more gifts and a song+ Flea Market
and today, 30 Jan, right after lunch, J.L. gave me this
It was from her & Y.
CUTE!
Then my Monster boss presented me something from the rest of the colleague, saying he hold it 1st, in case it got lost. ????? what he meant?
It was a card and $220 worth of Isetan vouchers (hmmm does Isetan sell MP3 player. I need to buy one).
Wanna take a pic but my digicam batt went flat. So only manage to take a pic using my hp camera.
Have to side track from here.
heard a song aired over FM 933,
林忆连》 专辑里的 “It wasn't meant to be”。
it wasn't meant to be
it wasn't meant to be
it wasn't meant to be
it wasn't meant to be
it wasn't meant to be
it wasn't meant to be
it wasn't meant to be
it wasn't meant to be

taiwan 2007 trip-- day 2
18 Jan 07 (Thur)
Has already anticipated that I would be spending a lot of $ on this day, cos scheduled to visit the DIY craft supplies stores and shopping for clothes at wu fen pu 五分埔. Never did I expect that I would spend ard NTW$6000 in a day!
Morning, went to check out Bear Mama store at 延平北路。
This is the shop front. What I like most are the pre-pack DIY necklace kits. And the beads are so special! Quickly smsed flutterby if she wanna a pack. Haha, i think she'd go crazy if she was there.
Had breakfast at a nearby cafe 呷尚宝。Refer to my "artwork" below: (click for a larger view)
Then continue to explore the other craft shops along the area. Bought quite a few stuff from other shops too.
Then proceed to 后山埤station for clothes shopping at 五分埔.
Had lunch at 胡须长卤肉饭 shop , which is at 永吉路。 My orders were:
and I had taken their namecard and scanned for you guys, in case u are interested to visit it:
Shopped at 五分埔 for hours . As it was the winter season, only winter wear were available. These are some of the stuff I had bought:
NOT INCLUDED in the above pics were;
- a brown top for my sis
- a top for my friend
Then went to 台北地下街,an underground shopping mall and ended up purchasing this:
keke cos can get a chance to wear boots while in Taipei, so buy for fun lor ($20 , not ex mah).
Also bought a pair of pink & gold shoes for CNY -- cost only S$10
Dinner was at 鼎泰丰, 信義店(本店)with Sally & Chile.
In summary, here's my artwork:
Didn't take pictures of the soup, buns and 韭菜饺。
After a hearty meal, we decided to explore the nearby 永康街。(it is not name after the singer 苏永康ok!). Explored a 2nd handed CD/books shop.
Then walked passed the famous ICE Monster. Chile suggested to eat icy cold "ice-kachang" in the cold weather.
In the end, she bought this "青蛙包二奶" first.
"青蛙包二奶" is actually like the normal pearl milk tea. "二奶" means 2 types of milk were used -- 鲜奶与炼乳。
Bought this mixed fruit ice which costed NTW$160 @ Ice MONSTER (冰馆). Compared to Singapore's ice kachang, it can be considered expensive but it tasted much better.
For the benefit of those who may wanna check out these two shops, I did remember to "kope" their namecards and here are the scanned copies: (CLICK for larger view)
(cant believe this post took me abt 4 hours to complete!)
Taiwan trip 2007 -- Day 1
Here a report of my Taiwan Trip (17-23 01 2007)
17 Jan 2007
Reached airport ard 11am, and quickly checked in my luggage. Despite me bring only 4 sets of clothes for a 7 day trip( I intend to buy clothes at 五分埔), the weighing scale showed that my luggage is slightly more than 8kg. which is more than what I had packed for my Taiwan trip last year. What did I put in? hahaha.
Asked for aisle seat cos much easier to get off. Silently pray that I won’t be experiencing a similar “光头老incident" ( refer to my archived post: http://harmoniewong.blogspot.com/2006/03/taiwan-trip-day-one.html)
No boarding passes were issued, just 2 slips of “printed tickets”. Noted that under sequence number, a “4” was stated. I presumed that means I was only the 4th passenger who checked in?
Guessed it’s a good thing to check in early, cos I noticed those who did so were given seats allocated in the front wing of the plane. I was seated in row 9 (here were 30 rows), and mot of the passengers from row 1-10 were given a row of their own. Guessed of all us opted for aisle seats.
See, not bad huh. No complains abt legroom as I do not have long limbs. Hahaha.
Reached Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport (台湾桃园国际机场) slightly before 6pm. Just the past experience of taking the airport shuttle with Flutterby last year, I stilled remember the way to purchase the tickets for 国光号---once u walk past the arrival gate, simply turn left and walk towards the end of the hall. For NTW$140 , u can reached Taipei Main Station (an mrt station) in 50 mins.
Keke guessed what. On the bus, heard 李圣杰&张玉华duet 《是你决定我的伤心》aired over their local radio station. Traffic was bad that evening, partly due to the weather. Engaged in a small talk with the lady who sat beside me. Was rather taken aback when she gave me her number and asked me to contact her if I need any help. (will write more details in my private blog)
By the time the bus reached 台北车站,it was abt 7.45pm liao.
Had dinner with Sally & Nita at 咖哩匠, which is located at Fortune Centre near 台北车站. (their website www.currychamp.com.tw is still under construction, so for more info, can refer to this website:
http://tw.lifestyle.yahoo.com/biz.html?bizid=04d8c200ba882023).
Now, for those friends who know me well will wonder what I can eat at a restaurant which sells mainly curry. Fret not, I ordered a Seafood Omelet Rice set which isn’t spicy. Prices were quite reasonable too, if I am not wrong , the Seafood Omelet Rice set cost NTW$330, which includes a drink, a salad, the main dish & Tiramisu cake. But then, I feel paiseh when Sally insisted on treating when it was time to leave.. Should have order the main dish only.
This is the pic of the main dish. Not very clear , I know :P.
Picked up a new Chinese phrase over the meal:
à la carte = 单点
要尽量说标准的华文了,少说rojak式华文。哈哈。
(Shall continue with the rest over the next few days. This is taking much more time I had expected cos right now I am not in a very good mood, hence not in the mood to combine those pics I had taken into scrap pages. )
snacks
Done two e-scrap artwork before I go overseas.
This is the box of Royce chocolate my 1st boss had given me. My 4th boss mentioned that Melty Kisses Chocolates are cheapo version of Royce. As I am already contented with having Melty Kisses, I was almost in heaven when I took a piece of the Royce at home.
‘Ohhhh !” I went.
My brother laughed at me and when he took a piece, he went “oohhhh, ooohhh” and jumped around.
Happened to see these at a mama-shop last weekend. Reminds me of my childhood. Kaka used to come with a small toy. Now it tastes blend and lau-hong. Nonetheless, I will buy it again if I come across it some day.
had been tying up some loose ends here and there:
Saints Cuisine
Supposed to post this before 2007 but was too tied up with other entries.
On 15 Dec 2006, I met up with the "SPH Gang" for dinner at "Shrek"'s stall-- Saints Cuisine. I found the concept very interested, the shopfront, menus and the chef are all in pink!
Ordered chicken chop (can't remember the exact name) that night and also ate our free sides (Metal Bucket--which is fried mashed potatoes balls , har-qiong-gai). Wanted to take pic but it slipped out of my mine.
so it happened on the following, my friend & i were at the area again, as I was going to buy my laptop. Mentioned to my friend abt this "pink stall open by a guy " and he was curious abt it. So I 顺便treat him dinner to thank him for his help.
So this is the pan fried fish dish i ordered. I forgotten what's its exact name on the menu, can only remembered Pork Chop is called "Hot Babe" & lamp chop is called "Mary's Lamb" instead.
Looks good right. Seems like a dish from some restaurant hor. And it tastes good too. (pic taken with Hp camera as I did not bring my digicam along)
With such high-class presentation, it only cost $6.
My friend ordered “Hot Babe" and when the food was served, he was like "wah, looks appetising." . And after he took a bite, he was full of praises, "很好吃!真得很好吃!".
Yet, I thought he just commented that to give my friend's face on my account. And I chided him ;"不要假假啦。有这么夸张吗?”。
And guessed what, I was mouthing the same words "真得很好吃耶。”when I was given a piece to try.
Frankly speaking, I am not a fan of pork chop. All the pork chop I had eaten from other kopitiam stalls were tough and unappetising. This “hot babe" was really tender and juicy. Will definitely try this out on my next trip.
Sorry no pictures of "hot babe" cos it was already "attacked" before we remembered abt it.
And here's is the pic of the stall.
* Saints Cuisine is located at Blk 9, Selegie Rd, #01-19。
the crazy thing we did before New Year
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well, let me clear something before I talk abt more serious stuff (reflections of the year 2006, new year resolutions etc..)
Just a few days before the year 2006 (28 Dec) comes to an end, the grasses, XY and I had done something crazy, outrageous..
We sat on the middle of Orchard Road. And the traffic stopped for us!
Dun believe? I have pic to prove it.
Main Pic was from Xinyao. Additional touch up by me. (Grasses, if u wanna the pic, click on it for a larger view)
If you do not know, that was part of the Bideford Junction Crosswalk events organised by STB.
For detailed info, pls click on this URL
http://app.stb.com.sg/asp/new/new03a.asp?id=6143
In summary, at every 30 minute interval from 7.30pm, traffic at Bideford Junction (which is the area bounded by Paragon, Crown Prince, Meritus Mandarin hotel, Ngee Ann City) will stop for a minute. during this time pedestrians can cross the junction in any way they like, and can do anything they want , under breathtaking lighting scenarios.
I had come across it on the news but din expect to really experience it when we left Party World and came to the junction at 11pm.
It was only after we crossed half of the road tat some came up with the idea of taking pics.We quickly took pics, standing in the middle of the traffic. and to our dismay, we found that the pics were blur, due to the fog on the camera lens.
The "traffic controllers' told us that there were 2 more chances for the nite, with the next one at 11.30pm. Was hesitating whether we should stay for another 30 mins just to cross the road again, but since we are unlikely to pass by the area again within the next few days, we might as well not miss the opportunity.
anyway, 30 minutes passed quickly. And we are the only ke-siao pedestrians who choose to sit on the middle of the road while the others quickly cross the road.
So unhappening...
Like what little grass commented: 不是说新加坡很闷,没什么好玩。现在有这种机会给他们玩,他们又不去玩。
闷的,是人,而不是环境....
