“三角恋 " songs

Hmm, recently there ‘s a couple of songs relating to “三角恋 ", specially highlighted the verses here. (dunno why I so boh liao and do this)

Stefanie

The following song was released quite sometime ago, to me, there was a hint of 3rd party entering the relationship,

bday celebration and ....

Went to Yaoxian's 21st bithday celebration today. Time really flys so fast and suddenly this "little gal" I met from TXY 7 years ago is now an adult.

Had been working on my "secret project" for the past few nites, and sacrificing lots of hrs of sleep. So far, progress has been minimal. wanted to work on it just now, but keke, was up to some mischief for tomorrow. (Which I will update you after after tomorrow. :P)

Howl's Moving Castle and others

Went to watch Howl's Moving Castle (directed by Hayao Miyazaki's), a Japanese anime at Cineleisure with my ex-colleagues ( 7 of them, yet we 8 manage to get to sit in a row). I absolutely have no idea what this movie is about when my friend called to ask if I am interested, and I told her “ Scary movie ha? If so , I am not interested.” What a joke man!

Anyway, guessed my friend gathered us all to watch Howl's Moving Castle because the main character—Howl, is voiced by TAKUYA KIMURA. My other friend was gushing how “pretty” Howl is. Yah, the 美男子type.

Hmm, compare to Spirited Away, I think Howl’s is not that much detailed. Also there were some parts we aren’t cleared about, for example: Why at times Sophie is an old woman, while at times she resumes back to her normal state though her hair is still white; What curse was the wizard, Howl under? And what is his purpose in life—just to fight against bombs? Why his hands will grew feathers when fighting?

Was searching for some synopsis on the web, and managed to get a few clues.
Here they are:

Based on Howl's Moving Castle by
Diana Wynne Jones. Howl's Moving Castle follows the story of young Sophie Hatter, a bookworm, the eldest of three daughters, a girl doomed to an uninteresting life as a hat maker. Sophie resigns herself to her boring fate, but fate has other plans for her. Cursed by the Witch of the Waste with the body of a 90-year-old woman, she finds her way to the moving castle inhabited by the wizard Howl, said by all to eat the souls of young girls.Howl has been cursed by the Witch as well, and is seeking the love of young girl to help him break the curse

Another plot summary from
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0347149/plotsummary

“A young woman named Sophie is cursed by the Witch of the Waste, and turns into an old woman, and she is unable to tell anyone of her plight. Unable to continue her job at her mother's hat shop, she goes to the ambulatory castle of the notorious wizard Howl, and insinuates herself into his household. Sophie befriends Calcifer, the fire demon who powers the castle and who is bound to Howl by a contract, the terms of which Calcifer cannot reveal. They promise to help each other with their problems. Like Calcifer, Howl can also see through the Witch's spell, and he and Sophie fall in love. Sophie helps Howl confront his former teacher, and the Witch of the Wastes.”
************************************
Received a few shocking news from my ex-colleagues.
One of them was a really a shocking piece: One of my ex-colleagues’ husband had passed away suddenly. So sad that now she’s a young widow. Perhaps it’s a blessing that she has no kids though married for a couple of years.
There were a lot of changes in my ex company now. One was fired on the spot last week, there was a change of printers, staff now have to state their movements on the shared calendar……
Well, nothing much to say as I am not located there anymore :P

thoughts

Had actually wrote these yesterday afternoon, was thinking of posting from home after adding in the Chinese characters, but then was caught up doing a “secret project”. So upload it now, and think will only substitute the Chinese characters on Friday nite (if I am not working on my “secret project”) . keke.

Some thoughts:

  1. Don’t understand the Pink T-Shirt craze among the guys. Pastel pink formal shirt is ok, pink polo Tee is slightly acceptable, but shocking pink Tshirt?? GAYISH! SISSY!
Somehow, gals wearing blue is fine, but guys wearing pink seem awkward…..
  2. It seems scary at times to catch myself discussing abt serious topics with friends or others. Years ago, we could spent time gossiping or comparing our lives. Now we talked abt more serious topics like marriage, career, and parenthood.Last week, B was telling us that he and his wife had agreed not to have any kids after seeing how his brother and sister-in-laws can’t control their children. B is 27 yr this year, yet wo li zhi qi zhuang de gao shi ta, that it's too early to say so for he might not have this thinking a few years later, when he see his friends with kids, pressure from parents. I even quoted him examples of my ex-colleagues, after remaining as DINKs ( Double Income, No Kids) for years, suddenly have the urge have a family of their own after seeing kids playing at the playground. At the end of the day, he sort of changed his views, saying "maybe he will want to have kid after 30s", "maybe he and his wife will be affected by their friends who have kids then".

  3. Planning to do a scapbook with the pictures taken with my ex-colleagues. One thing I realised, I only took pictures with them on the last few days of my service there, and those are sort of "posed pictures". I prefered to have some candid shots of them at work, and pics taken at special company events, which will tell more stories.
Called up "Made with Love", the scapbooking shop which had moved from Liang Court to Plaza Singapura. Arhhh, they are conducting "Scrapbooking Lev 5 " Class this Sat., and beginners ‘class is only scheduled at end of March. While, not going to wait till next month end, so I think I'll attempt to do it on my own. Just hope that it will at least look presentable.
Sort of made up my mind on the colour theme -- pastels, which is "very me". Oh should I include ribbons, lace, flowers as decorations too? Hahaha.
And to Sips, you want me to include the dinner I had with my colleagues at Muchuan, so that once my scrapbook is ready, I can showed them to the Monday dang3 and you can stand beside that "someone" and chipped in yr comments. * wink*

  4. I noticed the change in me. Years ago, entered the work force as a fresh Poly Grad. , I am contented with a stable job and nice environment. Yah, remembered how my ex-collegaues were all slacking at work, playing neopets, downloading songs as most of the time our boss is not around. 2 years later, I decided to take a risk and joined the private sector. The office environment is lively and interesting, but still I chose to leave after 17 months.
Meilian (the singer from Muchuan) was asking me abt my current job and why I chose to leave my ex-colleagues on the way to the washroom. Guessed she noticed on that Monday when I had my farewell dinner at Muchuan, my ex-colleagues are so fun-loving and lively, it was an enjoyable and enriching experience working with them. Told her the reason I choose to leave is for a job with a better job development, better chance of promotion and better pay in the long run.
"Wo Zhan Cheng. Ren yao wang gao chu pa," She said.
Then it strucked me.I used to be just a simple gal, just gimme a stable job, and I am contented. And I would more likely to stay behind for the sake of my colleagues as I'm zhong4 gan3 qing2 sort, wouldn't bear to leave them behind. Even for my first job, I was one of the last few of the gang to leave the company.
Since when did I start to care abt job development, care abt climbing up the corporate ladder.? Wo ye bu siao de...
I hope that I still retain the innocence, and not get involved in any politics or power struggle.

Frankly speaking, I feel disgusted whenever I see people whining abt how bosses don’t like him/her anymore when they are the ones who curry-favour the bosses and get special treatments from bosses. I don’t understand why some people view other colleagues as their competitors instead of someone who help you to share the workload. Don’t understand why some people have to resort to using dirty-tricks to get rid of their working partners even though when it is obvious that the others don’t wish to be involved in any power struggle. Quite ironic right, having work for 4 years (and seen people being victims of office politics), yet still don’t understand the game….

Attack!

Latest update:

Just after lunch hour, 2 young employees, having bought 4 CDs from the famous cheap CD shop from the Chinatown Market and Food Centre, had created a minor havoc in the office. One is now playing her 蔡健雅 <<雙棲動物>> album on her laptop, and another is now playing 李聖傑 <<手放開>>. To make matters worse, another employees, in her 30s, was so excited by the 王力宏 new album <<心中的日月>> which the gals had bought that she borrowed the CD and start another launch of music broadcast attack.

For an office where it's usually so quiet that you can hear people breathe, one would really have to applaud the ladies for generating "noise pollution".

Haha, you should know who I am referring to. Though my colleague and I are two “Pai-kiahs” who defy the norms, it’s still better for the youngsters to influence aunties than youngsters being influenced by aunties. :P

红豆词2000

Had been trying to get hold of this lyrics for quite some time. Dunno if this is the correct version.

Posting for Mon 21 Feb 05 -- Muchuan session again

Yah, went to accompany Sips to Muchuan again. She finnally got to see her dream guy singing after 1 month ( correct?).

Shan't mentioned much , haha , as she will write abt it in her blog.

Was having mild case of diarrhoea after lunch (same case on Sunday), so decided to drink 100 plus only for dinner. Was joking to Sips that it's a good excuse to go on diet.
On the way to Appollo Centre, Sips mentioned abt how her colleague saw the pic on her blog, and commented I was cute. Grrhhhh, I hate to be described as Cute. And grrrrrrhhh this gal was like trying to promote me then, telling ppl abt my age, blah blah blah (dunno what else she say lah). Then she continued to tell me that her friend is a teacher,27 yrs old, bla blah blah. I manage to shut her off by telling her " Go find one who know how to play keyboard." Haha. Hey gal, u better be glad I am single now, that's why I have the time to accompany u to Muchuan and take up course.

Well, topic was changed to betting if the "Taupok" Jiehao will showed up at Muchuan again. Sips was rather afraid to see him and being teased by him again. True enough, he was there early, and he teased her for being so punctual.

Sips told me that while I was off to the Ladies, Jianhua come over and talk to her. Haha she was so happy liao. And she laughed like mad when he came over again and called me " Eh, Eh" while mentioning that he had received the pics file. Whatever... * Sips, u should be glad that he remembered yr name. :)

Performance that night was a bit different from usual, instead of the normal PR bantering , and or comments abt the songs, the 4 performers were like teasing each other, joking abt the unusual relationship between the two guys; the gals teasing Jianhua that he only noticed female patrons, and Jianhua making "uncivilised" jokes regarding "hearing songs until earshit come out" and " sitting until butts hurt". Haha, at last Sips got a chance to see him acting differently from usual.

Anyway, hahah, Sips didn sabo. Either she don't dare to, or like what I had told her : Even if she wrote in to ask them to sabo me, they won't do it. :P . Haha, I am a "protected species".

As for their performance that day, though there were more ppl, they still manage to sing most of the song we dedicated or like to hear. I was quite surprised when Jianhua chose to sing "Cong Ni Hui Mu Na Tian Kai Shi" over the other songs from my dedication list. (that song quite old, not Sips era) :P . He also sang Huang Hun (yah, my fav song) , and Sips now likes the song becos her dream guy sang it, not becos of Zhou Chuan Xiong. Chey! ( Sips, i leave it to u to write in yr blog regarding what U mentioned that made me spit). Our future teacher, Ah Du finnally sang Tanya Chua's Shuang Xi Dong Wu,which was a special request by Sips.

Sips can't bear to leave the place after their performance ended and was very "gian" when Meilian asked her to come again next week. Ok Sips, if u really want to go, i think I shld be ok lah. Normally I won't have much activities on Mondays. Somemore it's month end.

Ego, power....

Ok, mentioned in the previous post regarding my boss. So far, I think she is the only boss I have meet who is sharp, observant, and really will do work, unlike most bosses who only know how to talk…

What happened was, me and the other MSO (J) was asked to see her regarding the announcements of clearing invoices before the financial year ended. Then my boss asked us” How do you find working with D (the 倚老卖老 CSO woman I had mentioned before”.
Well, recently, J and I ( actually plus another colleague) find it difficult working with “D” as she always draw a clear line on what she is supposed to do, bossed around as if she is our supervisor. But Since our Boss had stated that D is to report to J, so I keep quiet, let J decided.

J put it in a nice way “I would say she’s rather defensive”.

Then bingo! Our boss start to say how she’d like us to be frank with her, let her know about the problems we had , instead of keeping it to ourselves.
Well, Our boss actually suspected something—just from an email. She told us that she received an email from D, which is an amended file that D did, an she notice that D did not sent to J or me, though she was staed before that D is supposed to let u review her work. Yet D included the director ( her previous supervisor b4 we came ) in the email.

“ What’s more important is what’s are the thing missing than what’s in the list’ that was what my boss mentioned.

Well, few bosses will read through the emails ( like this type of amended file for circulation), yet my boss even read who’s in the sender’s list. Just two names missing, and she'd already guessed what happened.

( hmm, like what ah shui told me, this also mean that next time I have to be careful when dealing with her too, in case I made any mistakes, and she’s notice it right away).

Then she told us that she sort of prepared that this type of situation would happen, specially when we two are younger than D, and we have less working experience. D would find it unjustified that she’ll needed to report to someone junior than her, though our appointment grade are higher than her. She mentioned that of course it would depend on the individual. Some will accept this type of arrangement, but some won’t.

“ The whole problem is with ego.” She said. Then she talked about how some people always grumble “ Why do I have to listen to her”, “why people talks to her but not me”, “Why the boss only ask her to do things”……..

Yah, J & I never ever thought of competing against D. D is the one who often stressed that she worked with Ministries b4, and was supposed to be the same grade as I , but she don’t have the cert, hence the HR cannot promote her to that scale.

I myself hate to be involved in power struggle. My motto is: just do what you can, and give your best. No need to compete against other.

Suddenly, all these reminded me of someone in TXY. He always thought that I want to compete against hi, or actually he is the one who compete against me, when I never even bothered to be in the “race’. Years ago, I was quite active in reporting articles for my Poly, due to the good PR staff I have from my school, who always provide interesting press release to the editor, Yet he sort of grumbled that I am so aggressive in reporting that I took away other students’ chances of reporting their school events. He was so that he event when to the extent of keeping track how many articles each members have reported. When I received the one of the "写昨表现奖” during the annual prize presentation ceremony, he was like making comments again, while I myself never ever though of writing all those articles just to get awards.
Even when I got a position in the executive committee, all I want to do is to help out. Yet to him, he view it as some sort of competition. I myself never plan how to get into the committee, all I know is that someone nominated me, and I just try out, sort of to pay back with my service for in club, to thank them for the articles fees given to me.
During these years, I’ve seen him trying all sorts of ways to be an influential person in the club, trying to get the younger batches of members to obey him, twisting stories to make himself look as he is the victims and he was wrongly misunderstood by other people in the club. He treats this whole thing like a “Survivor” race, but he never understand that there are people who never never want any power, or being involve in the first place.

Ok, back to what my boss told us. Then she elaborated a lot, and then guided us that we have to find a way to deal with D. She also told us that we have to work extra hard to prove ourselves to D, to earn her respect. Cos we both are not accessed by her (boss) but also by D. Not as in assessment during performance appraisal, just that D will be watching us on how we do our work.

Yah I understand what my boss means. If J and I make any mistakes, D will sure gives us a “ I told you so, I got more experience” look. So we both have to prove that we are up to her standard to be supervising her.

Towards the end of the talk, boss even care to tell us that if we need her help to talk to D, she can do so, Then she got D to come in, told her gently that she need her to do corrections for the list and then pass it to J and I for checking.( sort of hinted again that D had to report to us) But D blurted out something which almost makes J & I fall off from our seats:
“But Director told me not to send out”.

Erh hrm, it was very cleared on our 1st day of work that we all three are under our boss, who is an Assistant Chief Executive, and her position is obviously higher than any of the Directors. Yet D dared to use a director name to 压她. * shakes head*

Anyway, J & I are still trying to find a way to work with D. But there were a few times where D always claim to be busy and left us two doing the work which is supposed to done by her. Well, luckily we both are not the type who don’t bother and left the work being undone and then blame D for what happened. If she don’t do, we do. We’re not going to let the department be disorganise just because of her.

Chingay 2005 & Pics

for Sat 19 Feb

Yah, got tickets to the Chingay, thanks to Wenxin but only found out that our tickets only allow us to sit at the cheerleaders’ zone, that means we can only sit along the curb. Hmm, no complains though, cos that means we are nearer to the performers than those who are at the seats. Don’t think people at the seats are close enough to the performers if they wanna take pics.
.
Bought my digicam and spare battery along, but it wasn’t easy taking pictures. The performers move so fast that even using the “sport mode” function of the camera doesn’t help. Unless you got a professional camera or a video recorder, then you’ll be able take clearer pictures. Luckily, the floats are slower moving, so I manage to take pics of them. (see below). But still, we were being blocked by the motivators, and those security guards. Duh.

I also managed to some souvenirs from the overseas performers. Got a red packets (filled with sweets) from the dancers from China, and a fan from the Japanese dancers. Keke.

I wonder did the camera (for live TV broadcast) manage to capture the scene where the big flag is stuck among the lightings strung on the tree. The flag bearers took some time to disentangle it and the flag almost hit the spectators who are seated along Paragon. 真为他们捏把冷汗.

After the event, there was a dance party on the street, but almost 99% of the people who party are the motivators (student volunteers) and other workers. The organizers failed to take into consideration that everyone have goodie bags and bags to carry, and it would look stupid to dance with bags on your hands.
Ok, Pics here:

evening at Newton

Yawn... Rather tired now, so here's gonna be a short posting.

Met up with ex-colleagues over dinner at Newton. It was certainly good to see them again, and talk to all these fun-loving batch of ppl. However, most of them seems rather tired from work. Yah, last week must have been a hectic one for them as they need to send out the files for printing.
Had a bit of sting ray, then chicken wings, soup, fried rice, carrot cake, oyster omeletter.

Arhh, there goes my diet.....

Was telling Ah Shui abt what happened in my office today, which makes me very impressed with my boss. Most bosses only know how to talk but never do work, But my present boss is rather sharp and will guide us along. Ok shall talk abt it next time, cos it is something serious and I need time to phrase them

That email

Interesting thing which happened in office today.

Just before lunch time, received an email from this HP IT guy, who is stationed at head office, and whom we only meet him twice ( shall addressed him as "B"), asking us (me and my colleague-- another MSO, whom I will refer to as "J") if we are free to join him for lunch on this Friday.

Find it weird, cos he seldom come by our office unless there is a new staff coming in, and most of the time, IT guys will look for the other IT guys for lunch, or they just join our whole group (including the "aunties") for lunch. Wondering if it is because he had tracked down that we are using Web MSN? (Me and "J" are the two young, lively and naughty ones in office, keke).

Me: Hey J, saw that email that B sent? Weird right? Could he been tracking our movements?

J: (reads her email). Hmm, reply him "Ok lor". See how then lor. Maybe that day he coming to our office and Jonathan (the other IT guy) not around?

( hmm, make sense but still funny right? Friday is still days ahead, and he could have just join our group on that day mah.)

So we decided to ask him what's the reason behind.
J was busy so I clicked on "reply all with history" option and sent our reply which reads:

Hi B,
Should be no problem.
But what's the agenda huh?

After lunch, we receive a reply from B which read:

. Just to thank you for your help and at the same time to build public relations. Unofficial invitation. No worries.

P.S: Please do not keep **** (his department email) in the loop thanks"

I scanned through all the correspondence, and was shocked to find in the sender's list, his department main email address was included. I was quite sure when i clicked on "reply all", only B's name, and J's name appeared.

Explained to him the situation, and he could only suggest that perhaps the system go haywire.

Well, what done cannot be undone and now his whole department knows that he asked 2 ladies out for lunch on Fri. Haha sure he will get teasing from his colleagues.

Hmm, was wondering that will it spoilt the chances for J, as there might be a possiblity that B is interested in her. J is unattached and older than me and the aunties colleagues are doing their best in matchmaking her with any bachelors available.

J certainly seems to know what is going on my mind, for she mentioned
"tell you har, don't go for handsome and rich guy" and " i don't go for his pattern one, he looks like 小弟弟, somemore he's like very 花花" .

And J wrote back to B :
" I got help you meh" And B don't know how to reply back. Hahaha.

Oh yah, haven't mention how this B looks like. Hmm, his appearance is similar ( NOT "look like") to the 5566's 许梦哲 pattern -- fair skined, dark styled hair, baby face. I don't think he's very handsome, just that he is like those meterosexual, clean-cut and bothers abt his appearance & dressing, quite different those typical geekly IT guys.

Haha, just recalled I have some IT guy friends, and one or two might be reading my blog. Ehh, u don't look geekly ok. :P

****************
received a call from ex-colleague, asking me if I am free to to join them for window shopping at Far East in the evening. So off I went. Haha didn't see them for quite some time, and I got lots of stories to tell. Another colleague passed me a copy of Maxim magazine ( yes that magazine for man), and after flipping through, I saw that my polar bear soft toy was featured in it, was used in the story as one of a fans who welcome "Taufik" to my previous office then. Almost forget that I lent them my polar bear toy for the photoshoot. Keke, will scan that page if I have the time.

posting for tue

ok shall write first, then add in the chinese characters and perhaps the pics later in the evening

Went to visit my good pal who met with a traffic accident on the 1st day of Chinese New Year. * Poor thing*. According to what she told us, she was riding on her bf's bike and was travellinf straight and they saw a car parked at the roadside ahead of them. then suddenly the car turned out and that was when their bike hit the car. Her bf suffered scratches while she fractured her left arm. The car driver should be the one at fault as he didn't check for blind spot but as there were no eye witnesses, it's hard for them to get compensation.

For my friend, it was sort of a suay week for her as just a few days before the accident, she had lost her bag (with all her valuables) at Chinablack. (somehow their tag was missing and someone found the tag and went off to claim hers and her friends' bags. Well, if I did remember correctly from my limited experiences to pubs, DoubleO required you to sign on a tag when you deposit your bags and the counter and you have to sign out when you want to collect your belongings. Apparently for my friend's case at Chinablack, no signatures are required, hence making it easy for others to pick up the bags. Can't hold the company responsible as they were the ones who misplaces their tag.

Perhaps these minor misfortunes were planned by 老天爷for my friend to learn something from it. It was a case of 患难见真情. For she was very touched when her bf (after being together for 7 years) didn't scold her for being so careless and went with her to make police reports and all other arrangements. And when they meet with the accident, her bf first thought was to ask her if she's hurt instead of inspecting the damage of his precious bike. She use to have some doubts abt her relationships, wondering if it would last , and the feelings will still be there after so many years, but now... kekeke, they are going to get married. Hurray! If they have finish their minor renovations of her bf's room by June this year, they will be registering their marriage in that month. Keke we all promised to take leave to attend their ROM then. So exciting!!! Hmm the customary marriage will take place perhaps a year later, i think.
But still, first time attending close friend's 喜事. We gals sure will have a lot of things to talk about whenever we meet, like help her to decide her dress, the theme, venue......

OUT of BOUND

I wonder why there are some people who are so thick-skined. After repeated postings of stressing that you are not welcome to view my blog if you never got the link directly from me, or you are not my gang of friends ( u know who you are), or when I refused to disclose my blog's page to you when you ask, yet you still come to view my blog.

ARE YOU BLIND OR WHAT!

Yah, you may wonder how I know, cos I got tracking system here.

Are you too bored that you got nothing to do? Or you are scared what i will write about you so just come here to peep.

I shall repeat here, this blog is only to be shared with my close friends or friends I trust. Even my family members are not welcome here. Get it?

So if anyone still come to read my blog again, I really pity you for not understanding simple English, and not having an exciting life of your own, and that's why you have so much free time to explore people's blog. Haha.

!4 Feb 2005

Haha, This is gonna be a funny piece

In celebration of V-Day, I decided to "bring" "2 guys" to my workplace to accompany me. So here they are:

Jay Chou

and

Jacky Cheung

Haha, actually just that I gotten these two posters and no point keeping them at home where I cannot display, so bring them to office to liven up our department. Sorta work actually, for another colleague start refering them as my two "guardian angels" watching over me when I am at work.

Remember the colleague I mentioned abt who is around the same age as me. She is so sweet, she bought us chocolates and only gave them to us (except the one who gave us a few trouble) after lunch, to avoid us going to get someback back for her in return. But nobody bear to eat them, all 3 of us hanged the sachets on our cubicle wall instead. Hmm wonder how the colleague who din get any chocolate will react when she return from work tomorrow...

The chocolates

Oh yah, before i forgot, This was what Sips had passed to me last Friday.

The Muji Pen

Thanks a lot gal.

sunday

actually wrote a post yesterday night, but midway, seems that Singnet was down so I couldn't post, so here's what i typed:

Wanted to post the pics taken at Muchuan but had visited Sips' blog and found that she had done so. Woah, this girl is so anxious huh. Luckily she did give me credits mention for my nicely--packaged photos, or I'll sue her for claiming my artwork. Hahahaha.
So if you are interested to see how her dream guy look like, check out her blog (link provided at the left column of my blog).

Ok, visit my ex-colleague on Sun , to take a look at his newborn baby girl. They also consulted a geomancer for the baby's name. She is called Yu3 Qing2, English name is Jolin.(Guessed it is because her Dad is a fan of Jolin. Hai....)

Too bad the other ex-colleagues cannot make it. I was quited bored at times, but he and his wife did entertain me.

My ex-colleague then told me one news which I was quite surprised to hear: He sort of got a confirmation to go to Ireland for his PhD. That will take 3 years.

Yah, was asking him how abt his wife and newborn child. And he replied that he will visit them during holidays, and when his wife had business trips to Europe, he'll drop by.
Really admire his wife for being so independent and so brave to face the challenge of taking care of their child alone. Being seperated is already not so easy, furthermore she have to face the challenge of working full time and taking care of her baby girl and educate her.
Wish them all the best.

2 days at Chinatown

haha, spend 11 & 12 Feb evenings at Chinatown area, and at Apollo Centre. Can't believe it, everyday walk past after work, still not sian.

11 Feb 05

Met up with Yiwei, Sips, and Aini, for dinner at Chinatown after work, then to Muchuan to listen to their CNY special performance. Sips had already promise to show Aini that place, too bad that her dream guy not performing on 14th, (*wink).

But Sips still gotta meet him today, cos we sort of made him come down to collect our music course fees. Sips got the chance to take pics with him again. haha.

Poor sips, think her reputation is sorta tarnish. Almost every employee of Muchuan know abt her crush. The singer Jiehao aka "taufik look-alike" was teasing her from the stage that he knows her preference for Mondays's performance and the reason why. He teased her not only once, but mention the names and what she did previously on the stage, which i think was not very ermm ... professional????. Firstly, other patrons who dunno abt the joke will be misled, and secondly, they will be tired of listening him teasing Sips as it was an internal joke, and not related to them. Somehow, I think the joke was getting a bit out of hand, as now, out of the 6 performing groups, half of them had come to know abt it.....

But among us friends, we can't help teasing her. Especially when she was so happy with the receipt that Jianhua had written ( haha i was the one to ask for recept, as a proof of payment, totally forgot that he will be the one issuing it). So she happy liao, have his handwriting :P.

And in the midway of the performance. Sips suddenly grabbed my hand after reading her incoming sms. Then she was laughing like out of control, saying something like "oh 1st time he initiate a sms.". well, her dream guy actually sms " wo zou le. enjoy yrselves ya". Quite some time later, then i check my mobile, and i actually also received the same sms. I was like laughing too, cos I was thinking too bad i din notice the incoming sms. if not when Sips grabbed me, i could have show her my phone and watch her face go "diao......." :P
Nah, I am not so bad. but the way that she suddenly grabbed me so tightly was damm funny, like she won that Million Dollar Toto.....

As for that day's performace, well it was not a very Chinese New Year special as i expected. But the performance was not bad. At least still can relate to them, unlike someone's singing..... Think their speciality is "rap", for we haven't heard any one singing rap from the Monday's gang. Well, Sips sabo Daniel to go on stage, where he sang Zi4 You2. And the sabo queen got sabo in return-- by me. Took away her precious receipt and then wrote on a dedication list, requesting her to go on stage to sing. She got no choice, for she fear that we might not return her receipt. In the end, she was forced to sing a duet (Wu Ding) with "Taufik", and was grumbling why we made her sang the "special song" with another guy. hahaha. Oops, now I have to be extra careful on 21st. cos the sabo queen might take revenge.

********
12 Feb
Was supposed to meet up with 4 ppl at chinatown mrt for dinner 1st before heading to Sips's fav karaoke place. But turn out only Sips and Daniel an I can make it.

Went to the XO Fish head noodles restaurant at Smith Street. So long haven't eaten the fish slice beehoon. Well, we not only ate that, but also ordered a plate of big butter prawns. Yummy!

spent 3 hrs singing at the karaoke right above Muchuan. well, me not power to sing today. but the session was quite fun. We disturbed each other. Really missed being so "kee siao" after having to be so serious in the work place.

Anyway have to go to attend ex-colleague's baby one month's celebration 2moro. think will post abt it if I have the time tomorrow nite.

pictures...

Ok ok, dun wanna mention much abt my CNY, cos it was very routine -- same as previous years. First day went to visit my grandma's house ( paternal side), and "zi bey po"'s house (where her children & grandchildren -- who are my distant uncles, aunties and cousins, will gather there. On the 2nd day. which is today, went to my grandma house (maternal side) and "lua peh kong"'s house.
The only thing different this year is that my parents had instructed me not to take those ang pows from the distant relatives cos I am "old" and working liao. But in the end, almost all the relatives insisted on giving as I am not married, so i only loo-gee one ang pow.

Since i had gotten a new digicam, so make use of the chance to take pictures of my cousins and siblings. But not going to post all here.

But here's one which was the result of my attempt in making use of the multi-shoot function.

My sis, my goofy bro and I in the backseat of my dad's car, on the way to Grandma's hse.

My new bedsheet. -- in my favourite shades of purple. Bought the pillow and bolster at the last minute, in the eve of CNY. Think I spent around $100 on new pillow, bolster, pillow and bolster protective cover ( which are hidden under the printed pillow & bolster case)and mattress protective cover. What to do, my mum don't care anymore, so I settled all these myself.

Ok here's another pic which i mentioned I'd put up.

My new office workstation. Not many things put up as compared to my previous work station, as the cubicle is smaller. That's the laptop issued by the company.
Cool huh.

my new work place

Ok, admit had been pushing this 'report' for some days. But right now, it's still "starting up" and "settling down" period, hence nothing much interested to write.

report to work last tue, 1 Feb. Well for the corporate support department, there are two MSO ( including me) and a CSO (an "auntie" who is same age as my mum) . Right now, we are sitting together with 2 PAs ( who also belonged to the "mummy category").

Hence I am the youngest there. Luckily the other MSO is only 3 yrs older than me, and we clicked. So we two "相依为命". We two are the lively ones, for we are the ones who dare to bring and listen to radios and play mp3s on our laptops while working. Though I can blast out music as I did in my previous work place. We also tried ways to install MSN Messenger. Only to found out that pop up windows are blocked by out company server. Luckily we are still able to use the online version of MSN messenger.

Was quiet afraid of our boss, for she spoke with such firmness, and stressed on efficiency and being sytematic. ( Well, heard that she was an ex- district judge). But unlike some bosses who only know how to talk but don't to work, she actually shared with us her tips of being organised, such as how to deal with various emails--sorting them out....

We had quite a few meetings for the past week, to discuss on the various admin matters that are need to be done. One good thing abt joing a new division is that we are able to set our rules and have more control over them.

Yah, mentioned that I got a laptop.Yah, they provide Futjisu Lifebook laptop for every one, and every bidy also gets a sleek optical mouse and thumb drive. Which I do think it's a wastage of $$ as not every one needs to use a thumbdrive everyday. The IT department are rather efficient, they had already generate the initial passwords for us, and all 3 of us had our laptops set up by the afternoon.

But, something happened that made us suspect that the IT perople are able to read our emails (from company's email account). My partner (the other MSO) whad sent a contact list stating our names, birthdates and telephone numbers among 5 of us. Yet soon after, the IT guy sent her an email, wishing her Happy Birthday (just happned her birthday was on that day). Well... he claimed that HR sent him an email, but he deleted that liao. Of cos we doubt him. And we stop sending private emails from our company emails account.

Food wise: Can you believe the 24 storey buidling don't have a canteen of its own. But they make up for it by having pantry at every level, and Amoy Food Centre and Maxwell Food Centre are just a stone's throw away from our office. Lot's of variety of food to choose from.

Colleagues wise: well a bad thing working with aunties is that they can be naggy and kaypoh. By the second day, the three aunties (one by one) bought up the topic of match-making us with the bachelors in our office. Duh. We two were like screaming " why you all 3 say the same thing??!!!". Well, I was slightly spared as I am younger than the other MSO.

I think the other MSO and I get a long quite well. It's such a coincidence that she had also worked for NTU (I was also working for NTU before Ij oined SPH Mag). She is one that will not claim credits for others' works and volunteers to help me out.

As days passed, we two find that the CSO was giving us a bit of trouble. Well, sort of expected it, as the CSO is of a lower appointment grade than us, she had 19 yrs of working experience and came to start work a month before us (a case of 倚老卖老). Though our boss had stated that the CSO report to my partner (the other MSO), she don't really treat her as a supervisor. My boss had instructed me to act as a back-up when the other MSO was on leave, and I'm afraid that the CSO won't "give me face" too.

Hmmmm, I had actually taken a pic of my work station on my digicam, but had not upload it yet. My desk size is half the size of my desk at my previous work place, so I can't put much decorations. Will post the pic when i have the chance

Am having "黄昏 withdrawal syndrome". I used to listen to the song on my iMac itunes at my previous workplace everyday. Then I thought i have that mp3, it turned out that the Windows Media Player cannot support that file's format. And the original CD I had is copy controlled, hence can't be played on the CD drive. Grrrrrrrhhh.

events 4-6 Feb

Actually wanted to write longer entry, but dun have the time. Was busy spring cleaning and rather tired.

Friday 4 Feb

Went to my friend's dad's wake in the evening. Could see that she was visibly tired and 憔悴. Admired her for being able to put on a brave front. (there are some others reflections I had, but for her privacy sake, I shan't mention publicly in this blog)

It was nice meeting seeing my ex-colleagues again, (but weird when my ex-boss came down).

Any i receive another card signed by my darling colleagues. Yeah i totally didn't expect it. They seems to sign the card after I left.

Here's the card (can't scanned the full inner page as when it opened up, it is larger than the width of A4 paper)

In case you can't view what they wrote, here are their comments/wishes:

"au the best. 加油! -- Nicco"
"the office seems quieter without you. Miss working with you already... Keep in Touch! -- Wyn-lyn"
"We'll miss you and all your "S?????-ness". All the best in your new workplace -- Rebeckka"
"All the best in your new career path. Welcome to a new world! -- Alvin"
"Ah Shui, already miss you liao-- (from another Ah Shui)"
"Take care and all the best to you -- Amy"
"I'm weeping. Missing you. All the best-- Pauline"
"How's your new job? Hope you're fine. We miss having a leader to decide where to have lunch. Good luck and we miss u -- Peter Yeo"
"Hi I'm a beaver, a purple GAY beaver! I am here to bid farewell to you... from Denise R LOWEM"

Hai... so sweet of them right? 真得有点让我受宠若惊. 读完他们的记语后,有点想要哭.....(was reading it only when i reached home).

Really missed them. Miss this bunch of lively people. Missed the familiar calls of "ah Shui". (we called each other "ah Shuai" at times). Miss all their unique desktops with all sorts of soft toys and decorations.
Yah.. in my new workplace, I am the youngest, and there is only one in my department who is ard the same age as me. So a bit sian. And scared I'll turn "auntie" ( cos so many aunties ard).

We also talked a bit abt that farewell dinner at Muchuan. Some were curious at who Jianhua was pointing at when he sang "祝福". And I told them abt the course I am taking up. They mentioned they will go down there again me if I am going to sing on stage. Haha but I am not intending to go for any auditions.

Sat 5 Feb

Had to specially go back to my old workplace to teach the person taking over me. She claimed that she dunno a lot of things and need me to help. Boh pian, my ex-boss ahd already the raised the staff requisition form and informed HR that I will be coming down on sat. And she sort of "reminded" me at the wake yesterday. Grhhhhh.
Actually lot's of things, she can explore by herself, and asking around, It seems to me that she never take the initiative to ask. She seems to keep to herself as i was shocked when i mentioned abt my departmnet designers, ans she claimed that she don't even know who are the 3 designers and 2 writers in our department!!!!! ( it was ard a week already, how can she not know?).
I was quite pissed off as i felt that I had wasted my time going there. Lots of things I had mentioned to her on the last day of my service. And she don't even bother to read our magazine to find out what are the different columns we have. Yet she being a first time Mac user, can know how to upload her songs to itunes.......

Was I being too harsh to judge her this way? I wondered..... ( nah, i didn't scold her , but silently i really want to scream at her for not taking initiative). Another ex-colleague who came back to do OT was also surprised that i was "recalled" back for work....It was unneccesary.

Met up with Wenxin for a quick dinner, then bought my matress and pillow protective sheet, and then headed down to KBox for a round of karaoke. Haha tried out the new songs, but were quite unfamiliar with them. Then went on to try out the male singers' songs and then event went to try out oldies and xinyao.

*So Sips, are you organising another round?*

Oh yah, I might have a chance to view the Chingay live!. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Will mention abt my new working environment probably at next posting instead.

I 'd rather we won't meet

Actually wanted to post a short description of my work place but something happened in the evening which left me feeling quite sad (for my friend)

Received an sms from an ex-colleague, telling me that my dear friend's (who is also my ex-colleague) dad had passed away peacefully this afternoon".

i was quite shocked to hear this news, though she sort of mentioned to me before that she was prepared for this outcome.

Yah, she can be considered the colleague I am most close to at my former workplace. We were more than colleagues-- good friends actually. Whenever I encountered problems, or feeling upset, she will be there to console me.

Could still remembered that before I left the company, the way she asked me if I will miss her. She even attended my farewell dinner though she must have more important things to do at home. Kind of feeling bad, cos now I can't be there to console her.

Actually we had thoughts of leaving the company together last year. but in the end she didn't. Cos she need money to cover her dad's medical fees. That's why she can't afford to risk quiting her permanent position there.

Though she never told others how serious her dad's illness was , we could figured out--- she often had to take leave and go to hospital. Yet she never let her work be bothered by her personal problems, for she still can jokes with us.

I guessed she did hope that her whole family could spend the Chinese new year together as last month, when we were ordering CNY goodies at our office, she sort of wondered out loud if her family could celebrate Chinese New Year together this year.....

Pray that she won't suffered too much, and won't exhaust herself these few days....

East meet West , Last day of work and Evening at Muchuan

31 Jan 2005

Yah, last day of work at SPH Magazines, and the gal who is taking over me only came in at mid morning. So how can you expect me to teached her everything i learnt in just less than a day. Grrr. Later, we reflected the problem to my supervisor, (the new girl is already stressed by mid noon), and guessed what, my supervisor asked me to come back to help! Duh, I had to start work immediately, and it wasn't my fault that I can't finished teaching her in one day. The new gal told me that she actually had attended the interview 2 weeks ago, and one week later, after receiving no news abt the status, she called up HR, and was told that my supervisor had not given them any instructions to hire her. It was only at last thursday that they confirmed hiring her, and asked her to go for medical check up asap.

*shake head*. Now they expected me to come back on sat to teach her....
so my last day in office was a hectic one, rushing here and there. My dear colleagues actually wanted to treat me lunch, but i really don't have the time as i need to collect cakes for distribution.

And you know what my dear colleagues did? Somehow, they manage to get someone to buy a gift for me, and it was a folder consisting $100 worth of Isetan Voucher . Together with it, was a very very funny pic. Will post it in my next posting. Aiyah, feel quite bad. Cos if I went out for lunch with them, at most each pay only $3 for my share. But how they all chipped in to buy $100 worth of vouchers.

Oh yah, there is something that Sips made me to write about in my blog , since she can't attend. (but already told her some of it through phone, dunno she'll be more dui after reading this :P) Hmm, is it you want me to write so that you can 'steal' from my blog again?

Well, made a last minute booking at Muchuan for dinner with my colleagues. And it was Jianhua who picked up the call. I still didn't recognised his voice intially, until i heard his glint of recognition in his voice when I gave my name for reservation. Out of the four muchuan singers, only he know the English name i used when I made reservation ( cos he is the one who picked up my phone calls)
When I sort of blurted out "又是你!" Imagine my surprise when he replied " 因为刚好你打来的时侯,是我接电话.如果你要,我现在可以马上叫另一个人来接听."
Mentioned before that this guy is so distant and formal, even towards Sips ( until recently not that formal liao). And since I never spoken much to him, didn't expect he could joke like that.

Then after knowing that I am going with my colleagues to Muchuan for a farewell dinner, he asked "你等下要唱什么歌."

I was stunned, I mentioned that i might have special request for some songs to be sung by them, yet he asked me that. and he even continued:

"你不跟我说你等下要唱什么歌,我就不帮你 made reservation".

Whoa, this guy seems to have 吃错药 lor. Can even "threathen" me .

Wanted to called Sips to tell her that her dream guy seems to be in a good mood but was dragged to do something by my supervisor.

Only managed to catch a breath after boarding the company transport bus after work, and quickly called Sips about it. (Yeah, think she must be wanting to strangle me for not letting her know earlier)
.
So yah, sips, you asked me to say Hi to him, and upon reaching there, and saw him , I really did say " Siping as me to ask "hi" to you"

One of my colleague is damn funny, Upon settling down at our tables, and the singers were away, she suddenly exclaimed "像, 像, 他很像孙协志!" Hmmm..... so married women also know how to secretly "beo" males huh, for I didn't see her noticing him.
After a short round of audition ( i dun think they can make it), there came the singers' performance. Sip's dream guy is really 反常, for he joked a lot and talked a lot. Whereas Ximei, who is oftenly so bubbly, made only a few funny comments.

So Sips, here are the surprising thing Jianhua did ( some i already mentioned to you):

Surprise 1: he interact with us a lot. Normally he only asked the audience had they had dinner, everything ok.But he saw me and a friend eating bread, he directly asked , whether the bread is nice and went on "promoting" the bread.

Surprise 2 : He was rather talkative that nite, asking my group like how long we known each other, then giving his "cheem" chinese comments abt friendship and farewell. (somehow, i am not used to being centre of 'attention', as at that time, there are still other patrons in the cafe)

Surprise 3: I had specialy dedicate "黄昏" "记事本" to my colleagues, and before he actually read out my dedication letter, he aske me from the stage that if I wanted to record him reading and their singing. When i asked if i may, he replied that I already brought my equipment ( my digicam). Whoa Sips, yr idol really have sharp eyes, cos I didn't even bring out camera when they are performing. I only took some pics with my colleagues just as the singers are busy preparing for setup.

Anyway since he given me the permission to video tape him, i had record a one minute video of them, of cos i know u wanted to see his face, so i had already zoomed in my camera lens to the maximum.

Suprise 4 (Sips, dun kill me for that): When he sang "祝福" , and at the verse "你和我重逢在灿烂的季节" he turned to our table and did an action : he pointed to our direction, the pull back his hand and place across his chest, causing my colleagues to laugh out loud. Then Ximei was teasing him " 你做那个动作, 是在指谁?". Which he joked back in Chinese that he wanted to point at every one at my table, but think that would looked too ugly.
Yah Sips, at that point, i really hope u were there to see it yrself, cos u should know that when it was his turn to sing, he is so engrossed in his singing that he never do those cute action. ( haha, u dui liao)

Surprise 5 ( sips, i think u really will kill me for this): he actually dedicate a song to me and talked rubbish. Cos later, he mentioned he is going to sing a song from our dedication list , "
男人海洋". It was actually dedicated by one of my colleague but she left at 9+ pm.
So when he was singing halfway, he turned to me and said something like "for Table 13 who dedicate the song". which I replied " I didn't dedicate this". And which he said "我折下我的翅膀送给你, 要不要?". I was a bit stunned and I caught Meilian laughing. But i caught the joke and laughed back. And Sips ,in case you dunno, he was just trying to build up the atmosphere and you know, the last two lines of the song is actually "我的爱是折下自己的翅膀 送给你飞翔". So he was just talking rubbish. But unexpected right?

And after he finished singing, he said " 男人海洋, 送给 S-------- ( my name)". (i am still not used to pppl calling me by that name)

Sips, Dun kill me huh, i didn't ask him to dedicate song one, i think he really 吃错药 . Maybe next time u go to Muchuan, he also dedicate a song to you leh.

Kinda feel sad for the singers that halfway through the performance, we are are the only group remaining there ( unless if you want to count "taufik" and his friend sitting at one corner & not dedicating any songs). But we also have our advantage. Because we are the only one left, they are rather accomodating, like my friend who wanted to hear Meilian sing Sun yanzi's " 我不难过 ", she sang it though she actually thought of singing "同类".

For me, i had mentioned I requested for "黄昏" "记事本" ., Jianhua and Meilain not only changed them to a medley, but add some challenge to it by singing both songs at the same time during the chorus. The effect was actually quite good.

They also accomodate to our request for songs like "脱掉" & "祝福" . The funny part is that Ah du got so high when he was playing keyboard and singing "脱掉" , that at the next song, two buttons of his shirts were unbuttoned by themselves.
And Sips, don't you worry. Most of my colleagues prefered Ah-du instea. :) They were impressed with his style of singing. They claimed that he sings with more "feelings"

Sun 30 Jan 05

Went to this special "East Meet West" event at Muchuan, where the singers Yiling, Weixiong and Liqing sang oldies. Quite surprised that it was split equally among chinese, english and cantonese songs. It's not often that you can hear singers performing english oldies at Muchuan. Can't comment much as my friend and I left early. The male singer, weixiong, was 'suaning' yiling so much, just to gao3 qi4 fen4. Yeah and Sips smsed me something halfway through the performance, and when I read it, i really want to gave her an exasperated look. Haha.
