13 Aug & 14 Aug Part 1

This is gonna be a very long entry, and with lots of pics too. Actually I am still waiting for another set of pics, but think I shall post with whatever I have now.

13 Aug 2005

Attended the Annual TXY BanJiang Dian Li at SPH Auditorium. Really have the “老鹰心态” –-- just go there eat buffet, see familiar faces, chat with those LTNS (Long time no see) ppl then watch the “youngsters” performing and receiving awards. Gone were the days were we are so “on”, sitting at the first few rows, cheering for yr groups members if you are not nominated for any awards.

This year’s Pyramid Trophies were much shinier compared to those I had received years ago. Instead of a coloured base, it is clear. From far, they really look like small crystal trophies.
Hmm, this yr theme is rather creative: 走光. It’s not what you are thinking. The “走光:” here means “走在星光大道”. They dim the lights of the hall and u can see a passage way created with fluorescent lightsticks. Cool huh! Looks as if u'd stepped into some happening pub.

Congrats to Chengyao, Jiahao and Sips for winning the best Newcomer Award. Out of the 6 awards for this category, these “muchuan goers” had grabbed 50 % of them. I always feel that winning the Newcomer award is more meaningful than winning other awards such as 最佳校园报道奖, 写作表现奖。因为“新人奖”只能拿一次,机会也只有那么一次。

U know what happened, I spoilt one of my heels of my high heels shoes. Cos I was trying to burst two balloons at one go. So I jumped into the air, hoping when landed, the heels will poke thru the balloons. But one of the balloon flew away and the impact of the heel hitting the floor cause it to break off. Hahaha.

Yeah , I still can laugh abt it . Luckily my house is nearby and I took a cab back home.

14 Aug 2005

Yes that is the “big day”. A gathering cum birthday celebration. Though my birthday falls on 17th. Met ppl whom I have not met for a long time, like Xinping and Xingfang, who are back in Singapore. Then there are these very busy ppl like Zhongwei , Liyun. To the TXYs, it is more like a gathering of old and new "yings". I purposely put them seated at a corner so that they can chat with each other.

Ok shall try to describe the line-up of the events in correct order.

I had purposely trying to keeping everything a secret, cos I want everyone to be surpised by how "Purplish" the whole event can be. Purple balloons, plates, forks, ribbons, decors.... Initially I wanted everything to be dark and light purple, but was advised to add a hint of other colour too. Pink was choosen as it is an element of purple. So that's why you can find pink plates , forks and balloons too. Think I had succeed in getting everyone to remember abt this 紫色的梦幻世界。

Early noon, after engaging my gor’s help with the collection the food, we proceed to Muchuan to meet up with Welly, Yaoxian, Yanfen, Wenxin to set up and decorate the place.

Saw Jianhua abt to complete making the flower-balloons arch at the entrance. Wow, really so pretty! Looks as if u are going to step into some fantasy land.

Then I saw the two standing balloon sculptures in front of the stage. 漂亮到我对它们爱不释手。

Must really have to thank Jianhua ,and Ah du too ,for waking up early to do these balloon sculptures and arch. And really feeling guilty that because of my event, they din get to eat their lunch. Ah du even have to make changes to his lessons schedule for that day. Paiseh, Paiseh.

I almost thought I did not bring the seating plan and was like saying “Shit! Shit! Shit!”.
Yah, I am not that demure as I looked that day. 有话就说,由屁就放。我才不会像一些人,在别人面前假扮淑女。( & I dun mean any from our group).

How strange is it that after I said that. I found the stack of paper containing the seating plan. Then Yaoxian helped me to sort them out into groups. She was so amazed to find the names of ppl she seldom see in TXY in my guest list. Yah, really honoured that "they gave me face".

At 1.30pm, I was getting a bit flustered, cos we were a bit behind schedule. My sandwich maker, Yanfen had not arrived cos she kinda confused with the directions to get to Muchuan. She said that the view of the area in the day was different from what she seen at night.

By 2pm, we had set up the main table. I dunno if you had notice the purple ribbon with little flower rosettes wound around the sides of the table. These are done by Welly, whom I called her as ‘ Miss 包山包海’ (Cos she really help out with lots of things)

See this poster.

(I purposely ‘erased’ my name). Welly not only designed it, but also sent it for printing.

She is also my hairdresser too, bringing her hair straighthener to “kiap” my hair straight. Yanfen act as her assistance. Hahaha. I am actually their ‘guinea pig’ as they never style ppl's hair before. But I think they did a good job .

Yiwei came in earlier than the rest as he needs to test out the sound system. Really, when I asked him to put up a performance, as my friends like his singing, I expect him to “anyhow choose a song”, bring along the karaoke VCD and sing. Imagine my surprise when he told me that his is going to sing not one, but two songs, and unplugged too! Such an honour.

Milie also came down and helped to tie the ribbons on the glasses. Really have to thank her for that.

The registration table was also set up ard 2pm. Gor helped to decorate it. But he kinda played cheat. He took a flower balloon which was done by Jianhua and hang it at one corner......

Since he got nothing to do liao, and I was told that Peishan (the original emcee for the day, who was also supposed to be guarding the registration table) will be late, as she had a triathlon competition that day, hence I made my gor help out at the table too.

They were given two “swords” to punish anyone who disobey the dress code.

But gor is very disgusting, he claimed that innocent-looking balloon looks like something.........
And he did this:

Arh bish!

The first guest to arrive is …… Regina. We were still clearing the mess when she stepped in. She wore a lacy yellow top and floral skirt, and obviously, she fulfilled the dress code.

Heh heh, think we were more like waiting to carry put “punishment” than waiting for guests to arrive. The dress code of the day was “it’s so S~”. That is: everyone must have to dress with a style similar to mine -– in shades of lavender or violet, or with lace, ribbons, rosettes, brooches….

My ex-colleagues from SPH Magazines arrived and hahaha Alvinn had the honour of being the 1st offender. He was made to draw out one of the forfeits (all are girly stuff) from a bag and wear it.

But I, being such a nice person, only required them to wear it for photo taking only. The Polaroid of him smiling cheekily (still dare to smile!) was pasted on the “Hall of shame”. Think many people din noticed it, as it was pasted at the back , near the food table.

Was looking through the photos that Haoyi took of the group. Haha so funny!

Siping, one of my junior leader 浩浩荡荡地走向木船。She was still a distance away from the table and we could hear her say “ See ! My group is the best. With me, we are never late.” Woah….. She didn’t know that her group isn’t the first group arrive.

Then everyone asked me to look at Chengyao. U know what he did?

See his “mole”.
*Faint*. But really creative right?

Jiahao was punished too. He drew out a flowery brooch and wore it over his ear.

Uncle Qingrong also disobeyed the rules, and was made to wear a furry hair band.

My discipline team must be too excited with so many ppl coming. I caught one of the “ 落网之鱼” happily sitting inside muchuan. He happened to be the “authethic” birthday boy of the day (14th)

Of cos, I dragged him out for my discipline team to 处理。

Ok. Think I shall continue describing the rest of the event in Part 2.
