Company retreat

Yah!!! Need not go to office later, but going to Sentosa Sijori resort for company retreat.
And staying there over the weekend. So won't be posting any blogs.

Actually, saw the programme line-up, not a day of fun actually.... got to listen to talks by management, play some stupid ice-breaking games and games on how your department can perform better....
Sianzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

What I am looking forward is that after the retreat end at 6pm, my friends (colleagues) and I checked into the resort and relax.

Got a slight fever, so now praying it will subside after a night of sleep.

More personality test results

I dun think it's accurate..........

I am truly passionate.

Find your soul type
at kelly.moranweb.com.

You're excited about life and in touch with yourself and nature. Tell me, do I have this straight?

Virtues: You appreciate humor like none other. Puns might even spark laughter in you (THEY R FUNNI). You seek adventure and connection with your surroundings. You seek friends who will not only share laughs with you but actually form a deep bond of trust and empathy beneath the surface. You look for adventure and courage in people, and variation is necessary to keep you under control. You see yourself as multi-faceted, so you need people who can see you in your many lights. You're constantly trying to figure yourself out while analyzing the people around you. Silly, silly people.

Aspirations: You can't decide what you want to be yet, but you know you want it to be adventures and interesting, with constant changes. You don't know what love will do for you yet, but it's competing with adventure for a place in your heart. An internal conflict has begun: can you be a successful worker, lover, and parent all at once?

Quirks: Noise of any sort is irritating when you're in the mood. Smacking gum, loud chewing, humming- it's about as pleasing as bodily noises. You dislike emaciated people because of jealousy and just plain disgust. You're a procrastinator but a hard worker, too.

Factors: You need constant attention and support. You're high-maintnence, but a great, reliable friend. Nature needs you and you need nature; it's helped thus far, so keep in touch with the outside world.

Future: Who knows! You absolutely need constant change, so vacationing is surely in the cards. Will you settle down or not? Love will find you eventually, as it does to everyone. Will you choose the sweet home life or the rewarding busy-bee life?

20 & 21 March

here's a quick run-through of events

20 March (Sat)
Went to my TXY freshmen Orientation. Nothing much to comment.
My group newbies seems rather active.
Heard that there's a group of 'bimbos' in the other group.
This years newbies seems to be more concern abt their appearance.
Normally those who joined often wear crew-neck tops and jeans, but yesterday, i saw these newbies who seems to be from secondary school, wearing mini-skirts, spagetti tops, off shoulder top and with make-up on their faces..
hmmmm

One more interesting fact: this year, the freshmen orientation nite falls on the same day as the Taiwan presidential Election. Seems like history repeats itself as the same thing happened four years ago. Not only that, the results are the same: Chen Shui Bien won.

21 March (sun)

I don't think i am used to the idea of having a maid to serve in my home.
Why?

When i got back home at 12 midnight after having supper with friends at Braddell's MacDonalds (after the Freshman orientation), i was going to pack my cardigan and sports attire for today's hip hop dance lesson. But to my surprised, those clothes i hanged outside the warewrobe were not there but were folded neatly togther with my other clothes in my warerobe.

Aiyoh, told the maid no need to tidy up before I left.

I may not be very tidy, but i got a reason to be untidy... :P
For example, those clothes which i need to iron, i will stash them away at the left side of the wardrobe, to differentiate from the stacks of clothes on the right side.

Anyway the maid is only here for two days and will be going back to her agency tomorrow. The agency has too many maids "stuck" there, so they offered us the free service in exchange for the maid's accomodation and meals for these two days

15 March 2004 (Mon)

Went to watch the movie Dirty Dancing 2: Havana night with my friend (also colleague at Lido at 9.30pm. Hmm...it didn't left us as inspired as the hip-hop movie: Honey, which we watched last month.

As for the movie synopsis, here's what I found from Yahoo!movies website:

Premise: Set in 1958 Havana, this is the story of a lonely 17-year-old American girl, Katie (Garai), who moves to Cuba in the days right before the Revolution with her parents, where she soon meets a charming and talented local dancer, Javier (Luna), who encourages her to discover her natural dancing abilities. Undoubtedly, it all leads to an exciting climax as Castro's forces take control and the Americans are forced to leave... will the girl choose to stay with her true love or go back to America with her mean, un-dirty-dancing parents? (Ward and Slattery play Katie's parents; Boorem plays Susie, Katie's little sister; Lavan plays Javier's revolutionary brother, Carlos; Jackson plays an American teenager who doesn't like Katie's new boyfriend)

Here's how Artisan Entertainment puts it:

"Havana: November, 1958. 18-year-old Katey Miller (Romola Garai) brings an innate curiosity and a smattering of Spanish to her new life in Cuba's lush capital, where her father has taken an executive posting at Chrysler. Schooled by her parents in the art of ballroom dancing, Katey is expected to join the smart set of American teenagers who are the Miller's neighbors at the exclusive Oceana Hotel. But Katey finds herself drawn instead to the proud, purposeful Javier (Diego Luna), a waiter who also happens to be [a] brilliant dancer. Determined to learn the slinky, spectacular moves that Javier seems to know in his bones, Katey persuades him to partner with her in a prestigious national dance competition at a grand local nightclub, The Palace. Meeting secretly in an out-of-the-way Havana nightclub, Katey and Javier practice their steps, their bodies aligning in a sensual harmony that mirrors the growing passion between them. As the night of the contest finally arrives, Katey and Javier are ready to take their place as a couple on the dance floor, unaware that the country club, and the streets of Havana itself, are about to erupt in revolutionary violence."

Ibiza

Tried on the Escada's Ibiza perfume which I bought on Friday.

Yah I know, Escada just launched its new fragrance -- Island Kiss.

if i'm not wrong, this Ibiza fragrance was launched last year, before Escada's Magnetic Beat and Island Kiss.

Well I bought just 6 ml of perfume from the push cart shop which sold original perfume at $2 per ml. Perfume bottles cost from $1 onwards. Refill perfume are entitled to a discount of 10% .

Anyway, this Escada Ibiza is much long lasting than CK Escape (one of my fav). I sprayed a little of it on my body at around 3pm in the afternoon, and now, can still smell it.

Took leave yesterday. Told my boss that the reason is to help my mum to source materials for her course project.

Well, i wasn't lying, i really did source for the materials yesterday afternoon, but the main reason i took leave was to go to NTU to submit the cheque for my University application, made enquries and visit ex-colleagues of mine.

What i really wish/want now is to get into University this year.

*********************
Well, i got up from bed at 12noon today. Slept aroud 12 midnight yesterday, I was woken up at ard 10am, but lazed on bed until 12 noon. Guess today is the first time in months that I manage to get so many hours of sleep.

Recently, read that we should sleep early, as the skin generates new cells at 10pm to 2am. Hence, if u want healthy skin, slap on all your "skin tonics" at night time and make sure you are asleep during these hours.

Aiyoh, if that's true, no wonder my skin's so bad now. Cos I often slept after 1am. kekeke

Manage to catch this entertainment show "Happy Sunday" on TV at 7pm this evening cos my friend had fallen ill and had to cancel our appointment. After catching the show, now I understand why my colleague, a 28 yrs old female, go "ga-ga" over this Jerry Huang Zhiwei (who acted in this Taiwan TV serial The Rose) , when she saw report of him on the New Paper.

At that time, I never seen this Jerry 黃志瑋 on TV, only read abt him through some small reports that he's tall , got Eurasian look and acted in The Rose.

"Why har?" I asked my colleague that day, when she mentioned Newpaper featured him.

"Don't U think he's handsome?" She asked.

" Arhh, he's tall only mah. 他脂粉味太重 (ta1 zhi1 fen3 wei4 tai4 zhong4)" I replied

Okay Okay, i admit after watching this 1.93m, 22 yr old actor-model in Happy Sunday, playing this Charade game, found him dashing ( a more suitable word than handsome). No matter which way he stand, he seems to be striking a pose instead.

But still think he got this powdery look -- his face is so clean, fair and glowing. And he even mentioned that he went for threading (to remove fine hairs on his face), which is why he could act out the threading actions so well in the game of Charade.

D & D

Not Dinner & Dance, but Dance & Digit

Dance
Sat was the official opening of the dance studio (where i go for hip hop lessons) in its new location . And yesterday, was the "free dance Singapore" event where all the different dance lessons were free to all the public.
went for the hip hop in the morning. it was so pack that u can hardly swing yr hands. The dance instructor is the same one that taught us. But yesterday, he taught us advance-beginners steps, instead of beginners steps. on "extreme" dance step was that after we in a knee-bent position, had to squat own an touch the floor and then to push up postion, then lay on one side, bring up heels, curl yr body up into a sitting positon.

think i put all my weight on my hands when doing that, so right now my whole body, especially the arms aching badly.

Digit

digit-- 4D

Can't believe my luck that i won 4D first time, and the number i bought was my friend's car number (the one whose's car was hit when she was driving us out for lunch). In my life, I seldom gamble, think this is my 3rd of 4th bet so far.and I only placed $1. Though i only won 2 digit figure, was already happy and I know that the probability of winning is not that high.

Ironic thing is-- my colleague actually want to buy that number yesterday morning, but was stopped by her brother as they are going to Church.

hmm was wondering is the Chinese horoscope that i came across last year was true that rooster are quite lucky this year and they can buy some lottery to try their luck.. or I won because I helped someone last week. there is this weird auntie who claimed that she lost her wallet and need $1.90 to take bus home to Tampines. and she said that she only need $1.90 and if i dun had exact, she will ask the cashier of the shopping centres nearby to change for me. i saw passers-by in front of me doubted her and ducked away. So to me $1.90 not such big deal & I was in a hurry to go home, and if she 's really lying and trying to ask everyone for $1.90, she will not be getting much as most avoid her.

So there goes the saying:You loose some, You gain some; you gain some, you lose some.

One colleague told me it's better not to keep the lottery winnings. Anyway, I am going to buy some treat for my colleague (the one whose car number that i placed bet on), and other colleagues. So given the small amount, should had spent them al.

welcome Diego

Diego

Who is Diego?
It is a new additon to our family's pets.
when I return home, saw this small fish tank saying "Diego's home", and a terrapin hiding under a lid.
well, my sis had bought this for my brother, and he named it Diego, after the Man u soccer player. Not that he idolise Diego. In fact, it is the opposite.
He named the terrapin Diego as a pun "Diego 是乌龟" (diego shi4 wu1 gui1).
Ha ha.

Events

ok, din write for the past few days. Rushing it now, so not going to organize the events in chronological order.

ok. Really empathise with my colleague as she had her car bumped into again for the third time in two weeks when we were going out for lunch yesterday. All these times, it's not her fault. As she said, though she need not need to worry abt the payment, but 3 times over 2 weeks kenna knocked and having to go back to her mechanic is very 'sian". Somemore over her ten years of driving, she wasn't involve in any accidents until recently....

What happened yesterday was she drove us (3 other colleagues and I were in passenger seats) out for lunch as she gotten her car back from the mechanic. And as she's waiting to turn out of our office, the car jolted and a loud bang was heard. The lady driver of that SDZ license plateToyota bumped into us cos she wasn't looking. She got out of the car, looking very fierce, until we, the passengers all get out to have a look. Then she examine both cars and then admit she wasn't looking. She said," my husband is going to scold me. We settle it between ourselves. You send me the invoice. Don't report to police arh." She stressed not to make report more than once...

but one thing interesting, my colleague car, though old, a small Subaru with a license plate starting with 'SBT", was knocked in the "butt" by this new made in Thailand Toyota (license plate starting with SDZ), yet, her bumper only suffered a few scratches, the right tail light was smashed, but the other lady's car was in worse shape. The metal part just below the headlight was so dented in. Now, that left us wondering, has the quality of Toyota gone down after it relocate its factory to Thailand, or old cars were made of better, stronger materials.

Was updated by my colleague this afternoon, she had to resort to make a police report cos this woman (who holds a managerial position) didn't keep her promise and refused to pay the amount. My colleague had told her that the cost $280 after checking with her mechanic and after confirming with the lady on the 'settlement' this morning.

Sigh...........

*****************
I caught this movie "Honey" with my colleague yesterday, after work.

Nevermind the local critics give it a C rating, but I guessed it's because the storyline is so-so. but the dance steps shown were cool. Especially at the last part of the movie where all the kids and teenagers dance at a fund-raising performance made us so high that we feel like giving a standing ovation. haha.

Maybe escribing it as "Cool" is an understatement, should describe those dance steps as "fantastic", "awesome"....

For hip hop learners like us, we noticed some of the dance steps shown in the movie were also taught by our dance instructors. The kids in the movie danced so well, that we feel rather ashamed of ourselves.

But it really left us inspired......
maybe for a couple of days only lah! ;)
