blackout on tue night
yah. just experienced the first blackout of my life, the first blackout ever since my family shifted to bishan 14 years ago.
Weel, to put it in nicer words, i was in the bathroom, doing "my business" when the light suddenly went out. Initially, i thought it was my bro,up to his midshief again as he always like to switch of the toilet lights purposely. Then i heard shouts from my block and the neighbouring block.
Heard some females voices screaming in fear, whereas the guys were shouting "Oih!"
Duh, agitated for what..... shout "oih" also no use mah.
well, i struggled to put on my clothes (wore them on the opposite side out instead) and came out to find my torchlight. Then realised that the batteries were flat and I don't have spare batteries. Want to listen to radio for info but my receiver was also down ( no battery).
Parents went to find big candles. As we never came across blackout before, they simply forgot where they put the big candles. By the time they found them and lit them up, the electricity surply had resumed.
Lesson learnt: must be prepared. ( yeah yeah, have to buy new batteries and candles )

Sudden blackout in many parts of S'pore, power restored in some areas
SINGAPORE -- Many parts of Singapore was hit by a blackout at around 10pm on Tuesday night.
Readers called up The Straits Times Interactive at 10.15pm to say that the power failure affected areas like
Bishan, Serangoon, Joo Chiat, Bukit Batok, Jurong, Queenstown, Clementi, and even Holland Village.
But Toa Payoh, Pasir Ris and Woodlands were not affected by the power outage which lasted about 30 minutes.
Thirty minutes after the widespread blackout, lights were reported to have come back on in Changi, Serangoon North, Bishan, Clementi, Bukit Batok and Simei.
The power outage is believed to have been caused by a disruption in the supply of natural gas in Indonesia.
