The ROM Ceremony
25 June 2005 was quite a busy yet enjoyable day. One of my best pal gotten married with her bf of 7 years (wooh). Well, though it's just a ROM ceremoy, it's rather grand.
It's rather special as they chose to have the solemisation conducted at their newly renovated flat (though they are sharing the flat with the bridegroom's sis & dad) . So it's sort of a ROM cum housewarming.
According to my friend, there's no extra charges for asking Justice of Peace to come to their house to conduct the ceremony, except they have to reimburse him for the transporation cost.
Think the couple spent quite a lot on this ceremony (from the decorations to the food), even though they are holding their customary wedding 2 years later. So sweet of them to turn it into such a memorable event.
Ok, shall show you some pics I had taken.
Trust my friend to come up with such funny ideas. She got a pink wings for herself and wore it on before the ceremony. Her husband was supposed to wear a bow tie but he only wore it for some photo shoots. I was one of the "helper" and was assigned to take pic of the couple and the guests with the polaroid camera and then quickly paste them on a guestbook and get them to sign on it. Had to admire their endurance for smiling and coming up wth different poses for every pic taken with the guests. There were 3 cameres in total ( a digital cam, a normal film-loaded camera and a polaroid ). There were at 30 guest. That means they had come up with 90 poses! Hahaha.
If you didn't know the bridegroom well, you won't believe that he is actually working as a policeman. We are all laughing at the jokes he crack-- him mimicking my friend's (his wife) act cute poses, laying down on the bed to do a sexy pose, and then getting his wife to hold the flowers to propose to him.
My friends and I all think that our friend, the bride look very good in the pics taken. Can really see her glowing face and radient smile.
The bride changed into an elegant yet sexy while gown for the ceremony. Hmm it 's a two piece dress, The top is a tube withe a layer of chiffon over it,and it was paired with a long while dress. It was completed with a pair of detachable sleeves. Someone joked abt the bride's revealing waist, asking if she is gona perdorm belly dance. Her gown sort of remind me of the costumes worn by the Queen of elves in LOTR.
Solemisation ceremony was rather serious. I din't know that after the couple said "I Do" after the regular question asked by the Justice of Peace, the couple have to hold their left hands together , raise up their right hands and repeat a pledge led by the Justice of Peace.
My friend's mum was tearing at the scene as my friend is the only child in her family. Later, she was so tired by the innocent-looking-but-potent fruit punch that she need to have a nap. Dunno what alcohol the "bartender" put in the fruit punch. Saw a few guys' faces turned red after downing one glassful of the drink. I had taken abt two glasses, though my face din't turn red, i felt dehyrated. haha. (now now my throat is a bit sore).
Before leaving their house, we were all given a pack of chocolates as wedding favors. I got an additional big present from my friend. Bridesmaid gift huh?
And guess what it is. A mini chair -- similar to the one that my friend used as her rings cushion. Erhm hmm, hinting me to get married huh??? Not so soon lah. :P
