xmas countdown. It was held at Lev 2, where the restaurant used to be. While we were havig dinner, we were watching their movie screening (Love Actually).

Despite the mistake the waiter made (we actually ordered 3 sets of Fish and a set of Ham but the waiter wrote it as 3 sets of Ham & a set of Fish), the dinner turned out to be quite tasty. Though I had watched Love Actually earlier this yr (ya , DVD) , I can’t help being touched by some scenes. Haha, Flutterby and XM were drooling over that shuai shuai Karl, especially at that scene. *ahem*

Theme for tat nite was Pyjamas Nite. But no one seems to be following the dress code except for the performers and the 4-5 guests at a table. Can see the performers (3 from Mon-sters, 4 from Tue’s 党+ 亮文) were putting quite an amount of effort to 搞气氛,but compared to the last New Year party I been too, the guests weren’t that high. Most of them were rather reserved. A bit paiseh when only Flutterby and me were shouting :“Encore, encore”.

To those friends who support the Monsters, let me tell you what 破天荒things that Ximei & Jianhua did. Ximei wore a feather boa and started off another segment with “今天不回家”。 哈哈!she really 豁出去! And Jianhua also wore a feather boa, and was “搔首弄姿~ing” as he sang 卡门。 Ahem, but it was very weird lah, especially at the verse “男人不过是一只小小的东西,有什么了不起.”

I guess I have to say that I was rather lucky, or shall I say “blessed”. A total of 3 hampers were given out that nite, and just before they gave out the last hamper to me , I was telling to Flutterby:” So far our table hasn’t won anything hor” (but then, there were abt 100 guests that nite). Then at the next moment Jiehao was hinting that he knew the winner and the winner often came to support the other dang (which means Monsters lah). Flutterby suspected I had won but I dun wanna put too much hopes yet. So turned out that it was me who won the last food hamper. There was a bit of confusion on who should give out the prize to me. Cos initially, jiehao suggested Jianhua, but he was stuck with his guitar, so they suggested Ximei. Just when I was waiting for Ximei to come forward, Jianhua somehow managed to get out of the stage and present the hamper to me. Scary, man. Not that he was scary. Just that I am afraid that I might get stabbed, shot or glared by those female fans of his. Hahaha. Well, seems like his female fans are not only getting larger in number, they are getting bolder too. Hahaha. Hmm, refer to the 26 Dec events below.

Anyway, the whole event end ard 1.30am and we went to have steamboat at Beach Road. Eat till 5+am . So I actually spent my Xmas eating, then sleeping.

25 Dec 05

Had a slight change of plans in my agenda in the afternoon. But nonetheless I still meet up with some TXYs for the dinner appt. Big Cow, FL, Fannie and Jeremy and I had our dinner at pizza hut. (gal, where’s the pics???) . Big Cow had just came back from his exchange trip and FL was spotted with a new hairdo. Curls, how I wish my hair is long enuff to perm them into locks.

I din ate much that evening, perhaps was still feeling full from the steamboat. Oh, shall I add that Big Cow is so “meticulously auntie”. He even thought of preparing plastic bags ( u know those clear plastic bags for putting fruits, fish and other groceries) for us to spilt the almond cookies among ourselves. He also gave us a lipstick pouch each and they come with this Incredible Mirror (as exclaimed by Fannie) which make yr face appears smaller. I was scolded for being “chor-lor” cos I caused the mirror to crack when I fastened the pouch. *pai seh*
Anyway, after dinner, I left them as I dun wish to be super lighbulb, Haha.

26 Dec 2005
Met up with Flutterby in town the afternoon, but in get to do much Xmas shopping as the mood was already dampen by the crowd. In the end, we just bought a big corruggated board and headed to Chinatown to prepare for Project Ximei's Birthday Surprise.

So we ate at MacDonalds, at the same time, pasted a touched up pic of Takeshi Kaneshiro holding a birthday greeting for ximei on to the board. Even added

To 金城太:
祝你们幸福!!!!

From:李太与五太

I guess ppl are us tot we are nuts. hahaha.

But in the end, teher were changes to our plans. We are unable to act accord to our plan of sneaking out and placing the board the other side of the glass panel as the venue of their performance was shifted to Lev 2.

Full house that day, and guess many were admirers/ fans of Jianhua and Ah Du. The female fans were rather direct. Dedicating songs to 黑马王子. Then there was another group whom Sips and i suspected that those weird messages that they wrote (such as: "给我的红颜知己", "我原做你的隐形人" ) on their slips were for JH.

Then came this mysterious person dedicating Takeshi's 标准情人. Actually it was a cue for the others to held up the "takeshi board" and brought out the cake to Ximei. This Mrs Takeshi also recieved a cushion with a pic of her "husband" printed on it. Wonder how ML feel when she had to print that cushion.

bday gal was bery sporting,-- going off stage and dance to the tune of Kan Wo 72 bian, i tried taking video but my digicam din capture the lighting well. Owwww

有时候, 还是不要知道那么多东西比较好....
可是,又不是我故意想知道的....
到底这些事是注定的,
还是是因为未卜先知后所引发的"self fulfilling prophecy"

16 -23 dec 05

Ok, here is a "fast forward" summary of my recent happenings.

16 Dec 05 --> rebonded my hair! Spent almost 4 hrs @ the hair salon, and that's the time I spent with two people attending to my hair at the same time. Keke rather satisfied with the results. Left the salon with silky, shiny but smelly (from the chemicals used) hair. --> Watched Chicken Little with Flutterby & XM . I like Fish out of Water more than CL --> Supper (or was it dinner) @ Suki Sushi --> Did some Xmas shopping --> la kopi @ coffee club express. --> saw a fight broke out between 2 groups of teenagers. --> 3 police patrols came but then the groups had escaped. --> left for home at 4am!!!!

17 Dec 05 --> ahh I forgot what I did that day. Only remembered I went out to PS to get my craft supplies. Yeah, I finally purchased an eyelet setter. Looking forward to use it. 1

8 Dec 05 --> KTV with HF , LY, KL in the afternoon. It's is HF's bday, but she is unable to attend TT's wedding together with us in the evening as her wedding is scheduled in Mar next year. A case of "撞喜". TT 's wedding is rather a grand affair, hosting ard 60 tables! To us, that's a lot. she really slimmed down a lot, almost a dress size smaller when she was taking her wedding pics . Brief description of the wedding dinner @ Safra Mt Faber: a Traditional Chinese & Christian wedding dinner. She wore a total of 4 gowns that nite. A dark pruple one when she was receiving the guest, then a traditonal Chinese robe , her white gown, then a red evening gown. Instead of the usual March-in, she sat it a "converted 花轿"(there are wheels beneath), being "carried" (push or pull actually) by 4 brothers, and the groom came to 迎娶新娘 when the carriage stopped in front of the stage. Then it was followed by a long but professionnally done video, hymns, toasts, hymn. It was quite rushed in the end, with the waitresses all clearing the food after seeing everyone had taken a bite. We were amazed by photo grapher's speed of phototaking . Wonder how the photos turn out.
19 Dec 05: I took leave to play Santa Claus.Meet up with ex colleagues --> give them presents --> receive presents and other freebies too ---> tong bang Dr Lowem's cab ride to Heeren--> Raffles place ---> secret mission --> Muchuan Received more gifts at Muchuan. The "yi ge yue lai yi ci" duo also came to Muchuan and had prepared unique presents for the Monsters. Can really feel the joy of giving in the air. Would classify the ambience that nite as perfect if that thick skinned group din go up to sing again. Oh we are soooo soo bad. We all choose to leave the place when they went up to sing. Understand that the Monsters had to entertain their requests, but we as audience have the freedom to move around. hahahaha. Anyway, here are some of the gifts I had received. I missed the "childhood chocolates"!! The hp pouch and notebook are "so my style".

22 Dec 05

Was talking to my friend/neighbour , Mr K ( i want to call him King Kong, but afraid that he is reading my blog now and will kill me for that. hahaha. not that he is as big as King Kong, but his name sounds like KingKong. Oops digress too much liao) on msn and to my surprise, he took a pic of the Xmas card I had given him and use it as his MSN pic.

" U help me to advertise huh" I asked. He was the one who brought up the suggestion of me selling my Xmas card online, but I had figured out that it won't work out as the operating costs are high. I would have to sell the cards at a min rate of $3 each in order to cover the material costs . With an abundant supply of cheaper, mass-produced cards available in the market, who would want to buy my handmade cards. Hahahaha.

Anyway I had "print screen" part of our conversation and you can see me going kee-siao, lelonging my card at $3.

23 Dec 05

Received more presents from colleagues. That includes a purple beaded scrunchie (awww, I can't tie my hair now), flower magnet, Body shop gift set and big plushie. Aiyah but I too lazy to take pics of them now....

Thursday, December 22, 2005

Wanted to post something today before I post abt my past week's activities. Yes it has to be posted today. I was wondering how I shall titled this post, but decide to leave it blank in the end. Simply becos the two things I am gonna talk abt are rather contradicting ( as in the mood).

  1. 祝大家冬至快乐!
    好好享受你们的汤圆吧!

But I got a question: What is 冬至 in English?

Stumped for a moment? Yeah, Iwas stumped by that question when my mum asked me yesterday. I know "汤圆" is translated as "Glutinous Rice Ball".
Just asked my senior, and she was stumped too, but she came back with an answer half an hour later. And the answer is:

    Winter Solstice

    Cheem.................

Christmas Period.

Recent Happenings & Himalayan Tea Frappe

Had been very busy recently, had not gone home for dinner for the past week as I had to run errands or have some events to attend . Haha.

Had spent almost $500 on making new glasses ( my glasses broke) and a contact lens for left eye. *sim tia*. There goes my bonus! I had spent more than 3 hrs searching for my contact when I was blown away by the fan, but to no avail. Was bumping into people, pillars, poles, on Thurs morning when I tried to wear my remaining contact one eye on my way to walk. So grab an eye patch and surgical tape to tape my "almost blind" left eye ( with degree of 1100 for short-sightedness & 300 degree astig), so that I can focus with my "working right eye" and continue with my daily work before I rushed down to the optician. Anyway I was given a temp contact lens while waiting for my contact lens and glasses to be ready in 2 weeks time. Yeah! I wouldn't wanna wear an eye patch for 2 weeks.

Seems like I will have to eat grass in Jan and Feb so that I will have $ to spend on my overseas trip.

Anyway, I had been doing some Xmas shopping for the past few days, And I bought something for myself on Wed. Shhhhhhh. Only flutterby knew what i had bought, cos she was there with me and she din stop me from doing such ridiculous thing. hahahaha.

Had been "la kopi", or rather "la latte" for my case, for the past few days, and on Wed nite, Flutterby and I had a quick drink at McCafe before we went home. This time round, I din go for coffee, simpky becouse there is a drink which I love from McCafe. And it is:

Himalayan Tea Frappe.

The tea is so rich, better than those tea made from the tea leaves from Cameron Highlands. That Himalayan Tea Frappe, and Himalayan Tea (hot version) has been around sin early last year ( might be even earlier), so I dun understand why their management label them as "NEW!".

Anyway, I practised my photography skills while Flutterby was getting her drink.

See the signboard showing the Himalayan Tea in the background too? This was actually the third pic( or angle) I took. Initially, I just focused on the boring cop of frappe, then I realised that there are different pics of their tea & coffee in the background. Kekeke, Flutterby said I had improved in capturing pics from better angles liao. Yah, I know I still have a long way to go.

And one last thing I wanna broadcast here.Li Sheng Jie has a new song! Or rather it is a duet featuring 李圣杰& 林隆璇.

歌名就是:妳那么爱他

From what I had known, this is theme song for a Korean TV Serial showing on one of the Taiwan TV Channels. So I dun think the Chinese pop radio stations in Singapore will be playing it yet, until it is recorded on one of the singers' album.
The Taiwan Fans are super efficient. They had captured the song form the TV, make out the lyrics . And here's the lyrics (not the full version though):

* as per the "KTV rules", those words in green simply mean that they are being sung by both singers. hahaha

Chao Kengs....

Yes, I changed my msn personal messages to "to the damn hell with Chao Kengs". Dunno what the heck I was writting, i was so pisssed off by that chao-keng Auntie @ workplace.

She should have gotten an award for "best Actress" ( my colleagues said that too), too bad her face cannot-make it lah.

1) She show her angelic side to the top management staff but only show her devious side to us.

2) Recently, there was a day where we were supposed to post tender. She was the one who eager volunbteered to key in that and I was supposed to watch her doing that, ensuring she did not make nay mistakes. Yet just after she found out we are going to do that in the afternoon (which will drag on to evening) she immediately tell boss that she need to visit her sick father . However I had heard her happily talking to her son on the phones mins ago. And how coincidence it is b4 the boss came over, she asked me something regarding teh sytem & was pointed at her screen and minutes later when the boss came over, she claimed taht she has been locked out and have problems accessing it. Then off she letft at 6pm, while I stayed until 8pm .

I was pissed at that time, din expect she will come up with such as scheme of purposely type in wrong password to get locked out of the system. If she wanna go home at 6pm to cook dinner, why dun she honest say so. I din tell the boss ( should be direct supervisor lah) then, cos I dun wanna make it seems like I am complaining. Beside our boss has only been here for a few months, and didnlt know what games she had played in the past with our previous bosses.

3) Ultimate case happened today. After lunch, i found that she has not delivered a doc which I passed to her when she had told boss that she will deliver after lunch. Then when I told her that other colleague had instructed to have it delivered to the receipient by end of the day. She simply said she want to delivered it in the evening when she passed by the building...

A few minutes later, she have the energy to throw an envelope at me (what the heck! ).
yet minutes after that, she claimed that she is sick and had called our boss and boss ask me to deliver the package instead! She could even make the 'Burp burp" sound and claimed that she wanna vomit.

Not that we are unsympathetic. My partners and I had seen her " pattern" quite a few times. How do u expect me to believe it as minutes ago she have the energy to throw things at me, let mins later, she claim she is sick. I dun mind delivering the package if she told me she is sick when I found out she had not sent it, but NOT after all these "letter throwing" and " I will deliver on the way home" incidents.

Pissed off with my boss who give her the benefit of the doubt, saying that he got eyes and can see. Yah yah, he can see she was speaking in a weak voice, but he dunno that when he walk away, she happily took out her biscuits and eat them. If he was sharp enough, he could see that her face was not pale. U can fake a weak voice, u can fake nauseas, but you can't fake having yr skin turning pale.

My partners faces also turn black, cos they knew that he was being unfair. Previously , under our 1st boss, it was stated that the Auntie was to delivered the stuff. Yet she always create trouble for us , feigning sick. When our current boss came, he said that to be fair, we all rotate the work. but why it it always that when it is her turn, she claims that she was feeling unwell.

What a case of 恶人先告状! She knew that we will tell our superior that the file cannot reach the receipient by end of the day when he came back, so she quickly call our boss and claimed that she is sick !

Chao Keng jiu si chao keng, knew how to act sweet, act sick, and "pattern so many".

I may whine to my friends but I am not the type who will complain to boss abt what she had done. Yet she is making things dificult. She better not force me to reveal to boss what she had done! But perhaps, it may be too late...

***********
Went to Muchuan yesterday. And reached there late! Had a busy "half-day" at office. Then rushed off to do some Xmas shopping after work.

Received such a sweet package from Esther (pink table , hahha i know many "Esther~s"). Nice muffins and cookies.

Because I din manage to hear Li Sheng Jie's song at work , I can't bear to hear some screeching chicken with thick skin ( ~oh i am sooo bad) singing 痴心绝对 at Muchuan. Cos I dun wanna to be reminded of the horrendous voice the next time I hear Li Sheng Jie's songs. That thought of it really brought me goose pimples. Without thinking, I blurted out a " I can't accept" and scurried away.

我就是这样啦。I 'd rather be discourteous than having to sit there and pretend to enjoy it.

************************************

Seems like there is an epidemic of "overdosage" around the Tai-Tais.

First, Li Tai Tai got it.
Then , Wu Tai Tai got it.
Then, there came a Jin Chen Tai.
And now, Wong Tai Tai seems to be displaying the symptoms.

Now this is my theory (got copyrights hor):

Overdose and Withdrawal Syndrome are interlinked. Soon after u have an Overdose of "him", u will start to suffer from Withdrawal Syndrome, then you will try to get more dosage of him and then you suffers from Overdose again. Hence the cycle repeats.

Haha, guess only the Chibaboms will know what I mean. :P

Different Types of Coffee & Digital Scrapbooking

One of the causes which contributes to my "panda eyes" was staying up late to try my hands on Digital Scrapbooking.

I was so excited when I found resources for digital scrapbooking, it simply means I can save $ on doing scrapbook pages. However I do face a lot of limitations, one being I dun have access to Photoshop (or other photo editing softwares)software , and I dun have design background.
Still, I am such a determined (or stubborn) person. Hence I had manage to create the following pages which Image Composer software (it is an outdated software that runs on my home PC's Win 95 operating sytem). With its limited functions, I am contented with the following pages which I managed to create.
To my "professional designer friends" like Ah Shui~s and Flutterby , qing3 duo1 duo1 zhi3 jiao4. (dunno why the chinese software can't work now...).

Here are the two pages that provide the defination of Latte and ICE Coffee:

Haha, now u know where I got my source of inspiration from.
And I had broke my record by drinking 4 cans of Nescafe Latte during the past 6 days. That makes me came up with this page:

Even though it had a brown colour scheme, it is still very "my style" right? =P

On a serious note, below are the full definations of Latte, Ice Coffee & Cappuccino which I had extracted from Wikipedia:

Latte

Latte is Italian for milk. In English-speaking countries it usually refers to one of several types of coffee beverages made with hot milk. In Italian these are known as "caffè e latte" (commonly "caffelatte"), literally "coffee and milk", analogous to (but not the same as!) the French "café au lait", and latte macchiato which is very similar.

As the term has come to be used in the United States since approximately 1985, a latte is prepared to the proportions of one third espresso and two-thirds steamed milk. Thus it has more milk than a cappuccino, and has a milder, milkier taste. Lattes should be prepared by pouring milk and coffee simultaneously, from either side of the drinking vessel.

The evolution of this term (and this particular form of the beverage) is relatively recent and probably dates from the spread of the 1980s Seattle coffee craze to the rest of the United States (and beyond) via the growth of Seattle-based Starbucks. Some cafes create designs in the frothed milk.

As recently as 1980, if you ordered a "latte" in an Italian coffeehouse in San Francisco, you would expect to get a glass of milk. If you ordered a "caffè latte," you would get a beverage with far less milk in it than what has now come to be called a "latte." Keep in mind, ordering a "latte" in a café in Italy will result in the barista serving you a plain glass of milk.
In other parts of the world (for example, Australia) lattes are commonly served in a glass (served on a saucer with a napkin which can be used to hold the (sometimes hot) glass). Some baristas will heat the milk to only 65-70C, above which temperature the milk changes in flavour. These beverages are typically made using a 30ml shot of espresso coffee and topped up with frothed or textured milk.

Milk in a latte is often served "frothed", sometimes decoratively

Cappuccino
(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Cappuccino is an Italian beverage, prepared with espresso and milk. A cappuccino is generally defined as 1/3 espresso, 1/3 steamed milk and 1/3 frothed milk. Another definition would call for 1/3 espresso and 2/3 microfoam. A cappuccino differs from a latte macchiato, which is mostly milk and little foam. (A "dry cappuccino" has less milk.)

In Italy it is consumed almost exclusively early in the day for breakfast; in some other countries it may be consumed throughout the day or after dinner.

Besides a quality shot of espresso, the most important element in preparing a cappuccino is the texture and temperature of the milk. When a well-trained barista steams the milk for a cappuccino, he or she should create "microfoam" by introducing very tiny bubbles of air into the milk. This gives the milk an extremely velvety texture and sweet taste.

A cappuccino is ideally prepared in a ceramic coffee cup, which has far better heat retention characteristics than glass or paper.
In some places, skilled baristas create latte art when pouring properly steamed milk into the espresso, making designs such as apples, hearts, leaves and rosettes.

Cappuccino was a taste largely confined to Europe and a few of the more cosmopolitan cities of North America until the mid-1990s when cappuccino was made much more widely available to North Americans, as part of the new upscale coffee bar chains with a consciously "European" air (notably Starbucks).

Iced coffee
(From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Iced coffee is a cold-brewed variant of the normally hot beverage, coffee.

Iced coffee usually refers to a specific process of brewing coffee, using cold water rather than hot. Iced coffee is synonymous with the term Toddy coffee, which is a brewing system that was developed and patented by Todd Simpson in 1964 as the first patented cold brewing system. The basic method of brewing cold coffee, whether by the actual Toddy system or a personalized setup involves nearly the same process. The process requires grinding coffee beans at a coarse setting and soaking those grounds in cold water for a prolonged period of time (usually 12 hours or more). The grounds must be filtered out of the cold water after they have been steeped for this period of time, therefore, the grounds can either be put in a bag like filter before steeping or, similar to the Toddy system, the mixture can be fed through a filter after soaking. The end result produces a concentrate that is often diluted with water (or milk in some beverages). Pouring hot coffee over ice often waters down the beverage, while pouring cold brew over ice does not. Toddy Products claims brewing coffee by their method reduces the acidity of the beverage.

This, however, is not the method with which most commercially sold iced coffee is made. Often, it is made by brewing hot coffee at double strength, then pouring over an equal amount of ice or cold water.

Sadly, most iced coffee that is for sale at chain cafes across america is day-old coffee that has sat in the fridge overnight.
Serving

Depending on the brewing method, iced coffee can be served alread chilled, or poured hot, double strength, over an equal amount of ice. Because sugar does not dissolve readily into cold liquids, it must be added either directly to the hot base, or to the finished product in the form of simple syrup, which can be made by mixing quantities of water and sugar, then simmering over low heat until the desired viscosity is attained. Instead of sugar, most synthetic substitutes such as aspartame (Equal, Nutrasweet) or sucralose (Splenda) will dissolve readily into cold coffee.

啊!!!救命啊!
I am looking like a Panda now.

Flutterby was saying I should go for facial for once, 去宠一宠自己。
Oh yeah?!! I will be getting my bonus soon hor.
Flutterby even recommended me to use SKII products, makes me wonder is she their part time promoter.
Hai, might as well as Santa to give me that. (I rather spend $ on craft materials)

Have lots of blog debts to clear, not for this blog but for other blogs.

And dunno why I had been "haunted" by the chorus (tune only) of this song for the past week (can't confirm who is the original singer though) :

我会用真心填满你的孤单

请不要再将伤痕挂在你脸上
明知爱情不一定能地久天长

换个空间别再拥抱孤单
别再为失去的昨天旁徨

请不要再将伤痕挂在你脸上
明知爱情不一定能如愿以偿

昨日缠绵瞬息间成变换
没有结果的爱情不必纠缠

为何不尝试来靠靠我肩膀
选择我的爱成为你温柔的护航

不管明天道路坎坷漫长
我会用真心填满你的孤单

Now I managed to find out the title and the lyrics, i am even more mesmerised by it, especially the sentence in bold.

Something made me thought of these related incidents/stories:

1) Ever seen this scene from movies where the female leading character fall in love with a nice guy, yet later meet another guy who seems to be better than her current bf, and 她感叹:“可惜我们相遇太晚。”

2)Not long after you receive yr salary, you went out shopping and bought a dress which you love it at the first sight. Yet , just 2 weeks later, you saw that the shop was have a storewide 50% discount, and the dress which you had bought was available too!
And you laments:“早知道当时不要买。”

So the theory of "early bird catches the worm" doesn't apply to everything. But do you blame people for making you "lose out" ( e.g.: you grumble why the salesgirl din reveal abt the sale) ?

You are the one who made the decision, you should take the full responsiblity.
I am not saying that we can only blame ourselves if we encounter such incidents.

If only we can be more easily contented and be satisfied with what we already have. If you are attached and have a nice (that word is too general) and understanding partner, you shouldn't be regretting abt being in a commitment when you got a know another person who seems to be a better match than yr partner. How would you be sure that you will be better off with the later?

As for the second example, would you be sure that you are still able to get that dress u like if you have waited? There is always a risk of losing something if we did not take any action. You are not the only person living in this world, there are other who have the same taste as you. Why not look from another angle and think abt how lucky you are to have own that dress and can wear it 2 weeks earlier than others.

*************************

Yes, I am pissed off by your attitude. I rather be straightforward and write in here rather than whine on my other private blog behind yr back.

I am pissed off because you dun seems to appreciate what I am doing. A "gift" is suppose to be something decided by the giver. If you dun like it , you could just threw it away.

If you had seen "B" before u had seen "A", would you still say you will prefer "A" if you had gotten "B"?
********************************************

I dun need praises or "thank you" messages, just as long as I know what I have done is being appreciated, I am contented with that.

Meet Snowdrift, one of my toy polar bears . Had given it a "The Dog" to hug. The golden-purple shimmery stuff is the Xmas decor I bought to decorate my cubicle.

Had a pleasant surprise when I was flipping through the latest issue of I-Weekly.
Very troublesome to scan, so I took a pic of it instead.
See:

The important part:

Out of so many artistes in Rocks Records, the editorial group chose to use Li Sheng Jie's pic.
Good choice!
hahaha.

Tell u hor, I heard Fm 93.3 playing his 手放开 just now!

Posting for 5 Dec 05

Just a quick post, not in the best of mood:

Had heard people mentioning abt how dogs and their owners have similar traits, but how would I have expected that I had similar "experience" with my i-dog S.J. .

Had brought S.J. (i-dog) to Muchuan in the evening for its dose of music.
After the 1st hrs of Monsters' performance, it started barking incessantly, and its lights were glowing from red to yellow. Can't even switch it off.

I was saying " S.J. 好像有问题了."

Then S.J. 'slipped into a coma' (no battery, hence stop operating).

Come to think of it, I wonder why the manufacturers programmed i-dogs to waste more power (lights blinking and barking) when the batteries are running low. They could simply set it to flash a few secs of red lights .

Then, I also had no clue what was happening to me too. Soon after, I felt very tired, even though I had just finished drinking Ice coffee ( yeah, 冷咖啡).
Had a very weird feeling , as if I could feel my "energy level" being drained away from my head.

I dun even have the energy to sit upright when Jianhua was singing Li Shengjie's 手放开。
Actually dedicated that for S.J., to train it to listen to Shengjie's song, but since it had KO, it doesn't mater anymore. Din have the energy to reply back when JH was saying something like 到现在还没唱到李圣杰的歌,李太太等了很久。” Hai.... as if it is a must that he has to sing Shengjie's song.

如果我那时“手放开”,我的头会“掉下来”, as I was using my hand to prop my head.

Swopped seats with SY so that I can rest at the arm chair, but was still experiencing the strange feeling. Can feel my hands turning cold, and the whole body becoming “软绵绵”。
Naughty BR even kajiao me by swiping my eyelashes when I was resting. (i know my eyelashes quite long lah. hahaha).

I dun even feel a thing when the gals claimed that my forehead was feverish. Seems like my body was divided into 3 parts: Head fervish, upper torso (hands) turning cold, lower torso (limbs) shaking.

Poor PS, think she kenna "pui" by me thrice when I burst out laughing when I was drinking 100 plus.

Perhaps it's a case of : Dog is sick, so am I.

Thanks to the gals (oh, and guys too) who helped out. and Thanks PS for yr Xmas card. You are the 1st to send me a Xmas card.

Yah, that's my 1st Xmas card received in 2005。 3D woh!

Ice Maiden strikes again! & Cute Card

"Activated" my “Ice maiden” mode twice on Sat. I know I got some attitude (some will say “attitude problem”). If I dun like a person, I will simply ignore you than putting on a fake smile & entertain you.

Anyway, the 1st Activation happened in the morning, when I was at the living room, reading newspapers. I was sitting with my side facing the door, while my mum was sitting on the main sofa, with her face directly facing the door.

Out of a sudden, a salesman appeared at the door, and I was engross with my reading that I din look up when he said “Hello hello”, as I presumed my mum was looking at him.

Then this rude man was asking my mum “U speak English ? Yr daughter dunno English huh?”.And that tigress, in order to escape listening to his sales talk, said that she dunno English and “She(referring to me) dun talk to strangers one”.

Damm it, how could she give such a reply without checking the facts. And I remain silent, seething in anger while that man said sarcastically: “So weird har. Got such weird people.”
Si uncle! Before u even start yr sales talk, u already insulted yr potential customers. Who wanna buy products from such rude salesperson!

So if he had expected he would capture my attention or trigger any response from me by doing that. He is wrong. 我就偏对他不理不睬,反正我也没有必要去听他的推销。既然它那么无礼,我也不需要“以礼相待”,就当他毫不存在。

And in the end, he walked away.
哈哈哈!

Left home in the evening to attend to something. Oh ya, the event on 7 Dec is postponed until further notice.

Shall talked abt what happen during the evening on my other blog.Anway, after a round of supper and “la latte” with P ( she drank hot coffee while I drank ice latte… yeah I am hooked on latte or u can associate it with 冷咖啡… hahaha , u know who I am thinking of right?) we went on our separate ways to catch our Niterider buses.

While waiting for my bus, saw a guy stood up from the seat (he was sitting with 2 other friends) and walked towards me.

Shall not elaborate in details what happened (perhaps will write abt it on my other blog).

But all I can say is: Count him suay that I had just drank latte and hence, my eyes were brightly opened. So I had given him a cold reply of “No” and my icy glare naturally when he asked 2 questions.

Actually, I was just feeling disgusted cos there were other strangers around us within It’s not that his questions insulted me (perhaps to some gals, they will feel that it’s a compliment), but to me, I dun like to entertain such approaches. Hence my sideward glance from looking out for my bus to looking at him and back to looking at the road turn out to be an icy glare ( half-diao, half glare lah). Basically, I won’t accept this type of “forced friendship”.

Some will know that I dun count “people that I know, but not of a personal level” as friends, let alone befriending someone I dunno on the same day we met.

这或许就是我“冷漠”的一面。

Now, let’s progress to something more heartwarming … (gosh I wonder if I am ever considered as having“双重性格”?).

My latest creations (Xmas card) are moving towards the “cute cute style”. The previous batch of Xmas cards was more classic-looking. =P

Here’s one of the cute Xmas card:

Any takers before I decide to give it away?Hahahha

Aeon Flux

Was at the preview screening of Aeon Flux at GV Marina yesterday, thanks to Dr Lowem who reserved a place for me.
Actually I was rather blur last week. When "Dr" told me abt the surprise, I was so happy that I had forgotten another friend of mine is performing on the same day (had mentioned that I'll be going to watch her performance). Hai.. guess I will have to support her on her next performance instead.
I had wanted to watch Aeonflux when I caught it's trailer abt 2 months ago. Cos Aeon (Charlize Theron) seems cool. Especially this scene:

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Pic from up4u.net
Cool hor. Firing at her enemics using 2 guns at the same time.

Not going to review the movie as it's not my forte

Here's the lot summary from
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0402022/plotsummary

"The sci-fi actioner is set 400 years in the future, when disease has wiped out the majority of the earth's population except for one walled, protected city-state, Bregna, ruled by a congress of scientists. The story centers on Aeon Flux(Theron), the top operative in the underground 'Monican' rebellion, led by The Handler(Frances McDormand). When Aeon is sent on a mission to kill a government leader, she uncovers a world of secrets..."

I do find the movie visually stimulating ( watching Charlize Theron doing a series of flips and jumps lah) and intellectually stimulating (figuring who are the good & bad guys; the secrets that lie beneath, cloning....).
But....
It's disappointing that the theatre's sound system went haywire in the midst of the show. Ended up the sounds from the guns seems like sounds from toys guns --- no impact!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Yeah that glare.............(Pic from up4u.net )
Perhaps I should start mastering how to give that glare. hahaha..
(and u know what. I am not listening to Li Sheng Jie's songs on Media Player. Yet radio is now playing his 手放开。注定是要我听他的歌的!)
