the day of Ban Jiang

Posting for 28 Aug 2004 Sat
(yah, I know I'm late)
Attended the BanJiang DianLi. Sometimes, really feel out of place. Luckily i know some of my new group members well, if not, really difficult to mingle with them.
hmm, what i did that day,
1) Present award to 校园报道奖 winners ( as i won the same prize in previous years)
2) Perform the "super lame" dance performance (which we did at the June malaysian camp). Got encore somemore, so performed twice. ( double lame :P) Actually, think the audience just like the "little umbrella dance".
3) Collect my pyramid shaped Service Award trophy. it's a blue base this year, ame as the one i receive in 1999. Gosh it's been 5 years.
hmm quite coincidence har, my 1st and last trophy all blue.

The event ended after 10pm. we went to check out Glutton Square. Actually, the food there is not that great and the pricing are rather expensive. the $6 fried noodles and oyster omelette is like the same amount you can get for $3 elsewhere. No choice, that's the only place u can eat in town.

Haha, took the 1st Nightrider ride of my life that midnite . If not for DaNiu's bus guide, I really can't recall which bus will take me beack home. Yah, have been too reliant on other people sending me home whenever it's late.
****************************

Remember I mentioned abt the two new Oscar fish . They are big bullys. the two tigerbarks fishes which we had been rearing for months had died due to lack of food (the oscars will bite them if they try to eat any flakes) and perhaps the biting from the oscars.

So sad....
Even fishes can be big bullys too.

earings, pouches & fishes

haha today felt like it's my birthday again as coincidentally, I received belated presents.
Morning, D passed me a pair of pink earings, saying when she saw them, thought that it's so my style.

then after lunch, "Har-Gao" passed me 2 presents-- one from her and another from "Lian Yong Bao". They two are such good friends, they even think alike. Both of them gave me two pouches each, & they never discussed with each other before. From "Har-gao" are 2 pink pouches, and from "Lian yong bao" are two light purple (my fav colour, the exact shade I like!) pouches and a purple rubber band for tying up hair. kekeke.

****************
reached home, before rush out to teach tuition, bro asked me to take a look at the enw additionto our aquarium,2 oscar fishes. No time to ask him who bought them.

Just now, while I was typing this, one of the tigerbark fish is dying , and the oscars were biting it. So poor thing. Had punished the oscars, but afraid, later when i go to sleep, they might bully it again.....

Sat & Sun

Had not been blogging for days cos saya sick on Thur. Throat inflammation and body ache. Hai.... But on weekends, I heck-care abt the throat and eat fried stuff. haha

Sat 21 Aug 2004
after the rehearsals, went for KTV session. Also an early celebration for Sips' birthday. Asked her what she wants, so that i won't give her some useless present next week, but hor, the thing ( or person) she want, I can't unable to help her fulfil.

Just like mine........

Anyway, KTV session was fun. "C" was so high that she stood on the seat, causing the waiter passing by to raise his brows. Also, Four of us were like "piah" at some songs, see which group sang the loudest. (Visualise us singing "我 ~不~要........." during Sun Yanzi's "风筝")

Sun 22 Aug 2004

Fury......
Really can't stand it this morning when she return home, and start scolding all of us for no apparent reason. the more we ignored her, the more she scolded, and started saying we are all "mentally unsound". imagine these type of words coming from a mother's mouth.
then she found out that my bro had not was his t-shirt. Just one piece of clothing, she suddenly flared up and hit him hard on the back, Not once but lots of times. When he cried in pain, she"exploded" and then went to find a metal hanger and caned him with that. I can't stand it longer, shouted at her : "Enough!"

Think she was shocked at first. but then she kept on scolding. I mumbled: "you are teh crazy one".

She must have heard it, for then she told father and other relatives (during the afterboon , when we went to grandma house's) a twisted verison. She said that i scolded her crazy.

Please lah, if you did nothing wrong, I dare to call u that meh. I could have ask brother to remove his shirt to show them the damage you had done.......

**************************
Haia bit sad when reached home to find that Li Jiawei had lost the match. There go Singapore's last hope to win a medal for this Olympics.
No luck for Singapore.....

my brain usage profile

http://www.mindmedia.com/brainworks/profiler

took this test from the above link and below are my results:

Your Brain Usage Profile:

Auditory : 60%
Visual : 40%
Left : 61%
Right : 38%

Youare mildly left-hemisphere dominant while showing a slight preference for auditory processing. This overall combination seems to indicate a well-working blend of logic and judgment and organization, with sufficient intuition, perception and creativity to balance that dominance.

You will at times experience conflict between how you feel and what you think which will generally be resolved in favor of what you think. You will find yourself interested in the practical applications of whatever material you have learned or whatever situation you face and will retain the ability to refine whatever knowledge you possess or aspects of whatever position you are in.

By and large, you will orient yourself toward intellectual activities and structure. Though not rigid, you will schedule yourself, plan, and focus on routine and continuity of operations, rather than on changes and disruptions

When changes or disruptions occur, you are likely to consider first how to ensure that such disruptions do The same balance is reflected in your sensory preference. You will tend to be reflective and measured in your interaction style. For the most part, you will be considered objective without being cold and goal-oriented while retaining the capacity to listen to others.

Preferentially you learn by listening and maintaining significant internal dialogues with yourself. Nevertheless, you have sufficient visualization capabilities to benefit from using graphs, charts, doodles, or even body movement to enhance your comprehension and memory.

To the extent that you are even implicitly aware of your hemispheric dominance and sensory style, you will feel most comfortable in those arenas which emphasize verbal skills and logic. Teaching, law, and science are those that stand out among the professions, along with technical sales and management.

Officially turned23 today.
Not a smooth day. But there were pleasant surprises as well. Sips send the sms early at 12.05am, hoping to be the 1st person to wish me Happy Birthday. Yah, & she is.
Then also receive an sms greeting from ex-colleague. left the company for 2 years liao, yet they can still remember.

Things started to turn bad after the lunch treat from Reb & Nana. I check my email, and was utterly displeased (to put it in a mild way), that someone, without asking me, went to confirm that i am to do some duties which was out of my jobscope, when my supervisor's reply earlier in the morning to him was that i will be obliged to help if I can, but i can only do one as I had other things to do. But he even cc the email to the GM, wanting to make it in black & well.
if he need my help, he should had ask me whether if i can do it, not to ask my supervisor. And my supervisor only mentioned i will be obliged to help if I can, yet he sorta use it to "force' me to do the work.
Damn him and curse him to hell. I am a human being, not some slave belong to my supervisor, where u ask her for permission to "use" me.

returne home, it was like an "ice palace"... "so cold"

so tired... think I am falling sick......

* i wish my wishes wil come true......*

14 and 15 Aug

14 Aug Sat

Held 2 birthday gatherings today. Things did not go smoothly as i planned. Lots of 'cock-ups'. First I left home, forgeting to bring the update map of the KTV place (I am not even sure of the location myself).

Then, when i went to do up my hair in this shop that sell hairclips, the salesperson was going to put up my long crystal decoration clip across my "heart-shape bun (of hair)", the clip broke and had to be sent for repair.

Then went to collect my customise all blue cake. Yet found out that the baker did not change the sides to blue colour and was white instead. The nice "Auntie" asked me if I want to reject the cake. But i still need a cake right. No point rejecting, and fortunately, the top trimming was changed to blue. Auntie was telling she will waive the $3 extra changes and scold the ppl from the main branch for not following her instructions. In addition, she gave me this set of candles that spelt out in "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" free of charge. Me so paiseh, cos that candles worth $5 leh.

Anyway, friends were like laughing at the "Underwater World" them cake, there're even sharks printed there. Some were amazed to see the special set of candles. Was teasing them that they're "suah-koo". One disadvantage blowing the candles, I had to blow out 13 of the alphabets instead of 2 big and 2 small ones. i dunno abt how others feel, but i think the blackforest filling was delicious.

Back to the point. from 2.15pm ( that's where I schedule them to meet), my phone was keep ringing & buzzing with sms telling me that they will be late. My replies initially were the same, i had added 20 minutes of allowance time cos i expected that there will a few be late, so no worries. But then when i arrived the MRT and wait until 2.30pm, no one was there. Lots of call keep coming in, saying they will be late, and they will be going to the building by themselves, yet they dunno how to go. Problem is, I dunno how to go too, how can i give them directions? And i dun wish to see my friends go missing. The map shown at the MRT station is not updated and all of them had not refer to the map I sent them. Time was running fast, and I lost my cool. While i am making calls, there were second lines coming in. I wanted to reach there on time, quickly settle down and cut cake cos there are some who had to leave early, but despite arrangements being made for late-coming, i was unprepared for the situations.

Then came the major cock-up.
Upon reaching there, the counter staff told me that no reservations for the KTV hall had been made despite my colleague confirmed the booking weeks ago and me calling up 2 days ago to confirm the booking. The counter staff said that they need to talk to the GM, who will then check with their boss. I was utterly pissed off to hear that. I myself, for fear that this type of thing would happen, had called up on thursday, and someone told me "Yah, the hall is confirm", yet this type of thing can happen. I made a mistake of not taking down the name of the person who answered my call.

Wasted half an hour for them to check. I was so tensed that I looked like i am abt to bite.

In the end, they had no choice but to give us (a group of 20 ppl), a big room but charge us the hall rates. But that defeat the purpose rite? If I want a room, i could have easily booked one by myself elsewhere, at a place where my friends and I are familiar with. It is because I am inviting different groups of friends and it would be better for them to sit at separate tables in the hall, and easier for them to take turns to sing that i asked my colleague for help to book a hall. Damm pissed off. And I think if not for the two guys ( most prob gays) that are in the hall, we could have the usage of the hall. Somemore, no one else using the hall that afternoon, and they paid the hall rates and sang hours by themselves. Humphhhhhhh!

Hey friends, sorry for being in such a foul mood that day, cos I was totally unprepared by the turnout of events. Being a perfectionalist and organization-freak at times, I want the party I organised to be as perfect as possible. Since I told you all I am booking the hall, I do expect I got a hall (cos I know singing at a hall all by ourselves if a difference experience than singing in a room).

Well, had to admit that I "赚到" in the end, as the tibits and fruits are on the house ( probably their way to compensate), but still that cannot 弥补 my 遗憾 of not giving you all what i had promised.

Anyway, thanks for coming , and thanks for your presents (perfume, bracelets, necklaces.... i like them all).

To the gals who make the effort of wrapping the flowers secretly in the toilet: Actually even if U gave them plainly, I'll still be glad to receive them. You know, this is the first time that i brought flowers home. When my ex gave me flowers year ago, i asked him to bring back home himself. Upon reaching home, i even put all the flowers (10 roses and 1 tulips) into a water bottle (see, i so pathetic, no proper vase) and took a pic of them.

Thanks for buying the "so my style" dress, earing, and cardigan. think u can only see me wearing it some day after the BanJiang

To my dear bro: haha , yr songs really fascinated my colleagues. they were sooooo impressed by yr so 'Jeff Chang' voice. And it's really surprise to receive a purple shawl from u. I couldn't recall that i did tell u abt my favourite colour these recent years, so how did u know?

To YR: How are you feeling now. I just read your blog, Sorry , didn't know u vomitted that day, i tot you had a headache. Next time, just tell me ok. I don't bark at sick ppl one. hahaha... Your tulip still blooming.

Really can't wait to see the photos taken.

Oh, after the KTV, I meet up with the other group at Lavender mrt before we proceed to Cosy Bay for dinner. Me, supposed to be giving them directions to take bus, forgot which bus stop to go to instead, caused them to miss 2 buses.

having dinner at the top deck was fun, I missed that experience.....

After dinner, as we walked back to Kallang MRT, they make quite a few "political jokes". haha, who says the younger generation dun care abt politics. here, we have ppl having plans to become ministers, first ladies. Even i was being "persuaded" to aim for being the secretary in the Prime Minister's office. Not to mention that there are comments abt the good-looking President scholar from Hua-Zhong. hahaha

15 Aug 2004

Morning, read in news that Centro was closed yesterday. Yet there is no clear mentions of the Embargo restaurant that my friend and i are supposed to go this evening was closed too.(we want to see fireworks) He had made reservation on Friday , anf his reply to my doubts was " Relax, if they had accept reservations, it means they are still in operation."

Quite dissapointed to read that Cento closed its door so abruptly, as i did have plans to go there once i had gotten my contact lens. Well, i am not fated to go lor.

anyway, took the risk, to go there ard 7=pm., anf found taht EMBARGO was closed. Duh! Need a proper place for dinner, and i recalled my sis telling me that she can see fireworks from Cosy Bay, so i suggest going to that place.

A bit disappointing though. Turned out we only managed to see 25% of the fireworks, for the tall condos at the riverside blocked our view.

A lesson learnt indeed!

Special note

Had converted the two pairs of earings ( pruple, and the pink & white) i received yesterday to clips-ons. Can't wait to wear them.

Had used the Gucci Eau de Parfum II (The gift from HF, LY, W, TT, KL) today. Really grow to like the smell. Applied it at 5pm, yet now at 2am, it still lingers. Though the scent is light, it's really very "Gucci -scented".

Had spent the Seiyu voucher i received in this evening. Bought a bag, 4 scruchies an an eye shadow. Very practical gift indeed. Thanks very much to the "givers". :)

just a note

just to add a note here. Tomorrow gonna be a busy day. Preparing and going to my bday gathering (3 days in advance).
After a few hiccups. just hope 2moro will be smooth......

i think I am rather inflexible. I like to plan things early so that things go on smoothly. Any "emergencies", i will be "gan-cheong".

Perhaps this is my personality. An older colleague onced asked me if i prefer plain milk chocolate or chocolate with nuts.

My answer :" Plain chocolate".

Her reason: " Then u are the type who like things to be smooth. those who like chocolate with nuts are those that like challenges."

hmm so the "nuts" refers to the "challenges" blended into our life huh?

Quite accurate hor?

posting for Monday

I have been slacking during the long weekend break. Sun, stayed at home, supposed to make a b-day card but not in the mood to do it. read a novel which i had borrowed from the library instead. Supposed to iron my clothes but seeing that next day is a public holiday, hence i procrastinate.

Monday, dun feel like going out after friend had cancelled her appointment with me. So continue slacking at home. Paint fingernails, read the 2nd novel borrowed from library, then in the evening, rushed with the ironing while catching the National Day Parade on TV.

Sigh.. too bad can't catch it live at the stadium..... a few friends managed to get tickets.
Somehow felt that the performance segment are 大同小异. No much difference from the previous years. The only thing special and & touching was the tribute to to PM Goh.

Catch the Singapore Idol after that. Haha that some contestants seems to
think that to be famous, they have to be like William hung-- take the clue from the one who peformed the Lemon tree dance.
Then there was this infamous stripper, Steven Lim, who seems desperate for attention. A few weeks ago, Friends had forwarded me a link of his webpage, where he self-proclaimed that he is the most handsome guy in Singapore, and selling his photos. (quote my friend's comments : "can i puke?"). Sometimes, I think media have a part to play in making the losers famous (or Infamous) . Take the example of William Hung, if no newspapers gives any
coverage of him, will he be able to perform, make movie and cut albums??

Updates on today, Wed, 11 Aug:

Just watched Singapore Idol.
this episode not that funny leh...
Banana Man is just... (well, how do i put it) a bait to lure the viewers.

Waiting to see next week's episode though. See who's the one who made Dick lee said Just get out of here.

(I wonder are all these staged purposely?)

Lots of things

Ok, really got lots of things to say. Especially after talking to ppl regarding some matters.

Went to BaoGuan this afternoon. Yeah, my last zhongyang meeting. There's someone who will be taking my post. Cool! Just hope that she can be fierce enough (hopefully more fierce than me)to make sure everyone response in time.

talked to a few regarding the "bird park ppl" comment. Quite a few of txy knew abt it. Just a summary: read in a ti-tong's blog that she described the last sun Captian ball match ( ti tong against tong xun yuan) as "we thrashed e bird park ppl!!hahax..".

My reaction was: "Hey!" Firstly, thought that's supposed to be a friendly match, why insult us as "bird park ppl". Futhermore, we only lost them by 3 points. so that shouldn't be consider as "thrashed".
Not that we are losers, i wouldn't mind if she wrote ' ti-tong beat the txy", as that's a fact. but she named us as "bird park ppl', just because our mascot is an eagle. Well, if I am nasty, i can describe them as "ppl who dun exist in this world", for their mascot-- a dragon, doesn't really exist in real life.
Yah, i may be a bit defensive, cos i felt that somehow we were betrayed. We invite them to join us for the malaysia camp, we helped them to host the Malsysians who were invited for the Sports Day. And she seems nice to us during last sat, when we took te malaysians out.... even though in her earlier blog in June, she described our performance and cheers which we are using for the malaysian camp as "lame", i took it that she wrote that because she dunno the txys well then.
We treat ti-tongs with sincerity, yet this is how we are like in their eyes...
******************************************
Birthday Present

Received my 1st birthday present from LvJ today. So paiseh, cos she shouldn't need to buy anything for me as she can't make it to my bday treat next sat. She gave me a cute witch wrist rest, which the "eyes" can pop out when u squeezed it. Haha, if i put it in my office, i'm sure play with it. ;P

recently, got a few friends ask me what's I want for my bday present. Always felt quite awkward to reply those questions. As I'm mainly a self-sufficent gal, as in -- whatever I want, and within my budget, i'll buy it myself ( haha, that's why i am not rich). last week, when a friend ask me that question, I even jokingly replied that i want "a man" and "diamonds"

Joking only lah, I dun think I'm ready to be involve in another relationship at this time......

As for diamonds, nah, i dun really fancy jewels.

******************************
Ribbons
When Sips saw the "ribbon-like" attachment on my clothes today, she was like "it's so (substitute my name here)".

Recently, my name has been associated with ribbons, as if my name is an adjective.

Last Sat was so funny, when Sips, SY and I were shopping with the Malaysians at Heeren, they were like exclaiming "It's so (my name)!" whenever they saw a dress with ribbons.

i think i only had 3 tops and 2 skirts with ribbons mah.... can't associate me with ribbons just because of that.

oh yah hor, the t-shirt which i am planning to wear next Sat also have a ribbon brooch attached leh. Hee hee.
************************************
Blue theme

On last year birthday celebration, i sorta "ordered" everyone to wear white top. For this year, it's an optional blue theme.
As a form of respect, i don't want to wear any red or cheerful colour. (read my blog ard 22 Dec last yr and you'll know why).

Was telling XY thsi afternoon that i am planning to get a customised, "all- blue" cake. And she seems more excited than me!

The fact is: I haven't even order yet....
Had to order by 11 Aug.
hmmm still considering what flavour should I get, perhaps Blueberry?

So lame! Blueberry not blue lah.

31 Jul-4 Aug

Yah, see lah, so many days haven't blog.
very tired liao.....

really feel lazy to write, but i "ordered" myself to write something as least for "recording purpose".

ok sat 31 jul, went to help out and meet up with the Malaysian xuejis who are in town for vist. i was like a lobster then, with my sunburns so obvious.
Followed them to our newscentre, before taking them to orchard rd for shopping.

have a few "hiccups" then... hai, dun mention here lah....

Sun 1 Aug. 1st time doing Sports days with ti tong. we played our games separately, until the last friendly match.
