D&D on Fri, 14 Jan 05
Promised to report on my company's D&D held at Legends. So here I goes.
Luckily I got a ride in my colleague's car on the way to the destination, if not I can't imagine the amount of cab fare I had to pay. We were not aware that the road leading to Legends from the ROM builing was blocked, and my colleague had to make a detour instead. We had to pass through this one way land and were aught in the traffic jam. Upon reaching the ballroom, we realised that we were one of the early batch to arrive even though we were abt 20 mins late. Two of my other colleagues had spent 1.5 hrs in their cab right.
Quite surprised that many colleagues make efforts to dressed up for the occasion, when most of them had done last minutes shopping. hmm, saw someone from the subsidiary company wearing a huge plastic tiara and a sash.... Well, if you ask me for my comments, I would say " Can't make it".
Byt hey, she was the Hollywood Babe of the D&D. Not because she was pretty. It's because she was EXTREME. The organisers had nominated 3 guys (which 1 is a gay, and another we suspect he is too) and 3 ladies who wore in clothing that (quote the compere) " you wonder how they have the courage to wear that and take cab or MRT to the D&D). Pity those who spent their hard-earned money on gowns/suits , thinking that being best dressed might get him/her the Hollywood Babe and Hunk title. Pity the Hunk and Babe too, for their prize was a
teddy bear, not some Sasha Bear but a
British Airways Teddy Bear.....
*shake heads* Big company yet so "cheepo"....
Shan't talk much abt the programs. Just that the compere made repeated"'cold jokes" regarding the lucky draw, and two performers from a subisdiary who were supposed to sing spent more than 5 mins talking abt how nervous they are, having cold, and voice sore from her singing competition..... blah blah blah before they actually start singing. I thought I was getting impatient with them(I was silently screaming "Have you two intro enough") until my colleague commented " quickly start singing lah!" to our table.....
Of course, there was the lucky draw. A few days ago, we were reminded to bring name card to the D&D for use in the draw. I was joking to my other colleague that we, who don't have name cards, must try to find ways to get a namecard to particpate in the draw, as I want to have a chance to
把公司"吸光光" before I leave the company. Haha, imagaine my surprised when the compere annouced my name. Was quite paiseh when my fellow colleagues from my table cheered while I had to walk the red carpet to the stage to collect the prize. I wondered if the organisers had made any mistakes as the first 5 names who were called out were given 11th to 15th prizes, while the later 5 lucky winners collected their 16-20th prizes. Mines was the 12th prize--
a $100 Crystal Jade voucher.
Quite happy with my prize as the top 3 prizes are home theatre systems ( note: not some high-end brands but brands like Pioneer)which i don't think I would have the chance to use it. As for the joke to 把公司"吸光光" ... well, I don't think i will have the ability to so that. All these depend on luck and chance. Must treat my 3 other colleagues in the car ride for a meal at Cyrstal Jade, because if not for the timing of my arrival, my card won't be at the lucky spot in the lucky draw bowl. (there are only 20 prizes given out, quite pathetic....) Hey speaking of that, the two other colleagues in the same ride with me also won something.Theirs was the 16-20th prize category, and they got goodie bag each containing a box of Brands Essence of Chicken, True Star perfume and small handbag (which they all suspected that these are left-overs gifts from some events).
(* smiling at Sips). Need to mention that half-way through my D&D, Sips called me to tell my that she was outside MuChuan, looking at her idol Jianhua. Hai... this gal is hopeless liao :P
Shall post pics of D&D if I received any.
