The 1111 wedding . (completed)

( Note: this gonna be a long post and I am writing bit by bit in different stages. )

Megan and Alan's Wedding on 11 Nov 2007

Feeling a bit "seh" when I woke up today(12 Nov).. must be from the "wine-drinking torture" ordered by the "bros" at the dinner last nite. Oh yeah, "sisters" being bullied by "brothers". Can't believe it rite. Anyway shall mentioned abt it later and better write everything down in sequence.

Woke up ard 7am on 11 Nov and left the house abt 30 mins later with the transitlink bus guide with me . Even know the bride for so many years, this is the first time I am going to her house ( well, it should be her 娘家 liao).

As one of her 5 "sisters" (姐妹),my role in that morning was to bring along my mp3 player with the music for the "tekan bridegroom and bros session" loaded. Prior to the wedding, we have decided to make them do a pole dance and answer some questions, then limbo rock .

While waiting for the bridegroom and his brothers to arrive, we make use of the photographer's service and took some pictures. I also took out my 'can only function for 10 mins" digicams and took some shots (mainly candid shots):

The photographer made us took lots of pictures. We (the sisters) were all commenting that that never in our lives that we had took so many pictures on a wedding. Ok lah, if we lok at it on a positive side, meaning the photographer is very hardworking. According to the bride, they engaged him thru word-of-mouth, as he was the photographer for one of the bros’ wedding last year.

While we were discussing abt the “tekan session” the photographer came to check with us if the bridegroom is the 玩得起 type, for he said he had ever photoshoot a wedding where the bridegroom was so pissed off by the games that he dump the bouquet of flowers , swore the F word and walked off.

Awkward silence. We were all shocked to hear how a bridegroom can behave in this way and could not help asking what happened to the bride. According to the photographer, she picked up the flower and went after the bridegroom.

Anyway we are all assured that our dear friend’s husband is not that sort. Furthermore our tekan session was quite easy.

“Tekan” session is planned as follows:
- Get angpow
- Made bridegroom or brother do a pole dance
- Get bridegroom to answer 5 question abt the bride. For every wrong question, they have to do a “Yoga pose” for the camera
- As requested by the bride, she wanted him to write her Chinese name, as she feel her surname is rather difficult for him (which is btw)
- Get ang pow again before letting them in
- Made them limbo rock at the living room
- Made the bridegroom sing a song before letting him into the bride’s room

We asked the bride to get her bridegroom to prepare 2 ang pows for the came and his reply was :

“我们准备了8张!”

真的吗?那么嚣张!

Later we knew why he prepared 8 red packets, cos he simply got off with the forfeits by shoving red packets to us. When we asked him o do the pole dance, he immediately as his “bro” to pass him a red packet. No wanting him to get away and to have great pics, we cajoled the bros to sent a rep to do it. After much delay, finally a bro did an innocent version of pole dance—circling ard the pole.

Then we proceed to ask the questions. When he got the answer wrong, instead of doing the yoga pose, he would passed another angpow to us without any hesitation . And when we request him to write his bride’s Chinese name, he tried to write “黄太太” but gave up halfway and passed another red packet. The whole scene was so funny. Never had we ever heard of a bridegroom who keep passing ang pows. Now we knew why he’d prepared 8 Ang Pows in the first place.

So by the end of the tekan session, we have collected 5 x $28 and a $98 ang pow –which were to be divided among 5 sisters.

We were quite laxed with our limbo rock and singing “tekan sessions”, for we simply let off those who chose to crawled under or jump over the bamboo pole and allow the bros to lead the bridegroom with singing “小薇” as he isn’t much of a singer.

According to the photographer, we aren’t 泼辣enough , Haha.
Aiyah we still need to 保持形象。

Oh forgot to mentioned this, last year as 姐妹 for our friend wedding, we tekan a group of brothers who are in the Police Force. This time, we tekan a group of brothers who are in the Air Force.

More photo taking before and after the tea-ceremony session at the bride’s place. As ladies, we cannot be too big with our actions and have limited poses. The photographer was teasing us that the bros pose better than the sisters ( “五朵花”as he called).

Then we proceed to the bridegroom’s house. The bridegroom told us we could all take a car each as he has 6 brothers driving. With the Lead sister taking the bridal car, left 4 of the sisters to choosing which car to follow to. Quite paiseh to see a row of cars waiting for us to get into, in the end we decided to split ourselves among 2 groups and took only 2 cars. 哈哈.

The session at the bridegroom’s place was quite short cos they only need to offer prayers. Then we proceed to his sister’s condominium nearby for the phototaking session , tea ceremony and buffet lunch.

Took lots of pics at the roof top garden, the poolside before the ceremony.
Took more pics again inside his sis condo (the view from her balcony was spectacular。)。

I liek taking candid shots and quickly took a pic of them while the couple is not looking. ahahha

The below pic is a scanned from the few pictures the photographers passed to us to share among ourselves on the wedding dinner. We were all praising the photographer for being so efficient to do the some special effects to the pics in the few hours of rest he had in the afternoon and how he knew we would like to have a few copies of the pictures for ourselves first.

Anyway, as you can see, the sisters were all rather tired by the afternoon – noticed our eye bags.
But it’s alright, cos 这样才可以衬托新娘的美。The bride is supposed to be the most radiant and prettiest on her wedding day!

Think the below pic is taken at the rooftop garden. The photographer used a special lens. We looked so happy yah

After the tea ceremony, the bros can proceed to eat their buffet lunch, but the sisters were made to take pictures with the bride. Alamak, we ran out of our poses. Especially for this series where he want each sister to take two different poses with the bride.

Becos the bride is wearing a Kua, I came up with the idea of doing a "莲花指” but could not control myself and start laughing out loud. As for the 2nd pic, dunno why the idea of "Mr & Mrs Smith" pose came into my mind.

After the buffet, we all went back for some rest and to dolled up ourselves for the nite. The bridal car driver (also the owner of the mercedes benz) offered to drop us off at the convenient places along his way. Becous he lived at Hougang, I have the privileged to be dropped off at the mrt station near my house. My fellow cute sisters were questioning him during the journey. Found out that he is only 24 year old student at a local university and doing this part time. When he said he was paid $300 for driving the bridal car for the morning til noon, my friend suggested that she should get a mercedes too to earn $ part time too. Haha

As for the wedding dinner, naturally, the 姐妹 gotta help out at the reception. There were two wedding dinner held at the hotel's two ballrooms-- nearly got confused when we saw the reception table being taken up a group of unfamiliar faces. While darks colours are being frowned abt by the elders at such auspicious events in the past, we the sisters came dressed in black and grey.

(The lady in white is Teng Teng, who is our common friend. One of the "sisters" is MIA as she went to help out at the bride's side.)

Compared to my experience at 小白'swedding last year, I find that it's much easier when helping out at this wedding perhaps due to more communication between the sisters and the two brothers who were the ushers. On and off they would double check the headcount at the dinner and match with our lists.

As teh couple do not have much requests, there weren't any programs arranged (guess they feel that the guests prefered to enjoy their food. And the food was really good!). Of cos they still had the customary March-in, cake cutting , champange pouring and 交杯酒。 Not to forget the Yum-Seng session.

Guess what? Our dear bride requested that we the sisters to go up the stage to yum seng too. Alamak , we were dressed in gowns leh..if we shouted "Yum seng" loudly, will spoilt our image leh. So in the end, we chose to "harmonise" the bros when they were shouting "yum................... seng!".

These were the pictakes taken at our table. Got them on that very nite. The photographer is reallly efficient. He brought along the portable printer and printed a few copies of the photos on teh spot. And while the guests were having dinner, the stage screen was featuring all the pics taken on the morning and that nite.

But that's one prob abt him being too efficient though....

Later the bride came over to our table, requesting the sisters to help her to 挡酒。Bewildered, we went to the table where the brothers were seated. There one of the brother posted a question to the groom:

"你要生男的还是女的?”

“女的。”replied the groom.

With that, the brother added a raw egg into a glass of stout.

“眼睛大还是眼睛小?”

“大” repleid the groom. and then a scoop of wasabi was added.

We suspected that no matter what the groom replied, their plan was to add those stuff....

Seems like this combination is too potent for the groom. After downing that concoction, he was like seh liao, for when they ask the bride to drink a glass of wine, he was like grabbing it , saying “我喝!我喝!“。

Managed to pull him away and when the bride drank a sip, she found out that it wasn't pure red wine-- consisted of hard liquor. Could not recall what lead to us sharing it later.

As if this wasn't enough, the bro took out a BOTTLE of red wine, and as the bride to drink to a certain level (cannot tekan the groom liao as he seemed CMI), and said that if the bride soght our help, we have to drink the whole bottle.

Needless to say, we end up havin to share the whole bottle. Tried to bargain with the bro on why they din drink ( can't believe the sisters have to help the bride to 挡酒,normally it should be the brothers helping the groom to 挡酒),and the brothers excuse was that as Air Force me, thay have to report to work at 5am the following and they cannot afford to drink.

So the bottle was passed among the sisters for one one, with "小黑”dranking the most as her 酒量is the best among us. Despite every sister taking their share and there was still a certain level ofwine to be passed among the sisters for a 2nd round. And 3 of the sisters were getting quite worried for getting hangover as they need to work the next day and drank less. ( I had applied a day off knewing that I might be tired after a day's event). I was the 2nd last one to finished up the remaining liqour yet I have to finish all becos the sister beside me need to work the next day.

Thank god we were let off after I had bottoms up. "小黑”'s and my face were flush-red not long after we returned to our table. (but not drunk lah). We started to "whine" abt how we were being bullied by the brothers.... And soon we saw pictures of us (the sisters) drinking the bottle of wine shown on the screen. Thanks to the ever-efficient photographer....

"Aiyoh, 没形象了。”Someone joked.

Had my bowl of orh-nee before we (only 3 sisters) proceed to the bridal suit. End up nobody managed to 闹洞房 as the bridegroom was totally "seh" -- vomitted quite a few times. Helped the bride to pack up her gowns and can-can before we left. Have to say I was rather fortunate that day as i need not took so many taxi trip (already saved one in the afternoon when teh bridal car driver sent us home). As two of the brothers are also staying in the eastern area, and rather familiar with where I stayed, I was arranged to be sent home by them.

From the conversation we had on the journey, I was rather surprised to find out that they actually used to hang out at the kopitiam near my house when they were in Poly. I din even know that my neightbourhood was so popular even though it wasn't the town central. I was rather embarrased when they mentioned they used to order this "可爱鸡” with noodles and I claimed that I never knew that western food stall did sell noodles.

Recalled in the afternoon that the bridal car driver also mentioned that he used to hang out at the central of my neighbourhood as his secondary school was located in that area. Should I feel prond that I stayed in a popular meighbourhood ? Hahaha.
