Indulgence @ Paisley & Cream
20 Oct 2007Met up with Fannie over tea at
Paisley & Cream, the pretty-looking cafe at The Central.
To us, it's a "tai-tai" place, whee the Tai Tais would spend their afternoon there chatting, having pretty cupcakes and tea.

We ordered a cupcake each (mine is the Double Chocolate) together with a pot of tea and ice latte. Expected the bill to be about $20 as the cupcake cost $5.
When the bill came, saw that cupcakes were sold at a discounted price of $3.50 each.
Even though Fannie said that the cost of making cupcakes is cheap (which in my mind the market rate for a designed cupcake is $3), still we were wondering how this pretty cafe maange to survive as for that whole hour , there is only me and Fannie in the cafe.
For that hour, their earning from our bill is $18 +. There are 2 staff manning the cafe and estmate manpower cost could be abt $12 for that hour. Have not factored in the hourly rent, material cost...
Our conclusion:
The owner must be a TaiTai, opening a cafe just to past her time...
My verdict on the cafe:
Food: Cupcake was soft (meaning fresh?) though it did not have the "omph factor" when I ate it.
The latte fail to impress me.
The cafe scored mainly for its ambience.
