cars
28 Nov 2003 (Fri)
6 gals in a small car.
5 female colleagues and I went out to town for lunch to celebrate a colleague’s b’day.
All of us squeezed into a small old Subaru. Keke, as Franc – the one who drives put in: fat one sit in front, the ones sit behind. I was among the four “thin ones’ to squeeze in the backseat. Hmm should I be happy that I belong to the ‘thin” category, or be unhappy cos I had to squeeze?
Well, we can get very rowdy inside the car, especially when other drivers wanted to cut in our land.
Scenerio 1 : Our car was at a turning point when another bigger car (actually more than 95% of the car on the road are bigger than our car) wanted to cut it.
Franc (female driver) , asking for fun: “ Should I let him.”
Other colleagues: “ NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! ”
Hmm thought there was a “rule” -- small car scared big car, so small car often had to give way to big car.
Scenerio 2: At Scotts Rd, we were at the rightest lane waiting to turn right. Suddenly, a Lexus (I think) wanted to cut in from our left. Note: inside that car were young, high ranking military man (in their Air force uniforms)
Franc (asking for fun again): You think should I let him.
Other colleagues: “NOOOOOOOO!!!!”
Franc forwarded the car a few inches, then say “But they military men leh”
DJG (front seat passenger): “ So what?”
Franc: “But think they got crab, star, and lobster leh (refer to their ranks)”
Then my other colleagues sitting in back seat start turning to look at them “I see! I see!”
“Aiyah two crabs only”.
“Anyway, we are on the land. Air force soldier not biggest here.”
Then Franc suggested to DJG “ Later you glare (diao3) at them.”
“Wooo WOA Wooo!” shouting & cheers from the backseat passengers.
Hai… guessed we were so rowdy that other drivers can hear us even the car windows were winded up…..
29 Nov (Sat).
Hai... today so busy and rushing here an there, running errands. So busy until at 4pm, my stomach was growling , then I realised I didn’t had lunch and breakfast.
Early afternoon, while taking a cab from Thomson to Yishun (rushing for time), don’t know why the taxi had to pass by Sembawang area.
At first, I found the area so familiar. Then realization struck me, which make me feel sad. It was the area where T had once drove me there before, to return his rented car on 2 May this year.
The cab passed by that Chan’s Rental--- that was the place he always rent his car from….
Passed by MacDonald’s ---that was where T stopped for a while as we walked out from the car rental shop to go and have our breakfast. Can still recall T asking me if I want to eat Mac or Prata then.
The cab then drove pass A & Z Muslim restaurant --- I recognized it as the coffeeshop where T and I had our pratas (for breakfast) on that day.
I really don’t today’s sighting is fated…. Normally I don’t pass by that area. The first time was on that day, where T took me along to return the car. Still remembered he pointed out to me his army camp in that area….
Since that day, I never got the chance to pass by that area. Until today…….
